sticking with evolv, thank you very much,

the software alone is enough of a reason. I would have been embarrassed to show that when I was in highschool. (and I graduated back when win95 was just released)

In the Q class menu there is a option named link that needs to be turned on before doing any updates. I wonder if that's his problem.

usually you have to take the batteries out of the yihi mods to mess with them as far as doing updates.
not sure how the software side works.
I had my first "M" class in link mode and bricked it, trying to do the first upgrade. I had to go into their version of dfu and then reset it, take the batteries out and it went smooth.

So this weekend the wife and I were in Hanover PA, which has the most vape shops on a 5 mile city block than I've ever seen. The best of the 6 shops we visited (why wife's eyes never rolled so much) sold Vaporshark DNA 200's but didn't have any in stock. The price was the same as every where online for update versions. Had they been in stock, you'd be looking at pictures of me and the VS frolicking through a Lilly filled field. The neckbeard at the store said they may be in stock next week.

So am I better off buying it directly from VS or should I go for the instant gratification? Waiting on juice kills me so I can't imagine what the agony of waiting on my first DNA would be like...

I would hold out hope that maybe VS will run a Memorial Day Sale this weekend. I would normally say by local for the same price but since VS takes care of their customers so well and you would be ordering direct from the manufacturer, it's a tough call. I'd definitely be on the lookout for Memorial Day sales though. You could always give them a call and ask if they are going to be running a sale. Maybe if you ask nice you can swing a discount from them. It's just a thought.

Cheers,
Steve

what wings said...
wait and see if the do a memorial day sale, its usually 10-15% off.
but in the end, it doesn't matter where you actually buy it. VS will honor the warranty if its a B&M or Direct purchase
and they will service any of there mods regardless of acquisition

That was my next question; whether or not the warranty would be honored. The shop seems to be on the up and up and the reviews check out. its also nice to see the actual product you are purchasing and receiving; not something I get to do very much when it comes to vape gear.

My wife over heard me talking about a VS that was for sale on this forum. So, she logged in under my account and bought it for me. According to the seller it's the newer version and in good shape. Pretty excited to get it. I'll update when I do.

awesome dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! congrats!!!!!!

and yes, the warranty will hold, assuming this one is still under warranty
evolv will honor the chip warranty assuming it still has life left.

and either way, VS will service it for the lifetime you own it, albeit by service it, there is a fee but its not bad at all.

Thanks! I have not been this excited in a while. Funny thing is, I was actually talking to @VaporCarp via PM about buying his Volcano. All this was happening while we were sitting next to each other in bed. I turned to my wife and told her I was thinking getting the Volcano. She said "so you don't want a vapor shark anymore?" with a look of distress. I figured she had something in the works so I backed off. This morning I woke up and read through my PM's and was pleasantly surprised. The seller has only had it for two month, looks to be in great condition, has all the latest pre-sets and battery parameters (whatever that means) and comes with a shark skin. I have a PC coming from work in the next few weeks but at least I'll be able to use it until then.

One problem. I have not even touched the VS and I already have DNA fever. Now I want a lava box after coming close to getting carp's last night. That is one nice looking mod.

Haha! Once I find a system that works for me, I stick to it. I have a feeling I'm gonna like it. I can only hope to have a collection like yours and @f1r3b1rd one day.

First order of business once I'm done working is read the the links in your description.

with the vs, you don't have to do anything in the mod setup section. all that is done for you; so don't touch!
BUT watch the tutorial on evolv's website, ask some questions here; because the material section and a few odds and ends are new since the tutorial was recorded

That's what I like to hear; the less I have to do the better. However, I do want to familiarize myself with escribe and the capabilities of the VS so I'll def be reading and watching.

Tracking finally went live says it will be here Friday. The agony of anticipation has officially begun.

image.jpeg Look who showed up this morning... So far, I love this thing. I can run my SS TC at 500 degrees and 50 watts and get the same vape I get from my IPV5 or RX/VTC's at 70 watts 550 degrees. The 2amp charging is unreal and the form factor is perfect. I'm hoping the exterior finish really is improved as I'm not the biggest fan of the sharkskin. I do have a couple of questions one of them regarding the temp display. When in TC mode, the screen does not display the temp. Is that something I can change in escribe?

