Hi people. I want to say first that I found this site a few weeks ago and have been reading about flavors. I am so frustrated with fruits, (except for apple). I have a few good mangos but they don't have much flavor, same with strawberry. So today after reading some tips, I put 5 mils of water in a cup and one drop of concentrate. I was eating a mango while doing this ( I live in the Philippines) I have Philippines mango, sweet mango, a few others but what stuck out the most is it's lacking the sweetness. I noticed that even more with strawberry, I have strawberry ripe, sweet strawberry, FA strawberry, Lorannes. Inw, shisha strawberry. I finally found what is lacking for me with these fruits is the sweetness. I tried a little marshmallow, sweet cream, brown sugar, tfa. they all helped some. I've never used sweeteners but have some, I put in some caps double sweet, it was too sweet but I see that is more of what I"m looking for. some reg. strength sucralose, that's about right. I wonder now if the translation from drinking to vaping will be there. I went ahead and did this tasting process with all my flavors, 5mls water and one drop of flavor. It really made me much better acquainted with base flavors, cookies, grams, biscuits. creams too. My question is do you think the switch from drinking it to vaping it will hold up?

you can. I've done it to test out flavors with not much info on them. Just make sure you don't put nicotine in and drink it lol.
It's a good way to get an idea of the flavor and strength

I put in some caps double sweet, it was too sweet but I see that is more of what I"m looking for.

Many add sweetener or stevia extract to help out.
Quite strong tho, so I'd start with 1 drop in 10ml.
Or 1-2 drops in 15ml.
Once it's past too sweet it's impossible to get rid of it.

thanks for the input, heabob. For some reason fruits are just not doing it for me. I worked on it for hours today and after eating a mango I realized my juice lacked sweetness. Especially strawberry. Tomorrow I'll start trying it with a little sweetener. I have some good mixes that don't have fruits but i think that would put a good top note on things. There is a dessert here in the philippines called a Mango float. It's delicious, fresh mangos soaked in evaporated milk and graham crackers. I've got it nailed down except for the mango. I did finally make an apple pie that I love, so I am a happy vapor just gotta figure out the fruits, I want them to really stand on top, the fruits I make now are more of a background note, no matter what I try.

Sounds yummy, real hard to beat fresh Mangos tho.
If you need something more potent...
INW Mango is pretty strong for me at 2%, and some mix it in with other the brands.

It's a much better idea to taste your flavourings dissolved in a bit of VG than water. Ingesting it will never taste the same as inhaling it at 200+ Celsius but it is a good enough indication.

I remember reading an article a while back from a flavour scientist where he mentions how try out their new flavours that they are researching.
The easiest and fasted way was to combine it in some kind of oil and test it. The best one and most time consuming was of course using it in the designated product. If for example you're making a marzipan flavour for baking, bake a batch of cake and use it in there.

Especially strawberry.

Try:
2% INW Shisha Strawberry (the strongest of the bunch)
1% INW Biscuit
Add 1-2 drops of sweetener if needed.
(Kinda rare to have to use more than this, but there are a couple people that have to use high amounts of SB).

If using high VG you may have more trouble tasting stuff.
Some don't have any issues, but some actually do.
Can always add a bit more PG to test the theory out.

FYI: Some here were mixing flavorings in with some cool whip for taste testing, probably works best with fruits tho.
Lighter flavors like Cream & Vanilla would probably just disappear.

thanks for the input. I also did make 5ml. batches and vaped it. It got tedious so I tried the drink test. It does give an idea of how it will work and made me more familiar with each flavor or is it scent? Thanks hebob, I will try out that recipe tonight, do you think a steep would make a difference? I hope I can make strawberry ripe work because I have a few 100mls of that just sitting around.

Not really, I just leave them for 24hrs, although high VG mixes might need longer.

I hope I can make strawberry ripe work because I have a few 100mls of that just sitting around.

You could also try using 5% SB Ripe + 3% Sweet SB, but these guys need a week IMO.
Make adjustments as needed.

Small amount of Marshmallow can be added to the base.
And even some Vanilla & Cream.

Thanks Heabob. I will try that tomorrow. I ordered some new flavors and threw in sour tfa(malic acid), and keylime to see if that might brighten the mix up. Some watermelon too.

Some who have trouble with tasting Strawberry add 0.5% FA Raspberry or INW.

.5% FA Black Current also will make strawberry flavor pop out

Like that idea better mainly cause I like the FA Black Currant way more than the Raspberry flavors.
Might even make a neat combo to try besides.
Although I don't have any trouble with tasting Strawberry.
