In the last 2 days I had 2 mods crap out on me. I really liked both mods and had them in my rotation as daily drivers. I have contacted both companies but I am not expecting much as both mods are out warranty. From now on I'm just sticking with Evolv, Yihi, and FSK. To date I have never had any problems with these types of mods. Everything else just seems to be second rate in build quality and customer service. Every time I have bought a mod that did not have one of these boards it has been nothing but problems. Would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this subject.

knock knock knocking on wood
I'm yet to have a mod fail on me.
Maybe this is caused by the fact that all buy two of my mods are in my rotation and since I have the amount I do, this leads to each one receiving less use.
The more mods I buy, the less use all the others get because they have to wait for their turn to come back around.
Or maybe I've simply been lucky so far.
I'm actually hoping that it is more because the mods I have aren't going to fail.
However, I think we all know better than that.
Sooner or later each one will stop working.
Electronics of today just won't last 50+ years like the old transistor radios.

Yeah, I hear ya but I expect to get at least a year out of them. Not 4-6 months. I have 8 in my daily rotation so it's not like they're ridden hard and put away wet. Lol.

What crapped out on you?

I have to admit, I have only strayed from my normal once. I had an isitick 100tc for about two weeks to review and then gave it to a guy at work. other than that I use mechmods, prorape, evolve boards, yihi/sx boards and hexohm/okl.

outside of the dna40 disaster I have never had an issue with any lf those with electronics, and I push them pretty hard myself.

I had a Cloupor 100W crap out, actually short out and fry the board, had a DNA40 that crapped out and after 2 replacements finally worked. VS was pretty cool about that mess. My OkI, YiHi, and DNA200's are robust and I beat on them pretty hard. The VF Stout I have works well, but not t 100W, Max of about 75W, which is more of a battery limitation than anything else. 26650's are not known for being able to provide steady high currents like the 18650's are.

Yeah man, the Flask is what really pisses me off. I love the form factor of the flask. Guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy the VS Flask. The Coolfire I can't bitch to much about because I won it.

You might be able to retrofit another board into the flask

I stick to Evolv and Yihi as a backup. I'll shock everyone and say I prefer Evolv over everything. :D :teehee::giggle::devil:

i do not have a hexohm v2 zazaman does and loves it
the use th eokl 120 board and a dirt simple. set the potentiometer to get your power wattage. no tc no display nothing. SIMPLISTIC. less to break less to worry about
the board itself could last decades the case is solid
if you need to replace the 510 or swithc or pot you can odit yourself relatively easy and those parts are $5 and not something you would need to worry about with FDA egs since everything is just a standard electronics part

i have the Xohm v3 made down the road from hexohm same idea, but i got one with teh PWM board..and it has a LED to tell you volts left in battery. Once again everything easy to replace down the road. fda cant regulate these parts they are basic electronics parts. each part itself can be bought retail for under $10. the board itself should last decades. I got the PWM cuz i got a steal on ebay and thats what the seller had. zazaman might recommend the okl board is better. course i could buy the board and install it if i felt like it.

basically this style mod is DIRT simple less to go wrong everything is easily accessible and replaceable but you neet some soldering and building experience to do it well.
xohmuniverse.com is the site for mine they come with either PWM or okl boards
they go up to lke 120 watts .3 lowest build on okl board .2 lowest build on pwm board

I love mine, had it almost 2 months now and have dropped it numerous times, you cant tell. Its the one mod I think I will have forever

Never heard of Xohm... but the hexohm uses an oklt-20 board for variable voltage. (the 2 and 2.1) its a board used in alot of power management applications. (led lights among several others) the mod has a lifetime warranty also. Its also easy for hobbyists to work on should they be so inclined

I have a couple mods, a Hexohm 2.1 and a T20 Squonker. Both use the same OKI board and are just stellar performers. No fuss, dial in your vape to flavor and warmth you like and just stick with it.

Yep, power only. I use SS in all my attys now. Works really well on a HexOhm
Can you run a Crown on it with a SS pre built coil. I'm thinking it's a regulated mod but a bare bones one. Would that be right?

Yes you can
The oklt20 can run anything over a 0.3
It will fire lower, but you run the risk of burning out the board.
The board wasn't meant for vaping but its a stellar performer. if the DNA is the rolls Royce of vaping, the okl is the corvette. its just pure performance. I think of it as regulating a Mech mod.

Edit: no screen, no frills or luxuries, dial in your vape and rock out, I get a day and half on a pair of batteries with a 0.28-0.3 ohm build.

i can so feel the love..
yes i spent actually $55 on it plus 6.95 shipping
and here is why
I did alot of research on these type of mods
i wanted the hexohm v2
and discovered the xohm
the xohm has two additonal benefits - the LED, which is basically a battery meter, and a master on/off switch
I was actually considering build my owm mod
but the xohm is exactly what i wanted in terms of features
i found them on sale at vaporbeast i belive for about $73
i was going to buy it there
but checked ebay and found somebody letting like 3 go for a low price
and got one

