I don't know. I just wish they'd hurry up. I ordered a limited edition. Looking forward to it

I just hope they're working all the bugs out. Thinking I should order another limited edition just to put up. I bought it for my wife. So she can have a compact device at work. @raymo2u got me looking at their G2. It's a sweet device. I'm excited to see what they did with the new slice. It's almost as bad as waiting on an order from FT.

I pre ordered the Slice. If I like the chip I'm definitely getting a G2

You might as well get the G2 now and have something really nice while waiting for the Slice. I wasn't sure about the G2 but bought it figuring all these people couldn't all be wrong. I am not regretting my decision one bit, by far it is the best mod I own and I own several. Never got on the DNA200 wagon since I use a Mac, but i have 2 RX200's and several TC 75W mods.

I hear ya bro but I went a little crazy when the news of the legislation hit. lol. I went out and ordered 2 RTA's, 2 Subtanks, a shit load of coils and 2 new mods. I picked up an IPV5 and a VT133 from ecig.com. Got the DNA for less than $80 so I couldn't turn it down. I'm also looking at that Vaporflask DNA133 when it comes out. That the Sig 213 and the G2 will probably be my next 3 mods and then I'll be good for a while.

@Deucesjack did you by chance get the Boreas or the Alleria? Awesome tanks! I mostly MTL but DL with these two, Alleria is tops for flavor. I'm pretty set for mods, now I'm waiting for the Merlin to arrive (it's a pre-order for now) and then decide on which RTA's I'm gonna hoard.

I did buy 2 Boreas. I'm terrible at building and wicking but I guess with the new laws I'm going to have to learn.
This reminds me of an old joke... On a street in New York a young man carrying a violin case stops an elderly gentleman passing by and asks: excuse me sir, how do I get to Carnegie Hall? The elderly gentleman answers: Practice, young man, lots of practice.
Take heart, building and wicking the Boreas isn't that hard, you'll have lots of help, Roxy posted a tutorial in the Boreas thread.

Hmmm.... Original wrecker for $50, or Wrecker G2 for $130.... I dont TC, so would It really be worth it to get the G2? I currently use my RX at around 130 watts and build around .15 or .3.

The G2 is update able and has all the features that anyone would EVER need...the Old Hohm Wrecker is nothing more then a Sigelei 150w. The G2 is worth every penny and then some.

The OG Wrecker fires down to .05 right? the G2 .007? Just trying to think if I NEED the G2. main reason Im looking at them is I have been using SS wire a lot latley (scored a 1000' spool of 24g 316l for 25 bucks) and some of my better coils come in around .08... Lowest any of my mods can fire is .1 so I have to rip them out and rebuild. I dont use TC, and normally am vaping around 130w.

You both say the G2 is worth it, but why? what makes it better than the OG wrecker

Well the way things are going I would opt for the G2...I will be buying a Black version to keep as a backup just in case something happens to the working one I have or the one in parts in my office.

Ive got the G2, had it a few days now, and honestly, Im disappointed with it. Maybe my expectations were too high for it (almost certainly were), but Ive just had problem after problem with the thing. Its whatever. The metal presets dont work (I was trying to vape some SS coils and had it up to 130watts and 550F and still could barely get any vapor). Basically the entire TC system outside the presets seems to work by you adjusting the FSK Temp Curves, and given that, then you could conceivably TC kanthal on any device that lets you adjust the curve (TCR settings). And in wattage mode it actually seems cooler to me than on my other devices. I dunno.

This is why I thought you had a defective device, I still do given the mention of the Wattage mod...

Well according to the guys at Hohmtech, its just the FSK Curves that are off. I dont know. Im gonna have to watch a bunch of videos and read a bunch of shit to see whats going on in there with the chip and all when I get time. But damn, you shouldnt have to study like youre gearing up for midterms to get a mod to work right lol.

Im like 50/50 on just returning it to the site I got it from.

Ill contact hohmtech also, you dont need to change anything for normal TC modes and you only need to adjust for Kanthal/ xXx Modes. If you watch Bens video on their Youtube its a good way to learn how to dial it in for Kanthal/xXx Mode but the other modes are done with TCR and not EPM and the other methods its detects resistance change with

I got mine from Vaporcube, Mythical_OD got his from somewhere that was much cheaper but his doesnt seem to be working correctly...I would opt for vaporcube again myself.

I bought mine from the same place Mythical did. I found the place thru the Hohm Tech page, they are one of the authorized dealers. The price was a little lower than other places. I checked the authentication code and the unit is legit. I had no problems with mine, I'm feeling bad that Mythical is not enjoying his mod, I recommended the place. I believe another member here bought G2's from there, the price was just under $100. Maybe they will chime in with their opinion, maybe Mythical got a bad unit. I actually went to buy another one but the price went up to $129.

Yea I got it from VaporWorld.biz, an authorized Hohm Tech dealer, and the authorization code comes up legit and I contacted Hohmtech about it and they also told me its legit (even though they said it based solely on the fact the site is a dealer). It cost just a bit over $90, which is about $40 off regular retail.

