Hello, all. Just started vaping. Before getting deeper into the intro, and sorry this is going to get lengthy, I'm going to go ahead and get the acrimony of the user-base out of the way:

I am not an ex-smoker, per se even though I practically grew up in a cloud of second-hand smoke (my mom, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and most cousins all smoked, but I never touched it). A few weeks ago I tried and sort of liked them, but smoking in my home and car is not practical with asthmatic kids and my wife makes me take cleanroom-grade showers before I'm allowed to come to bed. At the most, two packs of Marlboro's. Not even enough to induce cravings.

Every other forum I've tried to join basically blackballed my presence under "If you don't smoke, don't vape. You don't belong here. Blah blah blah." If they had their way, I'd just smoke analogs, get hooked in for a decade or two, then come back with their prerequisite stamp of approval. Absurd logic to say the least. But, the train has left the station. I have made my informed decision and I'm choosing to vape.

Unfortunately, I'm surrounded by pure "I'm never going to quit" smokers and after having to hear their tirade of "you shouldn't vape, but I'm going to light up", their limited knowledge of vaping led me to convenience-store cig-a-likes like Vue and Blu. Well, that didn't last long.

So, after many nights of research (and totally avoiding forums for the above reason, sticking to blog sites), I pulled the trigger on a Halo Triton II starter kit. The 30ml bottle Halo provided has 3mg nic 100% PG and I'm only vaping for an hour or so when I get off of work (I'm an I.T. guy, so...yeah). Enough for me to knock the edge off.

I've since ordered some 50-50 (Vapewild), since that PG throat hit is a beast and 50-50's are a lot smoother.

When it comes to modding, DIY, etc, it's pure information overload. However, from what I've read here, this endeavor looks very promising and satisfying.

Salut!

When ya put it that way! Nah, we are more welcoming, but when those that never smoked start having issues they never experienced, we do talk through it a bit with 'em. We're grown ups, for the most part, everyone gets to decide for themselves.

You're definitely welcome here

Welcome! I hate it when folks judge you for a decision you, as an adult, make. Ask all the questions you want and ignore any body who condemns you for vaping without having first being a tobacco user. (If you can't tell I'm a bit of a rebel... grew up hearing tooo much of what I can't/not allowed to do. :D:D)

I was a smoker for 13 yrs and never got addicted... I just liked the calming affect it had on my nerves. My fiance on the other hand was severely addicted and at 25 was having tremendous blood pressure and breathing problems. I nipped it in the butt and said we are going to start vaping. Got our first kits March 8th, 2013 and haven't had a smoke since our first vape.

I used to get some flack for not being addicted but said, I am an adult and can make my own decisions, take it or leave it.:devil:

I'll be 27 next month and a few months after that will be four years smoke free... We are both so much healthier now. And back in the day If there were such things as ecigs I would have just been on those instead of the stinks. :bliss:
