I might be the only potter head here (Harry potter) but it's Snape's line in reference to lily. Even have a tattoo of it, it has stuck with me since the first time I read the books

nope
<--- PotterHead

My son got me to read the first one, once when I had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to read (fate worse than death!). After snickering, giggling, and LOLing all the way thru it, I was hooked completely; read every book (twice!), seen every movie; in fact, the kid paid for us to see the very last movie in Imax 3D, as a dad's day present, since his dad isn't a reader as we are, but loved the movies too. The cool thing was that at the time I started reading, my son was the same age as Harry in the first book, and stayed right in step with Harry's advancing age as we read the following books. :)

And also... g'mornin' fugees, and merrily GFYs.

I don't give a rip about motor oil; when the truck says it's time to change it, we get around to it within 4-6 wks. :D

I will never, EVER listen to rap/hiphop voluntarily, though I did enjoy Faith No More's "Epic." That's the only rap I've ever thought worth listening to, because the song contains actual MUSIC.

And oh yeah.... MY ACHILLES II HAS SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's raining here, so my cat is not pleased, but I am a happy camper... er, vaper. :D

So then, you haven't really chosen up sides on the East Coast, West Coast thing? :)

Umm... what east coat/west coast thing? The only side I've chosen is that anyone who lives in CA must be completely insane, given how prone the ground there is to moving around -- the ground is supposed to hold still! Earthquakes, mud slides, and oh yeah, wildfires... *shudder* Think I'll stay on this side of the country, where the ground holds still, even when it rains. :)

That's the forefront of my thoughts on relocating there, before the laws/government there.

Another excellent reason for sane people to stay out of that state entirely! The gov't! But yeah, the ground moving around thing makes that state an absolute non-starter. Tornadoes are bad enough, but if you hide, especially underground, you might lose everything, but you won't die. How the hell do you hide from an earthquake or mudslide? Best answer: STAY OUT OF CALIFORNIA!

I've given some thought to some of the other western states... eastern WA might be nice. But the active volcanoes in that state, and the VAST magma chamber that lies under Yellowstone and a BIG part of that entire region... hmmm, again, I think I'll stay where I'm at. :D Usually about the worst we have to deal with is either tornadoes, or if there's heavy rain in both Atlantic and the Gulf and we get floods. Oh, and those motherfucking ice storms when we get the Gulf's warm rain at the same time that an Alberta Clipper is sending frigid temps -- really wish Alberta would keep its north-pole weather up there.

Doesn't matter where ya live, Darlin. You can never be 100% safe from crazy shit. Live in the place that would please you most for the next 10 minutes. Everything beyond that is a gift.

We have dormant volcanoes ATM. ;) St. Helens stirs occasionally with dome-building activity, but nothing on the scope of 1980.
Washington and Oregon both have similar traits in that there are different climates on either side of the Cascades. We get to enjoy the best of both worlds up here. If I had to pick a spot on the eastern side to reside, I'd probably go with something in the Cle Elum area. (For you Northern Exposure fans, Roslyn, where they filmed it is just a few miles away.) Not as much rain, warmer in the summer but not oppressively hot like further east, and still green year round.

And if Yellowstone blows, there's not a lot of places in the world that will be exempt from the fallout.

I never trusted Snape...

Oh, and shitty morning to you and GFYITA, Mitchell Zeller. When I get through all the nic I have, and have to finally resort to opening this, The Mrs. and I will be down to our last 150 years of 3mg mixing. When this runs out, I'll come kick you in the balls before I get old.

View attachment 51318

While you'r kicking him in the balls, borrow my Doc Martin steel toed shit kickers and my oak Louisville slugger bat. Give his balls a good left field bunt for me.

Your metaphors are so mixed, you should put them in a blender and make a smoothie.

OMG, my Bestie rolls me. He has NEVER met a metaphor he hasn't mixed. I have NEVER heard him, in 50+ years, EVER get one right. He doesn't do it on purpose, it's some strange brain thingy he has, but I can't help but fall down laughing almost every damn time. If he was a gurl, it'd be adorable.

I suspect that's true, the size of that thing... nuclear winter territory, most likely. Really I have to file that away under "sucks if it happens, but it probably won't, and nothing I can do about it either way." Hmm, maybe I should consider it in the same way I always thought of the potential for a nuke, back during the Cold War... best to be at ground zero than endure the long goodbye. In which case, yeah, east of the Cascades would be a good place, I'm thinking. I couldn't deal with all the rain of the western side, and the snow on the eastern side would mean I could grow blueberries and even have some apple trees. :)

There is some beautiful country over there that would probably fit those requirements rather well. And the rain, it's not bad once you get used to it. ;)

Afternoon all! I figured since part of my runaway family is here, I'd post here for my very first time :D Some of you may already know me from the other place but I know plenty of you from your posts over there--thank you for all of the info that got me started! I tend to lurk a bit to get a feel for people first.....And I've been lurking around VU's DIY section for a long time. @Huckleberried --thanks for a lot of great recipes I've borrowed from you :D Anyhoo....I figured it was about time that I signed up so I could ask questions of some of my favorite mixers and hang out with some of my favorite peoples :)

I could NEVER get used to it. If it rains for 2 days straight, I become massively depressed. Considering that W. WA gets about 300 days of rain a year... I'd just kill myself.

Hiya Kodak! About time you stopped lurking! Just so you know, it has become a common practice in this thread for people to say GFY to each other. It is meant in the most loving way. Well, usually, sometimes it's hard to tell when Moueix and Hank say it to each other. :D Just wanted to warn ya so you aren't caught off guard. Someone as innocent as you has probably never heard such language before so wouldn't want you to be offended.;)

checked my notes - that is the one that made the cut - now officially known as ButterBeer: Gryffindor Gold (not to be confused with the Slytherin Stout)

Cream soda, right? I tend to not like rootbeer, unless it's Vernors. Especially with a dollop of Vanilla Ice Cream.. mmmm...

Oh cool, thank you! I'll warn ya, some of those are over-flavored. They were created shortly after I quit smoking and had a more difficult time tasting mixes. I mix quite a bit lower these days. Welcome to the forum!

Oh crap, I've been calling my dog by the wrong nickname. When I got her she was Almost 4 pounds, so I called her that before I settled on Stasha (short for Nastasha). She's quite a bit huger than that now. Is too a word!

Apocalypto is an excellent movie!!!
