Serpent Mini question

So I have a serpent mini and a friend of mine gave me a 3mm clapton coil to try in it, but for some reason my hits have a slight burny taste, ever so slight but there.

So the question is: Is the serpent mini to small for a 3mm clapton? To much power to heat it up? I am at 35 watts to make the single coil glow from the center and its on my kbox 200.

3mm is fine. You prolly got a hotspot in the Clapton.

Check what @Stownz said, then check your wicking, too much wick & it can taste burnt, not enough & it will leak.

I have run a 6 wrap 3mm Clapton in my 25mm Serpent Mini without issue. I'd have to take apart my 22mm to check, but if you were able to fit the coil without it touching the posts or sides it should be fine.

I'd rewick so I could check on the issues mentioned by Heartsdelight and Stownz. If your wick is really dark after light use you may have it too jammed in there. I'd then pull the wick and do a dry burn to clean the coil and check from hotspots.

So it looks like the wick was to thick, thinned it out as much as I could without leakage and it seems to have helped it. Thanks for the help

You should have been ok. Have had claptons 5 wrap 3ml good ole cheap Japanese cotton. Hit it at 60 -65 watts no brunt hits but gets hot. You got to wick it just right.

That part is temperamental, I've learned. Taking it just to that little ledge in the juice flow channels seems to be the key, too. If you get leaking after thinning it just the right amount, check for that ledge. If I've confused you, look for that guy Todd's review on YouTube.

I did notice that with the wick, I had to trim it down just right or some of the cotton would get caught under the chamber and not screw down all the way. Thanks for the input for sure! This is now a really great flavor rta and the new 316l clapton in it now runs perfectly

Me and my buddy dont fist fight about this but disagree. I have my way he has his you find a way that suits you stick with it. All the new rebuildables what I have ran into wicking all the same. (Not talking rda dont drip) You have a channel to fill with wick. Make sure wick moves easily through your coils get the rest in the channels or groves. I twist the you know what out of cotton nevet fluff the ends and I allways get alittle juice on the ends of the wick. Makes it easy to mold it in groves and if you have a ring or sleeve that has to go on cotton not in the way. If your cotton too long has juice flow on bottom of beck I just poke it up in there until its out of the way of your glass. But if its short in juice channel or well it will leak. Its allways too much cotton or not enough or juice too thick or too thin. I stopped watching reviews on how to build just started doing it my way. I do watch reviews to see if product is just total junk but not to build. Not a expert world class builder but not just throwing something together I just do it my way. Still follow all the safety rules I vape .2 to .3 ohms.