Im kinda thinking and wondering if maybe that particular site had a batch of either refurbished, returned, openbox, or something else similar mods and was selling them at a low price point to just dump them. When I first got the mod and looked at the box and packaging and shit I thought "This looks like someone already had it open and used it" or something similar.

@Mythical_OD you could be right! The one I got didn't have the clear plastic wrap on it either. You think they were selling the open box units they had in store? You should contact the seller for a replacement, you didn't even have the mod for one week.Let us know if they make good on it.

Hmm. They have it for 98... I may pick one up this weekend...
It's funny , over the week-end I looked at their site and it was $ 129. I bought one a week before for $98 and I wanted to pick up another one, Mythical_OD and I bought them two weeks ago. Mine, thankfully is OK, his is not. I guess, like everything else, you just need a little luck when buying online. I usually use PayPal when possible, that way I get the purchase protection from them if the seller craps out on me.

Also got mine from vaporcube and works like a dream in all modes. The only thing I haven't used on it yet is nichrome80. Just used watts mode for that so far. But no issue temp limiting anything else.

Any idea when the Slice will be released? It was supposed to be the beginning of May, now it is mid May. Any more news?
If you had a choice between the HW G1 ($59) and the HSlice ($69), which would you get? I already have the G2 and love it. I'm leaning more towards the Slice for the full functionality and form factor but the plastic case is sort of a downer for me even though the price is very attractive.

The Slice is cast zinc, not plastic. An inadvertent error crept into the preview text during editing. Cast zinc is better than aluminum for making the relatively complex shape of the Slice at a reasonable cost. I hope to have one shortly. At the price point and given its features, I predict a hohm run (hah!) for the mod.

The G2 is a definite beast. It can be a handful to set up in Kanthal/nichrome/any wire mode, but once set up, it rocks.

@OldMadScientist, I only had a problem with the upgrade, other than that it's been great. Are you sure the Slice is cast zinc? Isn't cast zinc more brittle than aluminum alloy?

Im not a metal worker so my information may be flawed, but I believe it is more brittle, but its easier and cheaper to work with.

If its cast zinc then yes, much more so. Milled Aluminum is very durable and light...

That being the case with cast zinc, it puts the Slice even further down the list of things to buy. I definitely am not pre-ordering, I'll wait for the first actual reviews.

I bit, pre-ordered now. At the price point I'm not going to be overly miffed if I break it, and I'm not getting rid of my VT200 anyway. I'll report back if there isn't any good info posted about the Slice by that time.

This will be my first non internal battery operated mod since the Vamo V2, so I'm compelled to ask a few questions and get the post off track. Had to buy batteries so I did a TON of research (looked at 1 single Mooch thread) and just bought 4 Basen IMR 26650s. I believe my old charger can handle them, if not I'll buy a new one. Being that it is a single battery mod, will it be safe to charge it through the USB? I read a lot about battery wraps, should I get some, and do I put them on right away or if the original wrap tears? Done, that is off track enough.

Regardless what mod your using, if your wrap starts tearing, you need to re wrap it. the case of the batt is negative. if it touches anything it could easily have catastrophic results. Also if the wrap starts tearing look at what is causing it and try to remedy that as well. For instance: On the DNA version of he rx200 they put ridges around the positive battery posts. Anumber of people have isues with just pulling the batts out they were shreddING the wraps.

Be safe and error on the side of caution.

Back to the home slice.... just because it is zinc alloy dosent in itself mean it will be fragile. I wouldn't really worry as long as it was zinc or aluminum, just as long as it isn't plastic!

Yes - though I broke two of the inner Alleria caps before getting my coils right...stoked with this thing, though it's still a leaky little beast...

Which one is the leaky one ? the Alleria or Boreas? Albeit I'm not the Grand Poobah of coil and wick by any stretch of the imagination, in my experience the Alleria shouldn't have too much wick in the wicking/juice channels. Th only time I had wick in the channels (kinda like you'd wick the Griffin) that little sucker leaked like a sieve. I took it apart and trimmed the wick tails to the point where they barely sit on top of the juice channels being held by the wick ring. I remembered reading that's the way to wick the Alleria, possibly something posted by Grand Master Roxy. No leaks since then.
With that lesson learned, I wicked the Boreas with barely any wick touching the bottom. My Boreas had an incontinence problem, it was leaking any chance it had, i.e. any time there was juice in it. Back to the "Roxy posts" and found out the boreas needs a good amount of wicking material over the juice holes. Did that, no more leaking. I still get air bubbles popping up when I top fill, but no more leaking.

So barely any wick sticking into the Alleria channels? Will try that next build - I've got wick going all the way through.

That has been my experience with it. I get slight condensation around the AFC, but no real leaking. Let's see what @roxynoodle has to say;)

I wick the Crius, Griffin, Alleria, Gemini the same. You want your wick tails to completely fill the openings to the channels at the top of the deck so juice can't leak past, but short so they only peak beneath the wick ring. If your tails aren't thick enough, try larger ID coils.
