Advice on simple 1.4- 1.8 ohm duel coil build

I usherly build sub ohm coils for all my vaping but recently wanted to see if I could get better flavour out of some of my juices.
I have 24, 26, 28 and 30g kanthal to build with at the moment.
Can any body suggest a simple duel coil build for a dripper

You need a coil Calc app like Vape tool or steam engine... for that ohm range I'm thinking the 30 will be the only option..... u less this is fir a series mech or high voltage then you could make the thicker wires work

8 wraps of 30 on 2.5 each coil will get you 1.1ohms. 10 wraps 1.7ohm

Thanks for the reply. I have a coil calculator and was wondering if I needed to do any thing dif. I wud usherly use a 3ml coil. Any reason for the 2.5?

Because if I was using ohm and wire I would use a 2mm to 2.5mm id.. because at the coil temp the build would run for me 2.5 will probably give best flavor. 2mm might be too small and burn off juice too fast. 3mm too big and might be a wet spitty vape.

I don't know how you intend to use the build.. that will dictate build... I will give very different advise maybe if I also knew wattages you want to run and whether this is for MTL or DL draw. You only gave ohm target and wire.....

Diameter of the wrap also dictates the final outcome of your ohms..A larger diameter uses more wire in general given the same number of wraps.

Size of the build deck and how much cotton you can use also determines how big or how small the build should be..Nice to have a big coil with a bunch of cotton but if its too much cotton to put down into your juice channel its not going to wick properly..So always build accordingly.

The diameter of the coil does not dictate ohm.. length if wire determines that based on the diameter of the wire. The size of a wrap has no bearing.

more wire length when wrapping around a larger diameter;)

6 wraps around a 2mm diameter is less wire than 6 wraps around a 3mm diameter therefore a difference in ohms.

I'm going to be using the build on the steam crave aromamizer for DL draw and as for wattage I was going to start maybe at 10w.

Like I said before I'v only built for sub ohm tanks and same on drippers so it's going to be a bit of experimenting with the watts and what suits me best. The higher ohm is completely new to me. Thanks for the help and advice .

I understand this and also more wire surface heating liquid through the cotton will give more vapour. If I can get better flavour then i'm willing to compromise some of the size of clouds to a certain degree.
Are the 28 and 30g wire much more delicate then the 24 and 26 when building? I can b quiet heavy handed lol

Depending on the amount of room you have to build on, the thicker guage wire is better in terms of flavor and vapor production, like you said more surface area...For the tank youre using I would go with a simple 24g with maybe 7 to 8 wraps on a 3mm diameter and work from there...If you want less ohms use less wraps..more ohms then more wraps but your coil width including the legs should not extend past the width of the post holes you are putting them into..The amount of cotton used is also a big part in the build..Too much and you don't get good flavor and it may not wick properly..Too little and it can flood and give off a dry hit after so many seconds of taking a vape...Its a learning curve you just have to find for yourself..We can only give a direction but ultimately its for you to find on the tank you are using...Most every tank is different finding that sweet spot.

28 and 30 are easy to work with but unfortunately you will have to be somewhat creative with the legs to get the coil placement right and legs in the holes.

Also a dual 10 wrap 28 on a 1/8 drill bit is over 1 ohm

A bigger diameter give you a longer coil....does it not?

8 wraps with 24g would take me to about .7 ohms though n I wanted to go higher then that really as a lot of the juices I vape are very sweet and burn easilly at the higher watts n I was hopping with the higher ohms and lower watts that I cud prevent that from happening and possibly get more flavour out of them.
The deck isn't huge but I curently have duel 6 wrap Clapton coils 3m in it at .4ohm I could probably get another 3 or 4 wraps in there comftably with out going past the posts.
I understand it's going to take some fiddling about to get it right for me but I was just asking I sapose so I cud understand if there was much difrance to building with the sub ohm tanks. I'm going to see wat I can come up with once the lil one is in bed

Thats where I would start with the build I listed, Except I might go to 2.75mm id, http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html?a=true&s=dp&r=1.4&id=2.8&ll=6 .
I figure I would end up with it firing in the 20 watt range. BUT, i dont have that atomizer. Was just a suggestion based on the 1.4 to 1.8 ohm build parameter and the list of wire.

Using that same list of wire and my prefered vape style... I might still choose the 30 awg. but do a twisted wire single coil at 1ohm or so. To be run in either a Kayfun or Avacado 22. Certainly for builds over 1ohm......

My current vape is 1.15ohm 30SS Single in the Avocado running at about 15watts. 9 spaced Wraps on 2.7mm.... I dont use thicker than 28awg.. Most of my favorite builds are Kanthal or Nichrome. I prefer single coil twisted wire builds than run at less than 20 watts. Just started playing with SS and TC....

I have the Avocado 22 so once I can get a build right it might be some thing I use for this type of build when I can also see which of my juices are better suited to the higher ohms.

My reasoning behind the dripper was that I can have one at higher ohms and one for sub ohms so I can compare which juices are suited to what. Some times I want flavour and some times I want clouds and this way I could find which suits which better and have the choice.

I just tried a build but i'm guessing it was to many wraps as it took for ever to fire and then my mod got to hot and wouldn't fire at all with a warning.

I ordered the 28 and 30g kanthal which arrived today but I also got a free gift ( which I was not expecting) of SS but I won't mess with that for quiet some time if at all.

Gotcha......

I Have been using a Regulated mod last 6 months... Mech only for 2 years before that. Pretty much anymore I ignore ohm.. I pretty much have been building to battery life desires.... I don't like changing batteries more than 1x per day. That pretty much means regardless the ohm, mod or atty it's gotta vape at 20 watts or less. I pay more attention to surface area and mass of the coil and the amount of wick coverage the build gives.

I'm just a picky so n so that wants my cake and to eat it lol
I carry at least 3 sets of battries 4 tanks 2 spare pre built coils n 4 10ml bottles of juice every where I go. Would love my battries to last a full day but not with vaping at anywhere between 60 and 80watts that's never going to happen.
I'v been vaping the last 4 years on and off. Started with one of the cheep pen ones n they never satisfied me so I kept goin bk to the fags then about a year ago I got my first regulated mod and a kangertech mini and never looked back although both of those are in my vape spares and emergencys draw now. Since getting them I'v learnt to build coils and diy my juice so this was next step for me.
I'v mostly stuck between .4 and .5 ohms but it limits to a degree what I can vape and I wanna over come that.

I did get a 28 awg 1.5 single coil to fire n vape but i'm goin to keep experermenting n see how it goes because it wasn't great and maybe go back to the 26awg wire n see what I can do with that.

im vaping a 1.02 ohm single coil 26g Clapton (7wraps on a 3mm i.d) in both a kayfun V5 and a Taifun GT3 at only 17.5 watts and its a very enjoyable and flavorful vape...I think every tank/rda has a purpose and for low wattage a single coil tank with a more restricted air flow seems to be the best for such a quest...In my experience high ohms in a tank/rda with lots of air flow and big chambers with low power just don't work all that well.

Thanks Mike. The dripper I am using doesn't have a huge deck and the the options for air flow are wide open and very unrestricted flow or relatively tight ( for my liking any way) I think it will b a single simple coil I go for as the doubles i'm trying to work with haven't been great and I was aiming for to high ohms. I will experiment with more complex coils as time goes on and i'm more confident.
