My buddy brought me a brass looking mechanical single 18650 mod with a dripper tank to set up for him. This being his first mod, i don't feel like it's very good mod for him to use. By any chance does anyone know what it is

So you answered your own question? If it doesn't have a deeply engraved serial number and lion's head on it, then it's a chinese clone of a king mod

it very worn but it has the lion head and serial number on it along with king on the other side.

Hopefully it has a good quality, authentic battery and a coil that's appropriate for the amp rating of the battery

It was a king now it is a modified pulse fired filthy hunk of shit.
Looks like it is one press from taking buddies booger hooks off in a epic failure, if he REALLY lucky it will knock some of his teeth out and roast his mug.

I rebuilt the tank to a .45 and the battery is good. it fires without any problem after some cleaning was done.

Some of the chinese clones had the lion head and sn# etched lightly, some not etched at all. So if it's worn, most likely a clone. The authentics were etched very deep.

The vent hole plugged with a screw onto the battery side.. not sure how deep that goes but looks like it will be an issue down the road if it screws with the wrapper.

Depends on the battery.
Get an inline or borrow and inline and see what the voltage drop is.
