Griffin rta aggravating me badly

So I am using a Griffin with 24/34 kanthal clapton at 5 wraps. No matter what I try to do, any build I throw onto this rta seems to get a hot spot on the coil within a day of the initial build. This hot spot almost burns my horrible juice, which makes me crabby because I can't get a good hit.

The builds usually sit at 0.17, I normally run at 45 watts but I'm sitting at 29 because I can still vape small hits before the hot spot burns me.

The juice is max vg, the wick medium is cotton bacon v2 thank God (it is very durable against hot spots).

In,not sure what I am doing wrong but I really wish I could just get a good vape off this dang thing.

With all do respect I do know how to build coils. I cover the deck and pulse the coils in the dark because it's become that big of a problem. My wicking isn't tight enough to pull the coils or even the wraps, and there's 4 wicking points, so in theory it should be getting enough juice.

And just for clarity, I'm not bothered by the suggestion of my coils at all, I just didn't wanna sound like a chode on this, the day of giving thanks.

I can get a good build everywhere else, why not the Griffin? Maybe someone knows a trick to the tank that I don't, yet. Maybe it's just bad luck. If I knew what the issue was, I wouldn't be posting.

Could you post a pic of your Griffin build? Might help us help you figure out what's wrong..

Ok so I think I have narrowed it down to this spool of wire I am using. I believe what's happening is what I saw today with a different wire. While heating before i lightly squeeze the coil together, I am noticing a hot spots manifesting in the form of a line across the coil perpendicular to the direction of the wire. For some reason the current finds these small lines as the path of least resistance hence they heat way faster than the rest of the coil.

I am able to eliminate the hot spots then I wick and vape, but after sitting in my cup holder half the day in my pickup or my big truck, I end up getting hot spots again. I wish I knew how to get rid of them... the only way I can think is to stop using the clapton that I got from lv. Not sure what else to do.

Have you tried any other wire than Claptons?

Wow it just dawned on me that whatever my problem was could've been from the N80/K combo... more than likely it's a bad section of wire.

I have some nichrome, it's 24ga I think... I always had trouble getting it to fire right but I may try again idk.

9 wraps of 24g Nichrome on a 3mm bit came out to 0.28 ohms for dual coils..
They vape great around 55-60w
Fast ramp up and when dry firing the first time I pulse the power to get them hot and squeeze the wraps together with small pair of needle nose pliers..goal was to get them heating evenly, and turning red from the center out...Once that's done I wick with cotton bacon or organic cotton..both seem to wick good..
