Not sure about the dragon fruit, INW is typically pretty well concentrated, but I do wonder if the other 2 are just a bit low. FW isn't known for their strength.

Not sure that will solve the matter, but it's just my first thought.

If this was the first time you mixed it up, the other day, I think it'd be weird that you'd have vaper's tongue so fast. But, if it just started the other day, after vaping it frequently, that makes more sense.

I'm kind of stumped, LOL.

it happens with all my diy mixes which is strange even just a single mix just one day and then i can barely taste it , wont be vapours tougne as im vaping a premium juice now and its fine , i drink plenty of water etc , ive tried different ratios too 60/40 and 50/50 and still get same result. im running a baby beast, maybe its getting clagged up had the same q2 coil in for just over a week with 2700 puffs , so it could be the coil?

I know nothing about that tank, or those coils. Have you tried the VG by itself and the PG, too?

Hi there.

I actually prefer my juice fresh without a steep for the majority of recipes I make, most people like a steep but I really do enjoy fresh juice!

However, one day is not really long enough to effect the juice by any means. When I get vapers tongue, I can't taste any flavours, and have to vape menthol for a few days. After doing so, I can taste all my flavours again!

(EDIT: Sorry, I read the rest of the thread and you CAN taste other flavours. This is odd that it happens with all of your mixes, I really am stumped with this and hopefully someone else can help with this.)

I do seem to be in the minority though liking fresh juice, and most people do prefer their juice steeped for a while. Due to the sudden loss of flavour though I do suspect it could be vapers tongue, so I would see if you can taste other juices first, and if you can't try some menthol for a few days.

Premium Juices tend to use more flavoring and possibly some sweeteners.
Switching to DIY juice will usually taste weaker IMO.
I'd try upping the amounts of flavorings you're using a bit.

Old coils can also make juice taste weak, or even nasty sometimes.

what i found out that might be the case is vaping straight after mixing it , another fella i was talking to said he gets vapours tounge if he vapes straight after mixing instead of waiting a hour or so for it to settle .

also what supports that theory is the one juice i let rest for a hour or so was the only one ive been able to vape all day and i made a new one and vaped it straight after it was mixed and then said yep tastes good and went to vape the first one and couldnt taste it , cos a fresh mix like seconds after making it apparently can burn off your taste buds for a few days

I've never experienced that. I've mixed, shaken, then poured directly into a tank plenty of times, on mixes I know don't require some aging. I suppose that's just another way we're all different with our taste buds. Sounds like you're finally getting it more narrowed down!! :)

And usually the higher the amounts of flavoring being used will cause coil problems sooner.
(Like you've mentioned elsewhere I've noticed the Custards, and some others, have caused more than average gunking myself).

I've been in the habit of leaving everything I mix sit for 24hrs minimum.
And I make up several different recipes at once to last for the week ahead, and because I tend to get bored vaping the same thing all the time anyway.
(Sometimes making up a couple that need to steep longer)
I think switching things up a bit also helps reset the taste buds somewhat.
I've also had many that taste stronger at first, but then mellow out some after a bit.
Everything seems to taste better in the morning, probably cause our taste buds have had some time to recover.

How long has it been since you've vaped any vendor juice?

It's been over 2 years for me, and when first starting DIY I was also using quite a bit more flavoring amounts than today.

Many have commented about vendor juice tasting nasty, but, have been making and using their own juice for quite some time.

Notice how many people add more salt to food that has had a ton already added because they can't taste it.

Having been a diabetic for quite some time now, when I try certain things with all that sugar it's like "overload city", Yuk.

I highly doubt a fresh mix could burn off your taste buds, and would not worry about using a fresh mix-although even me liking fresh juice I do give it a very good and thorough mix before using.

I have had vapers tongue in the past, but only when I vaped heavily and some menthol sorted it out (Which was also fresh).

It is very strange though your juice tastes good immediately after mixing, but within a day it does not taste so good. That is a very short amount of time for anything to happen, so I really am stumped what is going on there to be honest.

I am glad as @Huckleberried said though you are getting it more narrowed down, and I hope soon you have it figured out what is causing the problem.

You mention you get on fine with premium juices- you are really making your own premium juice, so it is very strange what is going on. They do have sweeteners and other things added, but you can add these yourself, I like capella supersweet, really does make some flavours better.

I notice your coil has had quite a bit of use though, do you have a new coil to try? This may well help, I find flavours to be much better when I rewick if I have used multiple flavours.

I hope you get the issue figured out soon and can enjoy your own DIY juice :).

I've won bottles of juice that were "ok", but ended up PIFing those, even still have a few. I DID buy 2 from Scope Juice that I kept hearing about over and over, so I got those to try - only juice I've purchased in about 3 years, since DIY. Those I did really like, but they were VERY strong to me. Good, no doubt, very good, just strong. Cutting those with unflavored would make them AWESOME, but that's to my taste buds, I typically mix on the lower end of percentages with flavoring, too. It's probably been a few months since I vaped those.

I totally get what you mean with over-salting, and overly sweet. I stopped using salt on foods when my taste buds started healing up, since quitting cigarettes. Most foods simply don't need it, anymore. It's just shocking, still, how sweet, or salty some foods are to me.

