It appears to me the gold standard of bottom feeders is largely ignored among the new squonkmen & squonkbabes of the Vaping Underground, & this new Bottom Feeders / Squonking section lacks perspective because of it.

Cheap introductory set-ups (<$60) seem to dominate the discussions, & some very expensive exotics (>$500) have been unveiled. The middle ground-- the popular, reliable, affordable, beautiful yet rugged Reo has been largely overlooked.

This thread is intended to introduce the Reo to vapers new to squonking, & to gather those veterans who know the truth.

I have several REOs and have used them - the metal ones - since 2013. They are the standard I measure all others by. Yes, there are more expensive and those are mostly more craft than anything. REOs are tried and true and the customer support Rob offers is top shelf.

As for the cheaper models, I am thankful there are a plethora of affordable choices for people to experience bottom feeder mods/atties. They can then decide to venture to the more costly ones. I am on the list for a CC (Custom Classic on ECF) mod because I love the work of the modder and want to support his endeavors and I want a stainless steel mod! :)

I love lookin' at all things Squonk, but honestly, I simply have not yet found a regulated vape that I like as much as my mech Reos - so I haven't bought a regulated squonker (yet). So yeah - my main go-to all day gear is one Reo or another.
I DO use my Dripbox though - especially when travelling (which I do a lot) - if it dies, so what? It's like $30...

I owe a deep debt of gratitude to the REO - its what finally got me off the smokes for good. Love mine. If I could only have one mod for the rest of my life, it would be an REO.

REOs were my first squonkers. I had 4. Sold 2. PIF 2. I was always hoopling positive contacts. Telling rob this just made him get snarky, call me a button masher, and release the hounds who attack button mashers.

About a month after i pif my last one, he released the heavier contacts. Now corey sells contact upgrades too. And replacing the spring with a solid bolt reportedly boosts performance.

The P67 look interesting too

Are you referring to arcing from the positive contact?
I noticed mine doing that yesterday. The only way to get to stop was to bend the positive contact.
Is there another solution?

No. Pushing hard and snapping it is what I meant.

When I think vapergeddon I think single battery tube mech, or simple bf box. At most an okl20 board or something of the like with minimal electronics

I'm not an electrician or chemist, & I cannot tell the difference between the 2, so use whichever I find 1st. LOL.

I apply a very small amount to the end of the positive contact where it will touch the battery, & no longer see a spark in the dark there. The top of the negative spring also deserves a little dab.

I have a question for the Reo experts. I'm working a trade for another Reo, & I have a choice of a LP/SL Grand or a SL P67. Will 22mm attys fit/function on the P67?

Yes, the flat top of the P67 makes a 22mm atty fit even more comfortably than on the pedestal of a LP Grand.

I've seen the heavier gauge positive contacts. Took me a bit reading this, only scanned once before. Not heard mention of a bolt replacing the spring. Any old bolt do the trick? I'm sure there's probably something a bit more to that. You seem have some info on it, so I ask.

In order to heat up and sag under an overload, the spring intrinsically has to be made of some relatively high resistance material. So any old bolt is probably better than the spring from a conductivity perspective. If you're looking to buy something off-the-shelf, brass would probably be the best choice. If you're ordering the positive contact as well, I believe Corey offers a custom-made lower contact screw now too that's solid silver. You can't get better conductivity than that, and more importantly, it has excellent properties at the contact interface.

I am probably aware, yet not having it register. How does one contact Corey? I'll read back a little in case I missed something.

ETA: Alright, got it. Took me a bit to piece together Corey's Custom Classics. It's Sunday, my kidney is at the cleaners. :)

Note to self: Get in touch w/ Corey to find out how much a silver bolt costs. The logic, it'll improve the clone/s I have until affording the real deals, even then it'll improve the real deals. :)

Done, check.
