Tired of poor quality pre-made attomizers - want an RTA

I can't believe no one mentioned the petri rta. It is almost leak proof. Has great flavor. I love the boreas but had a time trying to get it not to leak. Turning upside down to tighten top, opening the air and juice flow then inverting it and take a quick hit. That and you need a big build in there. The petri is SO simple. It's more expensive though. The boreas is a beast with flavor and big hits. Kinda made me nic sick a couple times.

He could buy a boreas a supreme and an engine for the price of a petri lol that's probably why. I looked at it but for 75 bucks wasn't a fan of the capacity and juice channels. Really nice looking tank though

Though I mainly use my Azeroth, I still like the Mage for an RTA.

I can't get any flavor out of the Mage at low wattage like I can out of my RDTAs which are fine at 0.4 ohms and under 40 watts.

What? Seriously? I use small gauge Clapton coils in my Mage and it has the most flavor of any RTA I have, at least equal to my Aromamizer Supreme Lite and Avocado 24. I almost always have to run it at under 4volts too. My RDTAs I have to run at 4.5v like an RDA. I'd have to say this is likely build dependent?

It's a clone though which is fine just don't understand why the juice channels are so far from where the coils look like they go. But hey for 20 bucks maybe I'll try one out

Still haven't met a clapton I liked. What ohms and wattage?

Leaning towards the Boreas, but I think as others have suggested, I'll try building on the TFV8 first. I made some coils with twisted kanthal for my dripper and they worked very well, so I may try them in the 8.
Go for it. Then you can get a rough idea of the process

The OP is obviously new to RTAS
AND
I highly suggest
Griffin 22,25mm
Super tank 22,25mm
Billow v3 22,25mm plus
these RTAS are very straight forward
LEAK FREE
and you will found out that, you don't have to vape @100 watts to get the flavor your looking for....

THE BOREAS is a great tank,flavor/chucker but you have to know what ur doing though... good luck

Sooooo... I built the TFV8 - Thanks to those that suggested it. It's is FREEKIN awesome
2 strand twisted kanthal - 6 wraps on a 3mm die came in @ .28ohm

The first time I wicked it with too much cotton and it didn't wick real well, so I redid the wicking and tapered the ends of the wick.

No Leaks, No Dry Hits so far... and @ 80 watts it chucks a cloud as good as the octo coils, and it's nice and warm, not hot, and the best part is it tastes phenomenal!!!

Y'all saved me some $$$ and got me the Vape I been searchin for!

I got pics, but Photobucket is down for maintenance. I'll post the pics later.

Thanks again y'all!!!

glad to hear it!
with wicking i always fluff my ends with pointy tweezers to thin them out and make them fluffier. they tend to wick better that way. also cutting them on a 45 degree angle

Aye! I did both the second time. First time I fluffed but left them blunt, I was worried I needed to stuff the juice holes to keep it from leaking.
Turns out I didn't need them that stuffed, trimmed the next set on a 45 and I'm just about through a tank I like it so much.

Somewhere on youtube I saw someone recommend priming the wicks with juice before tucking the ends to keep the capillaries in the cotton from collapsing. I've been doing that on my drip tanks for a while and it seems to make for more wicking action, so I do that now as well.

The flavor just keeps improving too!

Again, thanks - this is exactly what I was hoping to get.

Can't say a Griffin is a good one to get your feet wet as the wicking is too finicky

Okay Kids, got a dilemma... I have 2 TFV8's - first one I wicked and filled with a 70/30 juice, and as I said before works great.

Same build in #2 with a max VG (94%) juice and it can't wick fast enough for long pulls, if I hit it like I do #1 I get a dry hit at the end.

So... is there some way I can build this to wick, or is the juice just too thick for an RTA ?

Probably too thick but you could try to use less cotton on the leads

Thank You Sir! Do you think the coil diameter can affect how it wicks ? and what about coil surface area, maybe less fewer wraps ?

One of my dilemmas with this juice is it takes lot's of heat to make it taste really good. Lower resistance and higher watts seem to be necessary, unless I'm missing something ?

bigger ID of the coil holds more cotton and hence more juice. More surface area means more flavor and more vapor in general as long as you can power it.

Thanks, I think I'll wind some 3.5mm coils, may have to go with a lighter gauge wire. Need at least 75w to get good flavor from this juice.

What the heck is it, why is it better than anything else, and why can't Sir Richard find one ????

P.S. - will it wick 94% VG ????
I vape 100vg.... This tank loves high PG

I have been using the SMOK Minos 25 as an all day runabout and backup to my Boreas. Not a leak to be found. I also always have a Tornado Nano loaded up (using the RTA deck, not premade coils) Flavor on the Minos and Tornado Nano are great. I have the OBS Engine also, no leaks, but with top airflow I feel a little loss of flavor. Could be my build, but I can put the same build in the Tornado N or the Minos and get better flavor.

Probably not bottom airflow is best flavor IMO. top airflow doesn't match it

Terrible things.... Lol.... Nothing like a Modfather....

He makes batches of 5000 when they are sold he goes to the next run.... Run #3 is sold and he is waiting on his parts for batch #4

5,000 RTA's for world production is not many.... But that's all he can handle.....

He receives 5,000 tops, 5,000 tanks and chimneys 5,000 decks and bottoms..... He completes each individual and when they pass Quality Control he puts them in Modfather boxes.....

Then he delivers to vape shops around his area, ships to Canada, Europe and US customers.... He does this until sold out and continues with the next batch......

He has (3) or (4) family members and friends helping him.....

That's why they are perfect in every way... From engraving to threads and materials......

If you have the opportunity to buy one and let it go it can be months before they pop up again....
