Just start simple and hone your skills before you try to make complex flavor concoctions is what I always try to suggest.

When I was thinking about doing DIY on that other forum I found so many A-Hole supposed Guru's want people to think you must be a chemistry professor when it is as simple as making something on top of the stove. Just make sure your nicotine calculations are precise.

DIY is something I always wanted to do, but never motivated myself enough to order the supplies and do it.

So frinking true Steve! They even call themselves DIY gurus!

The people on this forum have a better outlook/knowledge and acceptance of new diy'ers. That is key.

There is one over there who till this day swears that a LB starter kit is a waste because they sell you things you will not use. There is nothing I have not used in the starter kit. I once asked him if he never bought one how can he say that and asked him to tell me what I will never use? No reply with an answer. Thinks he is the only one who knows how to DIY.

Edited name out of respect!

Well I do know we are on a diyflavorshack thread so I will respectfully not comment on other vendors. I do know the kits sold by Dawn are good starters. Yes, one can buy things separate but I remember listening to the so called DIY gurus and spent more money buying at different places. I would have saved money by just buying the simple kit. LOL live and learn.

At least they talked to you. I usually was ignored by the top dog gurus over yonder. They are still playing in the school yard.

First do some research and reading ask a few questions and your off to becoming a Mixologist. Seriously if you can make a mixed drink you can do DIY.

Remember start simple with stand alone flavors and once you get going the creativity will shine through.

ok my DIY tips
since your probably going to be in this for the long run. Just start with mixing by weight. There is a guide somewhere in teh DIY section that is spot on.
WHY. syringes and droppers get annoying after a while. A $20 40 scale works perfectly
then i like a little plastic funnel for pouring from big bottles to little bottles
i also have a few pippettes for when i need just a little of something and trying to squeeze or pour would be too easy to put too much in

mixing by weight is easier and neater usually

now

next tip
youlll have to figure out what brands of flavorings you like

this can be expensive
and where most beginers waste the most money

so i started with the one single flavor i liked the most - peach
ordered it form about 4 different brands
found which brand i liked and mainly use their flavors. i only use other flavors if lots of people say its better then my preferred brand or my preferred brand doesnt make it.

next to fruit flavors
i can only speak on 3 brands but i will say this
CAP AND TFA fruit flavors are CANDIED fruit flavored
while FA fruits are more like biting into a fresh fruit
nothing wrong with either just depends on what you like

next tip
before you even try combing 2 flavors
you need to find out how you like the 2 flavors individually to create a ratio

ill use my peach mango recipe
which is
3% FA white peach
2% FA peach
1%fa mango

to arrive at this

i first tried white peach at different %s to see when i liked it
then peach
then mango

now for this simple recipe
it turns out I like 3% fa white peach as a stand alone flavor
and the same for the other 2
so that was simple
but it gives you a starting point

because what if when i mixed those 3 i found i couldnt taste the mango
how much more do i add????
well i like itt and can taste it at 1% stand alone
so if that were the case i would try 1.5% mango and not go up to say 3% mango

but if it were the white peach i couldnt taste since I already had 3% in then i would try 4% or possibly 5% on the next mix

so knowing what you like each flavor individually as a stand alone helps you figure out how to adjust your mixes

for some figuring out the right %s is fun...i get annoyed to easily and lose my patience quickly

if you want really good recipes to start with
go to the DIY section and look for Head In Clouds or HIC's recipes\
he has many mnay free ones here
and he has a website where you can buy his reipes for like 3 or 4 each and TBH most people love them
and hes very helpful with subbing flavors. so if you have 6 out of teh 7 flavors his recipe calls for but you have something form a different brand flr the 7th he will tell you his opinion on if it would work, if soething else would work better and what % to use. Since %s can change on the ssame flavor between brands.

I've been mixing for over 3 years haven't bought a single bottle of pre-mixed juice since that first day IMHO everyone should try it, you can make far better tasting juice than you can buy

DIY is actually easy as shit

the problems you will encounter is figuring out the brands and flavors you like

having all the different flavors you need for a recipe you just found and want to try

and doing the trial and error to figure out the %s you like and the mix of flavors you like

for some that is fun

thats all the issues you have with DIY

to help you get started

chemnic.com
has a free sample on nic i think the coupon code is freesmaple
its like $2 for the shipping you get a few ml of nic to try

they also have premixed flavors

i got the cinnamon apple danish as a free sample a few weeks ago
and damn its good

i find their nic to be clean and wonderful and as good as nic i paid almsot 3x the amount for

but be careful ordering nic in the summer
if it sits on trucks for 2-7 days getting to you it could skunk

so theres one place to start

save up all your old bottles, clean them out and you dont need to buy bottles

Got out of the office on time - was wondering for a bit.
Went to DMV - got the bike registered and temp tags - regular plate should be here within 10 days.
