So, what does everyone do with their extra wire?

Got into building a couple months ago and have been enjoying the hell out of it, my only question now is what do people usually do with their extra wire? I bought 26g and 28g but have 250' spools of each. Does anyone have an estimate on how long it would take to use that up if I built a new coil set up each week?

I'm gonna take a stab at FOREVER. I have wire still from 3 years ago, but I don't do all those fancy builds like most of you guys do. For the way building has progressed, I think mine only qualify as minor heating elements.

here is a hint, back in Jan. I got a 30' spool as part of a package deal, I do a simple dual coil 6.5 wrap on 2mm, rebuild each week, and still have not used up that spool..;)

Interesting question. Depends on what you are doing. Having just gotten into it, those spools will last you quite a while. Once you progress to more complex builds, if that's where you want to go, you will see your supplies dwindle quite quickly.

I worked it out the other day now that I'm selling sets of my Framed Staple builds at the local B&M and wanted to know how much each was costing me in wire and to start to plan when I will need to order more. They are made out of 8 strips of 0.4mm x 0.1mm ribbon for the core, framed with 28 AWG, and wrapped in 36 AWG. All are Kanthal, and all come from Lightning Vapes. One set of those coils consists of 2 4.5 inch lengths. Works out to 6 ft of ribbon for the core, 1.5 ft of 28 for the frames, and 20 ft of 36 for the outer wrap.

i have thousands of feet of kanthal, n80 and ss only wire that moves fast are the thinner ones used for outer wraps on claptons. thr thicker wire moves slow...

I'm using the thinner gauges for cores, claptons, twisted coils and fused claptons playing around with the Kanthal using mostly N80 and SS now, get my practice on the old Kanthal and trying new things, won't waste the good stuff

Since all of you are doing all this building, someone should make me up about 40 kick ass Clapton builds in a variety and ship them to me at a really low budget price.
You know, because I need to save my time and money for hardware.
haha
I currently have NO interest in making my own.
Then again, I recall saying I didn't want to make my own juice.
However I had good reason for that, I know me and I don't just dabble in things.
I go full tilt or nothing at all.
Lets see how well THIS one works out for me. lol
