What exactly is happening when setting the Mini Volt to soft-standard-power?

As a MTLer, the power setting seems to produce a better throat hit than the same wattage setting on other devices. IMO it may be the best aspect of the MV.

Does it just ramp up to full wattage quicker and do any other devices have a similar feature?

Thanks, sure seems like something firmware designers could easily create.
