Took the bike out for a ride - went about 20 miles and topped off the tank on the way back. Think it need to get the lifters adjusted - probably will take it somewhere for that - I do some wrenching but I know my limits.
Think I'll ride down to Denny's for a late lunch.

Good rest helps the healing process buddy
Rode to lunch, ate and rode back. Bike almost didn't make it back. Less than a mile from the house the motor sputtered once and the RPM's dropped to barely above idle. Couldn't get any more from it and seen the engine check light was on. Made it to the house, got it in the garage and shut it down. Did a quick check on things and didn't find anything obvious. Started it again - fired up no problem but after about 3 second the light was on again - shut it down fast. Started taking a closer look - seen something on the bottom of the coil - casing had opened a bit and some goo had oozed out. Coil dying but had enough to get the bike back inside - glad it didn't happen farther away.
Did some internet searches and made a call to the local dealership - they had one on hand. Jumped in the truck and headed out. 100 bucks later I got a new coil - guess I'll be a mechanic tomorrow.
