In need of a good durable mod, is there such a thing?

ive gotten ipv's, tirade,sigelei,Kanger........couple mech mods too. Would like a regulated one that can be dropped and still work. Something were I don't wear off the crappy leather.........something that doesn't melt. Something that can put in pocket and not accidentally fire. Something like a "timex"mod. If I have to shell out the cash, I want something real. Looking at mini class g or q.......thought about VT133. Is it the same ole same ole? Where can I find quality? G2?

The VT133 has nothing on the G2 when it comes to build quality. There really is no caparison. Build quality wise the G2 is head and shoulders above the Vt133. Brand new the best place to get one is ecig.com. They're $73 but use ecig10 and get 10% discount off an already great price.

I tell you what the heatvape invader is a cheap (like $10) mod. It works fine, pocket friendly and you can bounce that thing off the pavement (which I have several times) and it keeps on trucking. It's not the prettiest thing ever but for sheer durability it's decent.

The most durable mod I own is one of my first non-pen vapes, the IPV D2. I've dropped dozens of times and its never missed a beat.

The original CoolFire IV is your best bet. I've dropped one of mine while getting out of our truck, so a hard, spinning drop of about 5ft, to concrete. Little ding on the bottom edge, but works perfectly. Also, the original CoolFire IV's have an off/on switch on the bottom, so you can easily "lock" it without having to overstress the fire button.

Also, they're not expensive.

Yeah but ya gotta be able to find one in stock somewhere tho. I've been looking, because I want one, and they are always out of stock :(

Sweet! Thanx Andria :bliss:

They're awesome mods, and I LOVE that off/on switch. Really peeved that my CF4-75w-TC's don't have that, OR the charge port. But I do love having a couple of CF4s that take external batteries, even if they are just a smidge larger and lack the off/on switch.

It is an awesome mod with a great board that gets no respect. Unfortunately, I just can't recommend it. About two weeks ago I had 2 mods crap out on me. My Coolfire TC 100 and my Vape Forward Classic Flask. I acquired these mods at around the same time. Maybe a month apart the Classic being the older one. They were both 5-6 months old. I decided to give both companies a call and see what happens. Innokin basically told me sorry the mod only has a 90 day warranty. Basically I was shit out of luck. VF was much more sympathetic and explained to me that I was out of warranty but we would still love to help you out. They told me they would replace it with a refurb as long as I was willing to pay for shipping. They said it wouldn't be cosmetically perfect and might have a chip or a ding here or there but it would work. I was more than happy to pay for the shipping both ways but they said no just send it in and we will send you back the refurb on our dime. Wow! I was pleasantly surprised. That's customer service. That's the kind of service that creates brand loyalty. So while I do like the Coolfire be prepared to deal with the typical chinese product run around should something go wrong. Definitely an advantage to buy American even if the mod is actually made in China. American companies like VF and Hohmtech tend to have great customer service that goes beyond their stated warranty. It really is a shame because the Coolfire quickly became one of my favorite mods. It's compact, light, simple to use and has enough power for most vapers. I just wished they cared more about their customers like VF and Hohmtech.

Well, the original CF4 and the 100w TC CF4 are entirely different mods. The originals have an all-metal body, which is extremely durable. And they also have that off-on switch, which the OP expressed an interest in, to keep from autofiring, and of course it also protects the fire btn from overuse.

This is the one I'm using today in fact; my very first Cf4, now almost a year and a half old, still works as well as the day I got it, despite that 5 ft spinning forceful drop onto concrete. The 2nd pic shows the ding on the bottom edge, and the small scratch about 1.5" up from it, which were the only results of that drop. (and you can see the off/on switch on the bottom)

I have the CoolFire IV plus and its a very durable little thing. But it needs a Jwrap for it (the paint is horribly chipped). I really had wanted the original but EVERYWHERE I looked they were OOS until the site Andria recommended :stars2:!
I have also been wanting to get the next upgrade from that, the TC75. I really love Innokin.

@Deucesjack maybe you just had gotten a defect?:(

I have a couple of those TC-75w's, and they're great too; they've got that durable metal body, not the plastic that some of the other models have -- the plastic body was a major turnoff for me, with all the models between the originals and the TC-75w. Just because I'm a terrible klutz and really NEED durable! :D

Andria

PS - celtic -- if you want some really durable paint/enamel, check out the Sigelei miniBooks, if you can still find them anywhere; UNBELIEVABLY gorgeous enamel which is UNBELIEVABLY durable -- not even any dings from my wedding ring, though I often vape left-handed.

