Hi All New here but not new to vaping coming in from kbox top tank mini

My sweet spot is a single coil and after some research i've decided on this tank. I like a lot of things about it and im hoping it lives up to it.

1) i traditionally like the .5 ohm coils that i built in my RBA for the kbox.
what are some good coils to pair with this? i checked out some coil arts ss. any suggestions ?

2) looking for a nice mod box. Preferably a dual batter to pair with this...incase i upgrade the tank later on to something better. good TC tank pls.

Thanks

Well, good and bad stuff. It's tough to beat the flavor on a Merlin, but the QC has been really hit and miss on that tank. A lot of people, a LOT of people have experienced leaking and seeping issues with it. I've had 2, both were a mess. Really, made me sad, too, because the flavor and ease of build was TOP notch stuff.

The rest, I'll leave to the pros. I just build little wimpy single coils. Nothing fancy.

thanks Huckleberried. I saw the giant thread after i pulled the trigger on the tank. Im really hoping that the one i get will not leak.
Im really looking for a nice single battery or dual battery mod. i was looking at the aspire nx75 or aspire archon.

I don't know anything about those. The ones I'm using are something like last years hot stuff, lol. I'm a huge fan of the eVic VTC Mini and the Eleaf Pico. Both are single battery, very reliable, too.

It all depends on your preference, your likes and dislikes. Like Huck said, both the eVic mini and Pico are very nice, durable single battery mods. I have both, use them on and off. Another nice single battery is the Wismec Presa 75 w...but it is kinda finicky some tanks will work fine on it, others will be fine and go sideways on you at the worst possible time (like when you're stuck in traffic). There is a new crop of dual battery mods coming out but I'm set on the Hohm Tech Hohm Wrecker G2. It is without a doubt the fugly duckling 2 battery mod of the bunch but it is the most solidly built, rugged, reliable mod I found, I use it daily, drop it it almost regularly (not intentionally) and it still works. The G2 has a following here and for good reason. It's little brother/sister is the Slice, a single 26650 battery mod. The bottom line is that you need to do some looking around since if you ask 10 people their mod preference, you'll get 15 answers recommending 20 different mods.

I've got an ipv d3. This is a good single battery mod in my opinion. I think the only downfalls I've come across is that it doesn't do TC on any type of wire you'd want to build with. It also is pretty inefficient and once the battery is showing 50% or less, it needs to be changed. There in an obvious reduction in power at that point and you can tell with each puff. The mod does go to 80w, which is a plus. All that being said, an ipv5 is a dual 18650 that may be a great one for you. It may be my next mod....

Just to complicate things for you, but in a good way, take a look at the flask mods. They are great mods, extremely comfortable. I have both the Vapor Shark DNA 133 and the VF Classic, the Vapor Shark is the best by a country mile...if you like the DNA chip. I must say I'm not crazy about it but I love the mod itself so I put up with the chip. The VF Classic has the Wismec Chip so it is not something to write home about, but it is about 1/3 the price of the Vapor Shark at today's prices.

I'm running my Merlin on the Cuboid right now. Sweet setup. Vapes very nicely, and looks good (mine is stainless). The Archon is also a good mod... the difference between the Cuboid and the Archon really comes down to aesthetics and weight. If you want solid, go with the Cuboid. If you prefer lighter, the Archon. I've currently got my Archon setup with the Aspire Quad Flex in RDTA mode...

Other dual batt mods I find decent include most any modern Smok mod (Gpriv, Hpriv, R200, Treebox Plus, XCUBE Ultra), the iPV5 (nothing after that), the Sig Fuchai 213 (if you're not considering TC... it works in TC, but is not easy to get there), the Hohm Wrecker G2 (reminiscent of the monolith from 2001), the iStick 100 TC, and the Kanger KBOX 160.

I have had bad luck with Vaporesso, so I will not recommend the Tarot or Tarot Pro.

The SMOK Alien is really nice. Small, 2 batteries(18650), about 10 colors to choose from now, has good TC, and fits tanks up to 25mm with no overhang.

My wife uses her Kanger Subtank Mini w/0.5ohm coils @29watts, and can go 3 days on charge w/LG HG2 batteries. That's almost 30ml of juice for her.

Good luck deciding :D

Shawn - what type of coil setup do you have on your Merlin for best flavor?

I typically like to keep things simple and run 24-28 AWG SS316L. Here the last few days, I've been running SS316L fused claptons in a test again an identically built Ammit. The primary difference is the ramp up... I'm going back to round wire soon... I wick with Puffs Japanese Organic Cotton, Walgreen's Organic Cotton, Cotton Bacon V2, Native Wicks Platinum, or Rayon depending on my mood (read "whatever is closest to the lazy git.")

Not that it matters but I have a couple of Kbox 200's that have been stellar....two 18650, durable, predictable, and reliable.

I absolutely LOVE my Tesla Invader III/Merlin combo

The Invader is not a traditional regulated mod, but there is mosfet and variable wattage adjustment. It is a substantial mod in the hand.

May I suggest the R150 box mod? I always use this one when in doubt (of leaking) coz it's water proof and for 150 watts, that's more than enough wattage for almost anything.

FWIW:

I love my Merlin. Great flavor, easy to build on, I can deal with minor seepage. That out of the way, I have mine on top of an istick 100w TC, with a stainless steel Clapton at right about .65 ohms. Absolutely zero complaints here :D

hohmslice (Standard edition) is on sale for 30 bucks. single 26650 mod (so about 50% more battery life then a single 18650 mod) 101 watts max power and temp control everything if you ever wanted to try that. Great mod i use it alot. it's the only single battery mod i have and actually use. You'll see it in a lot of my reviews
