Looking to upgrade, any opinions or recommendations?

Hello All,

I am looking to upgrade from my Subox Mini to something with a bit more power. I have been using it for about 6 months now and I would like to try something new.

I am currently considering the Joyetech Cuboid 150w. Is this a good option? I currently have three subtank minis that I typically use with the RBA with a build around .3-.5 ohms anywhere from 22.5 - 30w. I would like to try building a bit lower, maybe try .1-.25 but the subox can only go down to .3. Would theses tanks be ok with the Cuboid or should I consider another mod or tank? Any and all help and opinions would be much appreciated. If you have other recommendations besides the Cuboid I'd love to hear them. I do prefer a cooler vape but would like to have the option of higher wattage for when I decide to start giving dripping a try (I've just been to intimidated). Thanks!!

Joyetech is making some decent stuff right now, especially for the going prices. Very difficult to beat the pricing when you look at the features, and the dang things are pretty well made.

I prefer the VTC mini over the Cuboid simply because I don't need over 75 watts, and it is much smaller. All of Joyetech's box mods will fire down as low as .05 ohms so they should fit your needs. The Cuboid holds 2 batteries and will give better battery life. The Cuboid is very hefty though; probably one of the heaviest mods I own.

I could go on and on about stuff in life; watch the video.

Subtank Mini doesn't really have enough airflow or build space for building low sub Ω. There are lots of RTAs out there that are more suitable I would visit a shop and see what you actually like.

Im now also considering the RX200 because I have read about many issues with the 510 on the cuboid. Does anyone happen to know if this flaw has been fixed? If not that might be a deal breaker for me.

As for the subtank, I currently have 3 and I can build down pretty low on it with no issues. I will be looking into new tanks for my new mod but will need the subtank to run on whatever I get for about a week or so before I have time to go look at tanks

Normal watts used on say a .3 build is around 60w, subtank mini is not great with over 45w. Its not that you cannot build low its just that there is not much point to it. .3 Ω at 4v is 53watts, it will struggle to keep up with that. Building low Ω was originally done to maximise the power available on a mech mod, a mech mod has a set voltage so to up the power you have to lower the resistance of the coil. On something like an RX200 you can simply turn the voltage up and increase the power to the coil. It doesn't work exactly the same way but the outcome is similar i.e. more vapor output. Building low on a regulated mod is also done to increase the max power output available as they have a maximum voltage that they can put out. If you have a 2Ω coil on a RX200 you can't get the 250w it supposedly can put out, to get there you would need the coil to be around .1Ω due to the max voltage output that is available.

I've had my cuboid for a week, and now my old reliable IPV3LI is getting a bit jealous. Plus I can play flappy bird on my cuboid.
Jimbo...I bought two Cuboids from the classifieds here last night....I've never used one in the past. How do you like the mod?

@Iliketurtles Ok I get what you're saying now. I have to get out and try and hold the devices I'm looking at so I know what direction I'm leaning in. While I have checked out the Cuboid in person already, now that I have read about the 510 issues I may have to rethink that. I also dont know that I will need something with the high wattage as I tend not to go that high bit would like the option to if I decide to get a dripper or use something other than kanthal.

As for tanks do you have any recommendations I should look at. Preferably something that doesnt drink juice too fast. I like the loom of the crown but hear it guzzles juice like a champ.

And what was previously mentioned, although the subtank mini is a good atty at lower wattage, it just doesn't have the airflow to keep the wick from burning when you use low ohm builds. That is my experience anyway.

So far I really like it. Smaller form factor than the IPV3LI. I'm getting a similar vape on the same rda/build, but 10 watts less.

The crown is a bit thirsty, but pales in comparison to the TFV4. I'm really happy with the flavor the crown produces.

You can use the subtank on any mod you buy, you just won't be able to crank the wattage up.

Like Jim said, the Uwell Crown tank is a darn good atty, some folks complain about the coils not lasting long, I haven't experienced this issue. I've had coils last for a month. Plus it has the rebuildable deck.

If you're into rebuilding, perhaps take a look at the Boreas from Augvape, I was stunned with the performance this RTA produces. Really a good atty.

Do you know if the Cuboid has been as well. I prefer its smaller size and dual battery over the tripple battery.
I believe the new Cuboids have the upgraded 510. I'm with you on the two 18650's, it's really all most folks need. I'm not sure how the battery life is in the Cuboid, but I have other dual 18650 mods the batteries last a good deal of the day at 50-60 watts.

Glad to hear that because I'm definitely leaning towards this device. I just need to pick a good tank (preferably one that comes with an rba) so I can try higher wattages. My subtank minis wont handle what I would like to try boosting my wattages to

There are lots of good ones and most people don't vape at super high watts we just like the mods with more batteries because you can vape longer before a recharge is needed. More watts = more juice = it costs you every time you up your watts :D Kanger are about to release the Protank 4 which will likely be very good, think it is out any day now. It has a dual coil RTA base so is aimed at higher wattage than the STM and a wide range of stock coils. Hotcig's Train Vape is good for 20-50w but not ideal for 50w+, Geekvape's Griffin is good, Herakles 2 is good, SMOK TF-RTA is good.....there are lots of good ones, you will find people that like all of them which is why I say you should actually try them to see which ones suit you best. Some people love the sigelei moonshot... they are insane obviously, but they like it so I guess it works for them :D

I watched a lot of Youtube videos when I first started vaping, there are so many different tanks available now it's beyond bizarre...:)

I'm thinking of starting with the cubis tank since its built for the cuboid. I might also get a pack of notch coils as I've heard great things about them and why not since a 4 pack is $10 at my vapor store. If thats not to my liking I can always buy the rba and see how that goes or just get another tank, you can never have too many tanks right lol

Yep, I've heard people say they love the Cubis, could be a good choice. Also heard people say they love the notched coils, others not so much....everyone is different, it's all good as long as we're not smoking.

I think Aspire just released a RTA version of the Clieto so theres another one. Notch coils are a prime example of what I am saying about personal preference - lots of people are raving about them and just as many are saying that they are garbage...it is what it is, until you try something you don't know if it is your thing, there is always someone that loves it and there is always someone that hates it.

Yeah, I figure start with what was built for it and upgrade from there. I'll probably be placing my order tonight, now I just need to decide on a color...

Agreed, worst case scenario I dont like em and get an rba and go from there. At least I'll have tried them myself to know for sure.

Well I went with the Cubis to start since it was built for the Cuboid. I also got some notch coils and the RBA since I hear that the stock coils aren't the best. I'll order the Clieto in a week or two and see how that goes :D.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone their input/advice. I ordered the Cuboid in black with a black Cubis tank, the RBA head to go with it and a pack of Notch Coils just to see if they are as good as I've been hearingWill probably order a Crown tank and Cleito tank in the next week or two to give those a try as well. Thanks again!!
