Looking to venture into DIY

Like many I vape through a lot of e juice, and it's getting crazy expensive. I want to get into DIY not only to save a bit but because it seems like something I'd have fun with.

The amount of flavorings and different recipes out there calling for specific brands is quite overwhelming. I know a flavor I will have to recreate is CRACKPIE any idea of the best Caramel, vanilla, and Graham cracker crust flavoring? Can I get it all at the same place? Is using different flavor vendors necessary to get started or should I just get my feet wet first? Sorry for the barrage of questions.

There is no best specific flavor, it's about individual taste.
Recipes call for specific brands because flavors of different manufacturers are of different concentration, but it doesn't mean you can't replace one with the other if you adjust the quantity.
Those recipes that you see are not written in stone, they are just a personal preference of the persons that made them.

So you can either buy flavors from several manufacturers as stated in the recipes you like, or just buy all the flavors you like of a single manufacturer, then if there is a specific flavor you didn't like, buy it from a different manufacturer.
I would choose one of the following to start with: TFA, FA, CAP

Thanks, I suspected as much. Do you have any experience with liquid barn Nicotine?

I buy the Liquid Barn Nic Select and it is perfect for what I want. Totally clear and no peppery taste.

I had, and still have a lot of the same questions. What worked for me is to find a few recipes from well known and reviewed mixer (HIC is awesome on VU!) and getting the flavors needed for them. I got my "feet wet" from there, and have adjusted those recipes to my own liking. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot create my own...I suck at finding a start point for percentages and stuff. I just borrow from the community and have been very happy with the results! You seem to have a good idea of what flavor you're looking for. A few good starting points are e-Liquid Recipes and a plug to Vaping Undergrounds DIY guru HIC.

I have not used Liquid Barn Nic, but I have had great results from my order from Nude Nicotine. Be sure to get some feedback from others before you order from the barn, I got hosed on some bad nic on my first purchase from ecigexpress. All the flavor extracts I got from them were great, but the nic was harsh and peppery. Could have just been a bad batch though. Do not be afraid of ordering from separate vendors for items.

If you have never used any products from Liquid Barn I do not feel you are qualified to offer an opinion on the quality of the products or services offered by them. JMHO

I agree. Would you please point out where I offered an opinion on the Liquid Barn? I believe I recommended them to solicit requests from those that have used them in the past. I offered my opinion on nic purchased from ecigexpress, which I have used.

You insinuated that before buying from Liquid Barn he should get feedback which I do not disagree with but that sounds ominous like a warning.

Do lots of reading around here and you'll find the most popular flavors/brands/recipes.
Same with NIC, as I've used both Nude Nicotine and (VT)VaporsTek & both were excellent.
And also the cheapest places for PG & VG, as there are several threads with more info.
Other brands have some excellent flavors as well, like INW, and even FW.
You might have to try 5 different brands of Strawberries to find the one/s you like best.
It's just the nature of the beast in DIY.
Welcome to VU BTW...

Maybe a Google search will turn up a quality CRACKPIE clone recipe you can use as a guideline, but it is possible the original manufacturer does not use the "best" flavors.

To add to the fine suggestions already posted, once you determine where you plan on ordering supplies, please check here for possible available, $$ saving, coupon codes.

In your shoes I would order a nic. sample from Nude Nicotine.
