so i decided a good single coil rta was in order, one with good performance, yet runs a little more gentle on battery life and juice consumption for vaping at work. the serpent looked perfect, i liked the looks, loved the top fill, and it was almost universally praised as a great single coil rta. got one 2 weeks ago, cleaned it up, and threw one of the pre-made coils it comes with on it. wicked it like the suck my mod video, filled it and went to vape it, about 1.5mls of juice promptly dumped out of the air holes.... ok, so failed first attempt, no biggie, it happens. pulled the deck, rewicked it, opened juice floe ALOT slower, and no more leaking, win! unfortunately the was about as much flavor as there was leaking, almost zero. so i pulled the deck again, yanked the premade coil, and threw in a clapton, 6 wraps or so, 3mm diameter coil, about a .8 i think. should be perfect for flavor, and again, damn near none. i was using a mixed berry juice, pretty aggressive flavor, and barely got anything. sigh.... very annoyed.

so has anyone else had this issue? what am i doing wrong here? i'm usually pretty good at working out any issues with hardware, but i just want to throw this damned tank across the room every time i look at. help me obi wan, you're my only hope!

That's the exact build I have. Is your coil as close to the air hole as possible? Mine is & the flavor is great.

i didn't make an effort to make sure the coil was as low as it could be, but it can't be that high, can it? i'll give it a shot and see what happens.

It's what everyone says, lower for more flavor. Lmk how it goes.

so i pulled the deck and there wasn't a whole lot of room between coil and air flow hole, squished it down anyways. i would say it's about 1mm or so from the hole (i'm american, so i don't know what 1mm looks like, but lets go with it anyways), barely enough room to get the flat head screwdriver blade between coil and hole (small screwdriver). flavor was marginally better, but still nowhere near what i was expecting.

Is your coil spaced or compressed? I generally space them. I think it helps with the flavor. How is your wick? What are you using? Organic Cotton or rayon? Check out Grimm Green's vid on YouTube it's pretty good.

ok, so i must have been channeling you, because when you posted this i had just run a new wick through a 4 wrap 3mm .5ohm spaced fused clapton sitting as close to the airhole as i feel is safe. first spaced coil i've tried, man it's not a pretty looking coil at all, but it does seem to be doing the job better. i had to change juice cuz i was out of the berry, so it's not a 1 to 1 comparison, but i definitely feel it's putting out more flavor. thanks for your help!

The juice leaks out of mine so fast I can't taste anything :(
So my first attempt did too, followed the wicking advice from review videos. It did not work. I left more wick on the deck and very little in the channel, this was my problem. I rewicked, running the wick to the bottom of the channel, opened the juice flow control pretty slow, only about two total turns until I get a couple of puffs in, after that I tend to crank it about wide open.

I always invert mine upside down when opening juice control. Not sure if you are doing that. I might have missed it in the posts. I have 6 serpents. One of my favorite tanks.

Try what ever coil works for you so far but put it in vertical, and wick it from outside only. I got the best out of Serpent with vertical coils. Huge difference in flavor.

I actually bought a bunch of notchcoils cause of all the hype.. long story short I completely disliked them in all my attys except the serpent.. it actually performs great in the serpent and creates the best flavor I have ever gotten out of the serpent.. Just a thought..

Wotofo Serpent is my favorite rta hands down. I basically remake Wotofos "Comp" wire coils that com with it twisted 28 gauge 5 wraps around a 2.50mm rod comes to .5-.55 ohms running at 25 watts awesome flavor.
