Bending Coil Legs and Fitting Nickel Coil onto Aromamizer RDTA Question

More Wraps or Less Wraps? What's best for an everyday build?

Hey everyone,

First post on this community, just joined. Have been building for a while, more recently started making ejuice. Most issues I can research and find out but have two that have gone unsolved for a while now.

1. Even the post perfect coil always gets warped when I screw it into the base. My leg bends to fit into the deck seem to never be right. Anyone have some tips on how to do this better? I have needle nose pliers, but still always a bit off. How do the pictures with perfect coils on the deck keep their form during final install??

2. Lately have been using my Aromamizer RDTA, works great with kanthol. On tanks I like nickel, so want to try it on here. Only problem is the number of coils needed to get up to .15 ohms and still have it fit is 10-11 wraps around a 2.5-3mm diameter 30g nickel wire (lower gauge requires even more wraps). This combo does not allow room between wraps (used in nickel builds), and has to bend a bit to fit. Anyone have experience with nickel on this or similar decks? How can I get a double nickel build on this deck without dropping below .1 ohms?

Appreciate any help on this subject, will really get me over a major chink in my building strategy.

Thanks,
CoilChemi$t

I don't want to bust your bubble, but it looks like your target resistance is too high to use nickel wire. Have you tried stainless steel? Oh, one other thing, please tell me you're not using nickel in wattage mode...

Welcome to VU!

Is your mod's limitation at 0.1 Ohm for TC? Usually, due to the low resistance of Ni wire, most mods allow for a lower coil build. However, you can use http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp as guideline for your builds.
As you realized, in order to get a higher resistance coil build with less wraps, you'd have to use thinner (higher gauge) wire.
Having to bend the legs of the coil(s) isn't a problem either.

1. Pretty coils DO NOT vape better than ugly coils......... Those coils in videos are made by people who have practiced making coils, and often did a bunch of tweaking and adjusting and prettying, that was edited out. They get those perfect coils by bending with tools over other tools.

2. sounds like you need thinner wire. Or maybe try SS for TC builds.

To keep the coils from warping when you screw them in, keep them on the screwdriver/bit/shaft that you used to build them on while installing.

I'd ditch nickel and switch to 316SS.

This goes for purchased pre-wrap coils also... Find a tool with the same id, as what was used to make the coil.

Just make sure not to fire it while the tool is inside or you'll short it and pop a leg.

The same tool can also be used to straiten/pull/raise/lower the coil into place after tightening the post screws.

I agree 100%
The coils that aren't pretty enough to send out to customers, I keep and use them myself. They are 100% functional, and I always have a stash for when I feel like switching things up, or have a new atty I wanna try out real quick.