That is very odd, as from mixing fresh, to say 10 minutes later, there isn't really any change, apart from possibly everything being a bit more mixed.
If this indeed can happen, maybe it is where people have not correctly mixed a fresh batch, and are possibly vaping part of the juice that is mostly nicotine or just flavouring?

I am glad you are starting to get some flavour back though now :), hopefully soon you have some great tasting juice.

I haven't actually tried that flavour myself, but see it is similar to menthol but has no flavour? It just produces the cold feeling?

If so, I have found in the past with menthol for a 10 ml bottle, I literally could measure by the drop- 3-4 drops and it was very strong, enough for when I had an infection to still be able to vape, and clear my airways.

A bit of a random question, but do you enjoy very strong flavoured foods in general? Like for example, blue cheeses? It may be you just naturally need strong flavours, the opposite to a supertaster who can detect tiny changes in recipes?
If so, it could just be a case of you needing to make your juice stronger than others.

I am only trying to guess here though in the hope it may help you out, and hope you can get to the bottom of it soon.

It's OK, I would love to hear you get to the bottom of this as it is so strange!

I haven't tried sucker punch myself, but again you had the same problem of it tasting OK, then the very next day nothing?

How are you with store bought juice? I think I remember you saying you was OK but I might be wrong and can't seem to see it in the thread- I probably am missing it though.
If you are indeed OK with store bought juice, then the only thing I can think of that makes sense in my head is that with very fresh juice, the perfumey- scents are still very strong, so you can taste it. After a little while, as this starts to settle, you may not be able to taste much.

If this is the case, then it may well be that after a full steep you find the juice to taste good again. I hope it is something this simple, as I am in the minority in enjoying my juices made freshly, most people do prefer a good steep.

That is very strange. I was thinking maybe the INW Dragonfruit may be too high because Inawera's flavors tend to be super strong to me but if it's happening with all your mixes, then it may be something else. Typically when something tastes great right away and the flavor diminishes once it steeps, it's usually over-flavoring.
And whoever is using 5% Koolada is a crazy person... Way too much.

Ok, if it is the same with premium juice, something is strange and we know it isn't your mixing that is at fault.

This may not seem good, but at least it rules one thing out of the question.

Was there EVER a point you could actually taste juice? If there was, when was it, and has your vaping style changed since then- like have you switched from higher Nic, to sub ohming lower nic juice, but compensating by vaping a lot more?
As if it is vapers tongue, you may still be suffering from it. Some people find it takes quite a while to get rid of, and if you are vaping a lot throughout the day it won't help things unfortunately.

I am again only guessing, but if you are vaping constantly throughout the day, I suggest something that may seem a little odd.

I want you to make up some VG, PG, and your level of Nicotine. (Only if you want to- I'm not telling you what to do lol).
DON'T add any flavouring. Vape this for a day or 2- you can't taste juice anyway at the moment, so it won't be too bad I promise.
After at least a day, make up some menthol juice. Some strong menthol- like I find blow your head of strength to work when I have had it in the past. Vape this, again for a day if you can.

The next day, try some flavoured juice- and if things have worked, hopefully you will have your taste back. I have found this to work for me in the past.

G'day I read a lot of posts and really never comment so this is my first post to VU. I hate the term vapers tounge, its thrown around as an answer to any problem with taste or flavour. maloo says he vapes for a day and its great and next day he can't taste it, so chances are its not his tounge. I have had the problem many times and I would put money on the coil. It can be a few things, a hot leg or hot spot on the coil and it could be when wicking the coils could move and created a problem and as was said a dirty coil. It really shits me when people with no idea and give bad advice, vapers tounge bullshit. How many here have really had vapers tounge let's talk about that.

I'd venture to guess that most of the people around here have experienced "vaper's tongue" at least one time. I have.

yup I get vapers tongue all the time lol if I vape the same thing for to long it seems to start tasting dull, give it a break for a couple days and come back and get all that good lovin back :) my guess is its not going as planned, meaning having one expectation and getting a different result I want this vendor juice so I google a clone recipe and get hit with the reality most clones dont come close to whatever original. Ill give an example of flavor fading overnight also, the liquid barn flavors Ive been trying, were pretty decent yesterday and today its like vaping rubbing alcohol. next week when all that burns off bet it taste a little better again.(Im not saying thats a good quality just an example lol ) Id suggest finding a popular original recipe here on VU rather than trying clone recipes

also I dont know how many times Ive made something that I thought was totally amazing, all the flavors are firing like planned and you go to bed wake up and try it again and realize when its mixed well it taste like crap or flavors are missing that were there yesterday. you just have to adjust and keep moving and not really dwell on it and beat the horse to death mixing the same thing over and over wondering why it still taste terrible best thing to do is just do something else and someday you will come across the right flavors. I see to many people get discouraged trying recipes sometimes you just have to learn from them and start making things that taste good to you and forget about all the flash around vaping normally you can make something better than whatever you are trying to clone anyways

so I guess basically what Im saying is none of it sounds un reasonable to me. any hardcore mixer would probably say the same. not every mix is a home run even if the whole world presses like on a forum. it takes failure after failure after failure and vaping gallons of juice.that taste terrible
