Things to look out for when vaping in airports

I've just transit from smoking to vaping recently, and when I was traveling (I travel for work often), I realize some people do vape in airports.

Personally, I am not so open to vaping everywhere I go. Probably due to my years of smoking (trying to be considerate).

But do anyone of you have encounter any problem vaping in airports? Came across this article but just to ask if anyone have any experience before?

I generally vape the same way that cvcrcr99 vapes. If I'm desperate for a nic fix, I might run into the bathroom, but even then, stealth as much as possible.

I'm also one who doesn't vape where smoking isn't allowed. I think it's just the considerate thing to do.The last thing we need is to do anything that would cast us in a negative spotlight in public.

I live in the UK, so where you can and cannot vape in airports is made clear. Hethrow as a designated area for vaping in terminal 4.

Is it for both vaping and smoking, or vape specific?

I'm the same as many, I don't vape where I wouldn't smoke. The only exception are around people that enjoy the smell, who have actually asked me to vape around them.

It'd be immoral and cruel not to oblige such a request :giggle:

Where I am, there are designated vaping areas that are also used for smoking. Thus, the question of "Is it for both vaping and smoking, or vape specific?"

I treat vaping like smoking, probably coming from being a smoker. Even if there aren't signs exclusively saying so many places in the u.s. are adopting regulations that prohibit vaping same as smoking in public areas. I figure if vapers go nuts with the thought that there's no actual sign or rule against it that will only fuel those looking to regulate vaping further. Why make the case for them.

They allow smartphones and laptops on planes but not sure what their stance would be on mods/batteries. Especially with the handful of exploding vape stories they might view it as a potential hazard. Not saying actually vaping, but if making it known you had a mod on you with batteries.

I'm with skt239, they might mistake a mod for a detonator or something. Last time I was through dfw airport I got stopped, id checked, hand swabbed for explosives residue and I look about as opposite of a shoe bomber as anyone could lol. Clean shaven, high and tight. At least it wasn't as bad as flying into sfo after 9/11 when the national guard was there. Someone must have done something, had a soldier yell at me and a couple others to get down and leveled his m-16 someplace past us. They were a bit tense.

In a lot of public places where I live, they have added "no vapor" next to "no smoking". However, I don't vape where smoking is not allowed even though our state AG stated that vaping did not break any no smoking laws.

I did get questioned by a campus cop where I work about my mod not too long ago. To make a long story short, he thought my mod was a "drug delivery device" until I explained to him what it was. And I have been pulled over a few times by cops thinking the same thing.

That's how I interpreted it as well. Maybe I should have highlighted all of "designated area for vaping" for the mentally challenged.
It is an offence to smoke in an enclosed public space in the UK, thus it can only be for vapers. The law does not prevent this.

Oh wow, if things get worse over here, maybe I can convince my wife to move to Germany. I still own an apartment there, close to Munich.

LoL. Before you pack up and leave the US. I must inform you that EU law on vaping is interpreted differently in the member countries, so check what Germanys' stance is on vaping before you leave. The UK is pro vaping.

Vaping only

Thanks for the clarification!

Around here, vaping and smoking are seen exactly the same. So, neither is allowed indoors anywhere, and I've never seen an area for vaping only.

Vapers call it the "vaping area" and smokers call it the "smoking area," but its the same place. So, the vernacular is specific to individual use, rather than being an accurate descriptor. I've always found subtle social/cultural differences like that fascinating.

I feel that smoke kind of ruins the experience. There may be other issues over there, but at least that isn't one of them!
