Using more Juice.

I've just started DIY & all is going well thanks mostly to the information shared on this site. But I'm noticing I'm using A LOT more juice than I was. I did lower my NIC from 3mg down to 2mg so, I expected a slight increase but my total use has almost doubled. Has anyone else noticed/experienced this?

When my dad lowered his NIC, his juice consumption increased pretty drastically.. I would say it's normal.

It might also be from starting diy. You've got a new hobby your excited about and hence want to vape more. Also your saving money so subconsciously might be less worried about vaping more. Wouldn't worry to much you'll prob melo out soon.

Better juice is more fun to vape and since you know it costs you less you allow yourself to vape more.

^^^ This. A tiny decrease of just 1mg shouldn't cause a *drastic* increase, but it might contribute, along with the other factors, mentioned above. Have you changed your hardware? If you go from MtL to direct-lung hitting, and/or increase wattage, that could also cause an increase of juice usage.

I've heard others mention it, but they said after a couple of weeks they adjusted and it evened out.
Another person told me that they thought is was phycological ... they knew there was less nic, so the brain was telling them to vape more to make up for it. :p .. it plays games that way.
Most vapers settle in at 3mg, because they find themselves "edgy" and hard to live with on less ... unless you are working towards quitting altogether.
Scientifically, your body requires a certain amount of nicotine to operate right. Some get enough from their veggies,... some need more, like me. ;)

I plan to stay at 3mg, just so one day I don't look at my husband or son and say "who are you again?" :giggle:

Once I got free of the WTA, the nicotine was a piece o'cake. Really haven't even noticed the drop from 10mg, other than the lessening throat hit -- but i already used Flash, now I just use more. :)

Well that is a 33% drop in nicotine. That's a big percentage from an addictive drug point of view.....

Then there's the fact that DIY juice tastes better.

Good thing is DIY if done right cost a fraction of store bought..
So cut the nic back some more and vape away.

Nic is a funny thing. For me, straight nicotine does not seem to be all that addictive. I think that I was addicted to the chemical cocktail that the tobacco companies designed to make nicotine a more effective addictive agent. I went straight from 12mg to 3mg with no problems and these days I make my juice less than 1mg. And its only in there to give me a little throat hit at this point. I leave my vape sit for hours on end without taking a hit.

Ditto, all that, though in my own case I think it was the MAOIs, and the "minor" tobacco alkaloids that accompany nicotine in actual tobacco -- as I said above, once I was able to wean off the WTA (which took 15 months!), lowering the nic from 10mg to 3mg has been easy as falling off a log.

I think it was because I smoked ultra-light cigarettes for about the last 20 yrs of my total 39 yrs as a smoker -- I wasn't getting much nicotine from my cigarettes, but the rest of the alkaloid cocktail was still there, just as addictive as if I'd smoked Luckies for all that time.