Congrats my friend. You can have the temperature be the big display by going into Escribe and checking the Temperature Dominate box in each TC profile. Don't forget to click on Upload Settings to Device at the top of Escribe when you are done making your changes.

yes, if you go into the screen tab you can set the display order and what is displayed where

2016-05-27 (1).png

also if you set the profile to be temperature dominant the temperature is displayed where the power is displayed now

as to the finish, I'm not sure when they did it, but they did resolve the finish issues, the one I have with a "born on date" : of 03/01/16 doesn't have a scratch on it- I do use the sharkskin if I know I'm going to be a questionable environment, but for day to day usage I rock it naked .(born on date is stamped or on a sticker inside the battery cover)

As @f1r3b1rd showed you in his first screen you can select what is displayed in the 3 smaller screens there. The only thing I'd add is in the charging display, the screens won't show while charging if the charging brightness is set to 0. I'm only mentioning that because it's how mine came. I'm not sure if VS increases the charging brightness, I usually set mine to about 50%. You should be all set my friend.

Steve

stock VS mods come set with the display like everything else.
this is how my VS screen is set. you'll notice the brightness and and fade out time is drastically reduced. I did that because I still want the option to see what it is doing; but, this notably increased the battery life.

Thanks a lot guys! I'm heading over to my parents house this weekend and will mess around with it but not too much. Other than the temp display it's set up just the way I would like it. Still can't get over how well the TC works. Ray is making me some stainless steel claptons that will be here tomorrow so that should be fun.

Question, I'm sure this has been discussed and could be found in the pdf manual but you can adjust watts and temp on the dna and not have to connect to a computer right?
Figured I coild get a quick one word answer and not have to download the pdf to my phone...

Yes you can adjust both from the mod. No need to hookup to Escribe to adjust either.

the only thing that you have to adjust from escribe is the preheat and punch intensity.
everything else, - material, temp and power are asjustable at the mod

the additional things in escribe you an change are
screens
orientation
display values
display value locations
timeout
brightness
battery settings
battery cutoff

Thanx to both of you.
Was looking at the hotcig dna 200 for $85. If nothing else but for the chip to put in a custom box later on.

Another one you might want to check out is the Hcigar VT133 for about the same price from Ecig.com with a coupon code. A few of us have picked it up recently and really like it. It uses 2 x 18650's so it's capped at 133 watts like all DNA200's are when using 2 cells. I happen to have them both :)

Cheers,
Steve

One thing about the DNA that takes some getting used to is all the clicking and unlocking. I'm starting to get it down but at first it was a bit fumbely.

Might also add to make sure you add any additional different materials you want to use and once you download them to your device you will have access to them.

If you are in temp dominant mode, click 5x to lock, hold the up and down buttons to change watts.

Friend just bought the brown Q class. God it is gorgeous.
If I were to get a Q it would be the Ferrari Red. Maybe if the price comes down, but not at 2 bills. I just got a VT133 and VT75 for $137 shipped (DNA200 and DNA75 chips). Just can't see paying $200 for the Q. Prices have come down since they were getting 200 for the Mini. Yihi is either going to have to adjust their business model or it won't be a big seller imo.

Cheers,
Steve

Had the Ferrari red on pre-order and cancelled it a couple weeks ago. Not worth it. And I can't stand their software. I'm glad I bought something for half the cost to try it. I'm sticking to evolve chips.

Agree with this, and if by interface you mean on the board I agree with that as well. But the software looks like a 15 year old made it.

200W is not 200W, it peaks at 172W mean then pulses in short burst to hit 195W or so and the batteries start getting uh-oh hot, it's pulling unsafe (the fact it even allows this is a WTF thing to me) amounts of current off of them.

So we shouldn't trust PBusardo or DJLsb Vapes? Cause both those guys clearly said it can and does hit the full 200W and then some
