How long do you keep your batteries and how do you decide when its time to ditch them?

Just curious as to how long you folks keep your batteries and when/how you decide it is time to retire them.

I have been vaping for just under a year and have a good supply of Samsung and LG 18650 and AW 18500 and a couple of eFest and AW 18350's and rotate them religiously and marry them when needed, but thought I would ask....

I keep mine until they no longer function. I have a lot so not every one gets used every day, or even every other day. In almost four years, I've only had to discard maybe half a dozen of my oldest batteries. I still have 350s that I bought 3 years ago that, to the best of my knowledge, still work.

The only batteries I have tossed in the recycle bin were a pair of Efests I bought before I knew better. All my AW, LG, Samsung, and Sony's are still going strong.

It's actually a fairly good point. Aren't they supposed to be recycled? But if so, where do you bring them?

i have only tossed aka recycled batteries that either refuse to hold a CHARGE or ones that lost their internal resistance aka near misses with venting but i tend to get new ones before that happens these days but back in my mech days it happened more frequently

I got several 650's that don't cut it for vaping anymore. I pulled out my old intellicharger and charged them up again. Last couple nights we've had our son and his wife drive home for the weekend and those old 650's along with my LUC charger with a USB port powered the bluetooth speaker outside all evening. Worked great that there was no power cord needed for the speaker. Found a 2nd life for those old batts and that ancient intellicharger.

The simple answer answer is that batteries loose capacity over time and once you feel they are not cutting it, just ditch them and get new ones.

Home Depot also recycles batteries.

You can go to http://www.call2recycle.org/locator/ and enter your zip for a list of recyclers in your area and what type they accept.

Sweet, thanks, I've got a dozen that my wife ratcheted in her SVD that are now so dented on the positive that they don't work in anything else. They still charge, though.