Me too which is why I'm glad the iSub Apex came with mine... That little bastard takes a beating. If I don't drop my mod at least once a day, I'd think the world was gonna end. :teehee:

Yep, that';s just one reason I love my Achilles RDAs so much -- it's hard to break titanium, no matter how hard you drop it. :D

vaporcube has refurb G2s for $99 and by using code G2REFB your total becomes $54
Extremely durable.
I have one purchased new from ecig and 4 refurbs from vaporcube.
Cannot tell the difference.

Another option would be Eleaf Istick TC100.
Smaller, oval, cheap, durable.
I've beat the hell out of mine and it's still going.

But my first choice for durability would definitely be the G2.

Yeah, I think the Coolfire TC is actually DNA smooth in TC. Although as someone else said the paint on the TC 100 is absolute shit. Loved the board and the simplicity of it. I really can't complain though because I won it in a giveaway. I'll probably give the Coolfire 75 a shot because I love the board and form factor. I just have a few mods I would like to own ahead it. I like keeping a small single 18650 commuter mod in my stable. Durability wise, I have yet to see a better built mod than the G2.

I hate to be a wiener.... but my two best built would be either the hexohm v2.5- I dropped it off a second story catwalk, onto a concrete parking lot. The only thing that happened was the back door opened up; because magnets. I rolled down, put it back on and the mod never missed a beat.- it also has a lifetime warranty and the company backs it up. the mod is almost fda proof since the board is also used in LED lighting applications.
The other would be the 60w provari radius with their version of tc. - the mod is built like a tank. - only thing is I cant recommend that mod for anyone that would burn through more than one 3000 mah battery in a day. the battery change would drive a sane man mad.
I had an istick 100wtc and it rattled more than a maraca. I also had an innokin mvp3, that was a very well built tough mod.
edit: that heatvape can definitely take a beating though. If it were me; and, I needed a mod that could take whatever punishment I could dish out, that is what I would be looking at.

will second the Hexohm. I've seen one go flying out of a jeep at 40mph on a gravel road and it still kept ticking (lost a battery into the weeds tho)

negative. I played with one, when they were released. A good friend of mine owns a shop. before he stocks something, he orders the mod and lets some of us that he knows fiddlefuck and help I'm decide on what to stock .
none of the 7 of us could get the Kanthal pfm thingy to stay on. a few weeks later the busardo review came out and after we all watched that we decided that the mod was smarter than we are.
its built well, its just weird, and those menu terms drive me nuts- they make me think I'm in the movie "repo man"

i have 4 differeent mods
all have been dropped on concrete gravel hardwood you name it so many time ists ridiculous form various hieghts as high as 10 ft
all work like brand new
Yes - they will get scratched up but thats what J wraps are for..

my xohm dimebox actually has no scratches and has been dropped plenty. the finish on it is excellent
my ipv 5 is teh newest mod and has a few scratches
my ipv d2 and my ipv 3li look like crap and have wraps on them now so they look pretty good - but they work like the day I got them 18 months ago.

now my koopor plus that died
could not take a beating to save its life - magnets fell out the plastic around the batteries cracke dup form drops and it basically crapped out after 5 months of use and abuse

i dont own a hexohm, but the are basically a similar design to my xohm so i would imagine they can take the same beating

plenty of great low cost mods out there that can take a beating....probably my most abused mods ar emy ipv mods
the d2 took a bath in the dish water
and after a night in rice it worked perfect
my 3li has been dropped more times then all my other mods put together and works like new and i bought it used

my hexohm v2 went through hell and back before it crapped out...
was dropped numerous times, once left on the hood of my car and i found it later on the street, was thrown in the toilet by my son... still worked.
in the end it was building too low that killed the chip.
my rogue was dropped a few times, once my wife dropped it and the button got jammed, luckily the threading on the button housing was fine and i had to sand down the lip of the housing down to get the button back in and thread on... now it threads on silky smooth but it definitely has its battle marks.

Thinking G2 might have what I want. I do vape in TC usually 60-90 watts. 450-500 depending on juice and build. Thanx for all the info. This was great

@f1r3b1rd , do you think it is worth spending the $180 for the Provari 60w?
Under the mindset that you know what you're getting and happy withand 60w mod.... Yes!
The power delivery is excellent!!! And as a good mtl mod it's perfect.
Small, durable, looks good ...
Just get the satin stainless metal instead of the bronze or black. The stainless resists scratches better than the others.
I would buy it again for the longevity and durability of their products in a heart beat.
I still have a 4 year old v2, 3year old v2 mini, p3, Procyon, radius and they've all been punished ridiculously!

I actually have a Gem and a Gem 2. I prefer the Gem for MTL, the Gem 2 is much too airy for me.
