Dears,

First of all .. many thanks for this great forums because i'm from egypt and the vaping concept is not popular here.
So .. i was having kbox mini starter kit .. and now i got evic vtwo mini
and recently upgraded to firmware v5.04 and got notch coil SS316L
but i have a problem with it .. i can't decide in which mode this coils should be used !
i can't find tc mode called SS316 .. but i use it in TCSS mode .. this is right or no ?
and if i use it on wattage mode .. it's right ? .. and what is the best mode for it TCSS or wattage mode ?
and it's recommended to use preheat option with this type of coils ?

Best Regards Ever,

Hello :).

As you know your notch coils are made from SS 316L, a great thing about this material is you can use it in either power mode, or temperature control mode.

I don't have the Vt two myself, but do have the EVIC VTC mini, and a few other Joyetech devices, and find the SS setting does work with SS 316L.

So, it is really up to you which you prefer to use, either TC mode, or standard wattage mode. You can also use preheat to reduce the time it takes for your coils to heat up, again this is a preference thing according to what you like.

You are perfectly safe using either mode, so enjoy your setup, and well done for making the switch, especially somewhere that vaping is not popular.
All the best, Conan.

i saw many posts shows that they have SS316L mode in their devices ..
and i don't have that in my device ! .. sorry for my freaky questions but i'm really lost with this device :D :D

The Evic line is made by JoyeTech who also produce Wismec and Eleaf/iJoy products, so they have quite a number of different displays... some now show the "316" for the default SS TC mode, but most don't.
But they all are set for 316SS.

Supposedly. :p

Sometimes one of the frequent firmware updates will slightly alter how one or more of the default TC modes are set... this is not a good thing, but we've learned to recognize when it happens and just adjust for it.

Start with the stock SSTC mode (or Power/Wattage mode) for the Notch coils and once you get familiar with how it vapes you'll know if it suits you or if you prefer to use one of the TCR Memory Slots instead... some of us do,

But that's an involved discussion you may not have any interest in yet. ;)

No need to apologise, it is best to ask if you are not sure about anything after all.

@Jim_MDP covered everything in regards to the Joyetech/Wismec/Eleaf devices and their support for SS316.

The TCR mentioned is good if you are finding the TC to be subpar, and can set it manually for your wire type-for now though I would personally stick with the standard SS setting so not to confuse things for you.

thanks for ur reply .. my coils are 0.25ohm and i'm trying to use it in TCSS @ 220c but it's vape on 180 and sometimes 170 automatically and displays "PROTECTION" and i don't know why .. and sometimes on 45WV and trying to get the best of both !
and most times i have a hard couch because of the hot smoke i get !

Have you locked the resistance on the device? You want to do this with a cool atomiser-let it cool for a while if you have been using it, then unscrew the tank, press fire, then put it back on.
Press fire 3 times, then the left button until the resistance icon is flashing, then hit the right button to lock the resistance in place.

If you are vaping in VW mode you do not need to do this, some people love TC while others do not, there is nothing wrong with running the device in VW mode though if you want to do so :).

great now i have solved that and locked the ohm .. but still write "PROTECT" and some time "PROTECT" And Weak Battery ??
i have AWT IMR 18650 3.7V 3000AMH 40A .. is that compatible with this device or why it's wrote weak battery every time i hit the fire button and it's already charged :(

All the "protect' message means is that your set temperature has been reached, and the mod is now regulating power to try and maintain that temperature-it is not an error, it just means your mod is working how it should :).

However, your '40A' battery is definitely not a 40A cell, it is a 20A cell according to here http://vapingunderground.com/threads/awt-battery-40a-3000mah-imr.183170/. (Looks like an LG rewrap).

But you will be pleased to hear a 20A cell is more than enough for your VT two though, is the battery low and in need of charging? As this could display the weak battery message, If however you are encountering this message at full charge, I would get a battery such as a Samsung 25R or 30Q as it could be anything under the wrapper-but hopefully it just needs a charge.

