My brand-new Alien died.

Well crap. Sorry to hear it. I'd contact the vendor and get that exchanged right away. I don't know what the overall failure rate has been with them, but I don't think it's been terribly high. I have read posts of screens going nuts, so it may be the same manufacturing flaw intermittently occurring.

Thanks, Vesuvius. Me too. I ended up ordering another Alien (this one in Gunmetal) because resolving the situation might take a while and I wouldn't mind having two Aliens. I wouldn't mind a straight refund for the dead Alien but an exchange would be nice.
Will be interesting to see if anymore do that or if it is just a rare situation. Your luck with mods has sucked lately. Will it do anything if you try and run an update or anything? They are firmware upgradable right? Maybe that would wake it up, idk.
I tried updating the firmware but my computer won't recognize the device. That's why I think it's completely dead. I've tried absolutely everything and no luck. I'm not concerned because, really, it isn't a very expensive mod (unlike my DNA 250) so if it's a loss I won't be horribly upset. Still, I'm not interested in wasting any amount of money on something that doesn't work. Some sort of resolution with the seller where we are both happy is essential.
sucks it happens hopefully you used your credit card in case the seller is unscrupulousTwo days after receiving it, the display went crazy and then the device died completely.

Your item number isn't gone.....
Under your "my ebay" tab, click purchases.
Click the "view order details" on the right of the auction you won. It will show you on the page, your item number.
I got the item number off of PayPal but unfortunately because the listing was removed ebay doesn't recognize the item number.

This has me nervous, I just picked up one of these in the 7 color yesterday and after the nightmare situation with my kbox nano I'm watching this thing closely for any issues. Absolutely love it so far and haven't heard of to many issues with em, hope you get it sorted soon!
I own three Alien MOD's now and haven't had any issues with any of them. There are many others that own Alien MOD without any issues.
@EMusic either got a DOA mod or the seller knew it was a POS

I bought mine off "shpock". It's a online selling site. But I only buy local so I can see goods before I pay for them. I'm even weary of buying off amazon, even though I've had quality new items from amazon. But I'm 47 yrs old and maybe old fashioned in wanting to see what I'm getting before I give any cash out.

My newest Alien (gunmetal) works perfectly. Unfortunately it isn't a replacement from Smok, I purchased it myself (not wanting to wait for a replacement from Smok). If I want a replacement unit from Smok/Mad Vapes I will have to wait till mid-March when they get more Aliens in stock.
My gunmetal Alien has worked perfectly for two months and I have over 11000 puffs on the counter.
I was at a large B&M earlier in the week and asked a couple of the guys their thoughts on the Alien. Both said it is a rock solid device and they have had very few come back.
I guess the odd one will be crap and I feel sorry for the OP, but it should be swapped out by the seller.

I had the same problem with my first Alien. Screen went crazy and then it died. I took it apart and it had a whole bunch of juice in it. I think it came in thru the vent holes. I have a couple of more now and I tape up the vent holes. Not taking any chances!