i wanted this style of mod becuase it is user servicable
Unlike the evolve boards - PWM and OKL boards are not vape boards, they are power boards used in many applications as someone mentioned
the only vape part is the 510, which theorectically can last forever since its just metal threads with a place to solder wires on it.
the box is not vape related- hammond boxes are used in multitudes of applications even guitar effect pedals
switches are swithces, wires are wires, battery sleds are battery sleds, LEDs are LEDs
BASICALLY
no matter what the FDA does to vaping - I can rebuild this thing forever. now granted I aint the best at building small electronics and have never built a mod, I feel confident in all my skills to replace one part at a time
so for about $60 I have a mod that I - not someone else - can keep running forever. so fuck the FDA and any rules they come up with. SO this is a very much worthwhile investment for me versus say a IPV5 which I can not rebuild myself forever. who knows if the chipset in it will be available for sale in 2 years if it goes out etc while i will not argue that ipv products could be repaired, but the parts are very specific and may not be available when needed. Versus the hexohm and xohm which uses a genericish box that gives you some flexibility in swapping out parts

in terms of what it is in comparison to other devices
take a mech mod add the ability to adjust the Voltage output form 0 to 100% of the batteries capacity using a dial(potentiometer) and depending on the board...reverse polarity protection is possible as well. oh and in the case of the xohm add a battery meter (the LED) and an on off switch

or take an ipv5 - remove the screen and replace it with a led that only displays the volts of the battery, only works in power mode no buck or boost, remove TC remove some saftey features change the buttons to adjust power with a dial(potentiometer) add an actual switch that turns it on and off and change the fire button to just be a fire button.

dirt simple mod that should hold up along time with no service needed if taken care of well

Also I paid about $50 for my IPV D2 cuz i bought it the day they were released and in stock in the USA
and I paid $50 for a used 3li a few weeks later
both of which still work perfectly today

I will pay goo dmoney for something, but i am cheap and like to find a deal. I woul dnot have spent $140 or more on a new hexohm v2 or the xohm..but I do believe $70-80 is more of teh range I would be willing to pay for them new maybe even 100, but thats only my opinion and I am not the market

YiHi and Evolv are the top. The edge goes to Evolv in performance and CS Though.Since they are in the US and if you are, they will get you back up in a week. However it is a tossup because Evolv's fuse can blow if you D!ck around but YiHi pretty much just never breaks.

Darn, you can say the F word on here? Now I came to the right place. No wonder I got banned from that other Pu55Y A$$ board. What the F ever happened to freedom of speech? If A Mod sucks(I mean Ecig not Moderator lol.) I want to let it have it! That is only helping other people the way I see it. We are all over 18 hopefully so I think we can handle the language. Well, Sh!t I am a whole lot over 18 like multiples of it haha.

Don't discount the FSK board. It's right up there with Evolv and Yihi. It definitely holds its own.

Yeah, except I do not know of FSK LOL. Either I am an idiot or I just don't know which Mod's have it. So, which ones do? I bet I would know the Mod's. I just don't know FSK. Which is very odd because I am sure I should know it!

You can say pussy ass, also.

Like deuce said, fsk board is great- its in the ohmwrecker mods.
Also the okl boards, which are in the hexohm style mods.

That is why I did not know! I never had the benefit of owning one of those. I will say I have an original SX Mini I beat the snot out of and it still works but looks like it saw battle.

I am elated you can speak your mind here. Censorship is Bullshit IMO.

Welcome, I left that other place months ago because of censorship and the childish behavior of the mods. I will never go back. I consider myself an asset to any vaping community and I refuse to be part of such a poorly administered one. That SX is a tough lil beast.

That is exactly my sentiment. Amen. They engaged in something I was simply furious about so screw them. When I used language I was of course banned.. Freedom of speech is a right. Hatred and bigotry are another matter entirely.

I do not really give a crap about clones. Don't personally get them though. I think the real Flask was great but do not know if there is a DNA200 version or YiHi for that matter. Real or not, if it has the chip good enough. Just the machining may not be as good that's all.

Some What?

As to what he said I also feel I am an asset to Vaping and do not need childish bs either. I have been vaping 7 years since Cigalikes. Sure, I have questions but I am pretty well seasoned about this hobby. Not to blow my own horn I am just saying I know my way around this stuff.

You mean the SX Mini? thing is built like a tank. Don't use it anymore and it looks rotten but it is my oldest working mod. The new Q class looks and feels like crap to me. Plus there demo where they pull 30+ amps out of a 20 amp battery to reach 200 Watts is just brilliant. If you want 133 watts and two batteries fine. Not 200. If it actually will that is very dangerous. I like other two battery mods but the Q class is just way overpriced IMO.However the chip remains rock solid. It does not have the efficiency or customization of the DNA200 but it is still a top contender. If someone likes the Q Class by all means buy it! I just don't care for the look/feel. The mod is great so long as you do not go above 133 watts or you are asking for it. Few people do anyways.

The majority of my mods are powered by Yihi boards, then Evolv, then Joyetech.

I do find that my Yihi devices are solid, as are my Evolv powered devices. The Joyetech ones are great and I love them, I just don't love the 510 connection.

I do have a few mods by other companies such as SMOK, and I do enjoy these mods, but I do find the other devices to perform better, and in the future any more mods will likely be Evolv or Yihi unless it is something really innovative that I feel I must have.

In regards to reliability it's not so much a matter of which chip is used, but which other components are used.
Had problems with several mods, but none of them were related to the chips.

So Innokin responded back this morning. Kudos to them for being first. For some reason they are telling me to plug the mod in for at least 6 hours. Plugged her in at 10 AM. Let's see what happens.