Thanks alot for ur follow and replays .. i got alot of information from u and this is great (Y)
my battery is not fully charged it's maybe 70% .. i'll charge it to the full and try again ..
and i'll search for Samsung 25R or 30Q batteries asap ..
BTW .. if i lost again i'll ask :D :D .. because as i said it's not popular here in egypt anymore !

Many Thanks <3

We are all here to help each other so it is no problem :).
Hmm that is odd to be getting a weak battery message with 70% still remaining, what wattage are you running the mod at?

It may be that you unfortunately do have a bad cell, the good thing is a good battery like a Samsung 25R is cheap to buy.

Any other questions you have feel free to ask, there is no such thing as a silly question, only silly answers.

i'll search for samsung batteries .. and i'm vaping on TCSS 220C !
and set it on 70.0W and coil read after i locked is 0.27

and tries now to vape on wattage mode on 35W and coil read is 0.26 and it's vaping better !

I don't have the VTwo, but do have two VTC Minis, I just updated to the latest firmware (5.04) and for both of the mods, the new firmware doesn't display SS316 in TC anymore, just SS. If you need to adjust it, you'll need to go into TCR mode and change the TCR value. I'm running the default for SS316 and it seems to be working well. One other thing that the new firmware does is give you adjustable per-heat. To get to pre-heat, long press the fire button and the "+" button then press the "+" button twice to enter the pre-heat menu. Press the fire button to toggle between pre-heat wattage and duration. Use the up/down buttons to change the value of each and press the fire button again to confirm. Let the screen time out once set to exit back to normal.
I have a Griffin running SS316 coils at .24 ohms running 45 watts at 480F with a .3 second pre-heat of 65 watts, and it vapes nicely.

Five Clicks to "Off"... then long press (hold) Fire and + to enter the TCR Adjust screen.

and someone tell me please
what is TC M1 , M2 and M3 ?? :|

Those are the three user adjustable "TCR Memory Slots".
For when "factory default" just isn't good enough. :p

We're getting into that conversation I tried to avoid earlier. Are you sure you want to get into this? :)

What is TCR mode?
In any material, the internal resistance will change as the temperature changes. This
extends to resistors as well. The rate of resistance change based on temperature is
referred to as the Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR). It is indicated in units of
ppm/℃ and determined from the resistance change from some reference temperature
and the change in temperature.
How to set the TCR?
With the TCR (Temperature Coefficient of Resistance) function, you can customize your
temperature control coils (Ni, Ti, SS) on your own.
When the device is off, press the fire button and “+” button simultaneously for about 5
seconds to enter into the TCR setting menu:
1.Press “+”button to switch between TCR M1, M2 and M3;
2.Press “-” button once first, then set the value with the “-”/“+” buttons;
3.Long press the fire button or leave it for a few seconds to confirm.
TCR value range for normal temperature control coils:
Material TCR Value Range
Nickel 600-700
NiFe 300-400
Titanium 300-400
SS (303, 304, 316, 317) 80-200
Note: 1. The above TCR value is 105 multiplied of its actual value.
2. Value range is among 1-1000.

Copied from the manual.

now i got it :p .. i'll set M2 on maybe 180 and vape TCM2 on 200C for example
what i got is to set the memory slot for ur coils so i have to set M2 for example from 80 to 200 for my ss316 notch coils and vape on 150 to 300C
is that right ? :|

That upper range of "200" is ridiculous for SS.
The highest TCR SS we normally use is 430 and it's TCR is only 138.

316SS is measured at I believe around the high eighties (there are charts all over the net, I just don't care enough to look it up right now ;) ) but I and many others have run 316 as high as 125 or so. I normally keep my memory slots at 100, 110 and 120 or 125, unless I have some 430 in use, and that's high enough.

200 as a SS TCR is just too much, it alters the TC calculation and probably throws any burnt/dry hit protection out the window. Even 120 for 316SS is sufficiently "out of range" to require changing how one sets power and temp limits.

I really didn't want to get into this until you had done a bit of reading and had vaped enough in TC to have a feel for how it differs from "power mode". :p

Maybe Mark and C will go into it, I'm debating going out for groceries and would rather follow the conversation than have to give it the thought required. :D

I think I have mine set to 120/125. I don't remember as I usually run the default since it delivers a satisfying vape for me.

because i can't handle the TC mode right now .. maybe after more reading and vaping experience i'll do that (Y)

For what it's worth I saw a post in another forum, reddit I'm guessing, that was one of those things you trip over while looking for something else. Anyway it was a cut and paste of an email from Joyetech support saying that their default SS316 TCR was 120 which seemed pretty high to me. However if you switch between SS and say M1, which has 120 entered as default as does M2 and M3, it seems pretty damn close to the SS setting. I tried setting M1 etc starting at 92 and working up to 108 I think - settings that work well with my Smok Treebox - and all seemed pretty anemic on the Vtwo. The base setting for SS on the Vtwo - whatever it may be - seems to work fine for me. Peculiarities of the chip I'd guess, the only thing that really counts is that it vapes well. I gotta say 200 or 180 seems very aggressive.
I just updated to the 5.04 firmware. Certainly different looking.

Yep, I'm not crazy about the new display format, but having the pre-heat function makes up for it for me. I guess I'll get used to it eventually. FWIW, I have found that the default settings for SS work fine for me using SS316L I rarely mess with the TCR.

I use both, depending on the mood, and I'm sure you'll come to do the same.

It's just that... beyond the mathematical details of what TC is doing, and why, a TC vape is very different from using straight wattage, and some descriptions and techniques probably don't make sense until one has had time to play with TC for a bit.

Give it the weekend and you'll be ready for the more subjective details.
Put it this way... using "resistance as a thermometer" is probably the worst way to temp control, but it's what we have so far, so it's what we use. But it's not an exact science. :(

Do you mean the horrific display update that came with the first pre-heat .bin?

It only took JTech three days to hear the complaints and release the second update with the older display layout (fifth? sixth? version for the VTCs  ).
Go git 'er. :p

(or was that just for the original VTC and not the VTwos?)

I find it's a little harder to read - old eyes - but it does give you amps and volts at the same time. I don't use coils with enough mass to really care about preheat these days. I've gone back to a simple open coil with 28g TEMco 316L in just about all my atty's. Works for me.

Yep, that's my biggest gripe, it's hard for my eyes to focus on it, if the font size could be made larger it would help.
I use SS316L almost exclusively, and at least on my Griffin pre-heat helps get the coils up to temp quicker. I used to have to take a short puff or two to get good vapor production if it had sat for a while and cooled down, not so with the pre-heat.

We're already seeing the PH update for the RX, I'd like to see it make it to the 100TC which could make good use of it as well. More so IMO than the 75w mods.

And it would give me a good excuse to use my two again... been a while. :)

I've stopped buying more shit.
A couple dozen mods and what not and this has gotten just plain stupid.

:p
Wife and I both vape, we have 14 mods that we share. Several are put away for backup reserve. I usually have 5-6 going at any one time so I'm not vaping the same thing all day long.

Can't fault those kind of numbers... we really do have an FDA concern and backups are always wise as well.

But what the fuck do I need with 28 mods?

I don't vape as a hobby, or as an affectation, or to chase clouds.
I do it to keep from smoking as I did for 40 years.

A couple weeks ago I finally rolled up one from some TOP sitting around since Summer '15. No biggie, but I figured the old stuff wasn't a fair test so I bought a fresh lil' pouch and tried again... I've had three in that time. Each just as unsatisfying as the previous.
Not enough smoke, flavor is plain and lacking and the taste in my mouth for some minutes after is not an attraction.
But mostly it's the "not enough smoke" ;)

Vaping on the other hand... works. :D
