Hello, folks!

I'm kinda' at a loss at the moment, as I don't know what direction to take regarding flavorings. I'll do my best to keep this short.
So the main reason I'm concerned is that the only tobacco flavor I really enjoyed had been acquired from German vendors, who are not allowed to ship anything outside their borders anymore. And the profile isn't sweet at all, it has a slight "oaky" (does this term even exist?) aroma, a bit dry but in bearable amounts. I only have a bit of that flavor left, and the thing is I have tried over 9 types of tobacco flavorings and I couldn't stand any of them. Something noteworthy is that they either had a "chocolatey" taste to them (weird and sweet) or a strong spicy feel (like stuff with "sahara" in the name), I don't mind a little sweetness but I generally don't like sweet flavors like chocolate, deserts etc. Again, maybe those weren't great brands at all, I can't tell, honestly.

I'd been mostly using T-Juice stuff with menthol as I really enjoyed theirs, I am guessing the main factor is that they are not dry at all, neither overly sweet. Just smooth and pleasant overall. But I kinda want to move on from them as I find myself going through way too much menthol over the day.

So anyway after that I bought a bunch of stuff, to cut it short: flavorings like fruit from TPA, I couldn't enjoy those at all, they are a bit too dry and sort of bland tasting (dragonfruit was "okay-ish", but still way too dry for me to tolerate); after that 7leaves by FA, which is not bad by itself, but still feels a little dry and barely has any taste with some slight spice attached to it (although it really, really smells just like light cigs, amazing!); lastly 2 "crazy" fruit mix-ups from Twisted (apple and something similar to bubblegum, the apple is okay, but still a bit dry and not that complex of a taste, has a slight apple feel, though; the other one was just synthetic and weird). I start at 2% most of the time, then add 4-10 drops in steps after 1-2 days to check if it was maybe too weak, 50/50.

I've read some cool recipes around here, glad there are people willing to share them! The thing is that I'm a bit worried about ordering 10 flavorings for the sake of trying a recipe, assuming that my experience with deserts hasn't been that positive overall (also, have at least 10 flavor bottles sitting under storage with no purpose, since I didn't like them).

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this! I will be trying to cut this shorter to avoid wasting your time.

maybe describe the german tobacco flavoring you liked? perhaps some of the tobacco aficionados here can make a suggestion.

This was the best I could come up with (from above) "[...] the profile isn't sweet at all, it has a slight "oaky" (does this term even exist?) aroma, a bit dry but in bearable amounts." It's a bit hard to describe, the flavoring is really strong and has a woody profile (going over 2,5% is way too much f.e.), it smells 90% like a fresh-opened bag of rollable tobacco with slight humidity; I'd even go as far as saying it actually smells a bit nasty. Even though it smells like that, it doesn't feel sweet at all. My only gripe with it is that it's a bit dry, can get annoying after using it for a while because of that.

Sounds like it could be a Hangsen flavor that you're after. Most of the Hangsen blends smell exactly like you described as a fresh opened pouch of tobacco. RY1 and RY4 are on the sweeter side and flavors like USA Mix are more dry.

Flavourart tobacco flavors are pretty dry and spicey and definitely an acquired taste imo.

I know Vaperstek has some German flavors that are quite good. I have been dabbling in tobacco ice creams lately and as far as tobaccos go, Soho by Flavor Art is good. RY4 Double TPA is good as well and has a dryness about it that you may like. Black Honey is one not many people can make work well but I like it. I would at least try Soho, it is good.

I have only tried 7Leaves by FA, but I could get desert ship and soho from a local dealer. I've read soho has a herb-like taste to it, I might actually like it if it's not too strong. Hangsen flavors seem to be pretty scarce in EU, or at least I haven't seen any at most of the dealers; though it sure makes me curious now.

For a better definition, I'm open to any suggestion as long as it's not something overly sweet or chocolatey :D! Noticed most of the fruit recipes I came across include lots of stuff like vanilla+creams, I'm a bit afraid of it as I am generally not a fan of dishes that include it (such as ice cream). At the same time most of the fruit I have attempted to mix alone have been awfully dry or bland.

@ThatFrigginBlondeGirl I don't know why but German flavors have been a hit or miss in my case, found some really good ones, but also found awful ones (like stuff that has nothing to do with its description or is way too strong). The tobacco ones I've enjoyed were from Smoker Anarchy, though they have completely disappeared lol.

Thanks again for helping me out!

Aside from tobaccos, If you're able to source these flavors below you'd be able to make a lot of different recipes.

I also felt the same way as you when I started diy. I found it odd that cream and custard flavors were so popular, but then it dawned on me that they are delicious when mixed with fruits like strawberry, banana, peach, etc.

A lot of single flavors are 'thin' but toss in a cream or custard or cheesecake base and it fills everything out nicely. A good strawberry cheesecake mix is almost as good as eating the real thing. It has that thick, full mouth feel that a lot of simple 1 or 2 flavor recipes lack.

I vaped nothing but tobacco flavors for almost five years before I started dabbling with bakeries and desserts and barely vape tobaccos anymore. It just takes a little persistence, but you will find something you like that you can vape all day if you keep experimenting with new recipes.

If you can get them, Inawera brand from Poland has some good tobaccos that don't have any spice or other sweet additives.

INW (WG) Virginia Tobacco Absolute
INW (WG) (DNB) "Dirty Neutral Base"
(Some others are good but you need to read the descriptions well as some have floral/spice background)

Hangsen would be my other choice.

All the FA Tobaccos I've tried had "other things" besides tobacco flavor in them which I didn't like.

A fine flavor profile description.

Please correct me, but it seems you are seeking a fresh tobacco outcome with no hints of actual burning tobacco?

For the oak flavor you may consider adding a drop or 2 of FA Oakwood ( http://www.bullcityflavors.com/oak-wood-fa/ ) to whichever non-oak tobacco base you select.

@brandon555 spot-on, I think that has been my experience so far as well. I'm a bit anxious, however, when it comes to getting anything which can refer to vanillin, I really don't like either the smell, taste or the overwhelming "sweet weirdness". If those recipes really resemble those actual deserts, I guess that sounds much more optimistic, I can't feel vanillin in real recipes such as cheesecake and so on. Maybe I will pick up a few and see if I can actually taste vanilla in them (like mix some fruit with cream and such). I really want to get into FA as they seem like an awesome company, plus lots of reputable people recommend them. As a sidenote, I have mixed CAP vanilla custard before as low as 3% and I almost puked (not saying it's bad, just that I can't stand it). My tank had sat for the whole week drying up as I couldn't even put any e-liquid in it, cause it reeked of vanillin.

@RonJS haha, well it was an honorable attempt :D. I really don't know about burning tobacco flavors, I don't think I've ever tried any, but I would sure be willing to! As ironic as it might be, I think the attraction of cigs is that nastiness on the first puff (of course, never hoping to go back that route again).
Yeah, if I find a decent FA distributor here I will surely have Oakwood in the list, it sounds like it might be great for a cig recipe. I'm also considering HeadInClouds's light cig recipe, it sounds awesome. I'm curious about how Black Fire tastes now lol.

Currently looking into INW's EU dealers, that might be another great solution. Thanks!

For my purposes I group some tobacco flavors in 3 categories. The flavor of fresh unlit tobacco, after 1-3 puffs and the last 3rd of a stinky.

Heabob's suggestion of trying INW's TA's is a good one! You can mix to your liking by adding a bit of INW Dark Tobacco and or INW DNB (for ashtray notes ;)) to your selected TA base. (or combination of bases) If you want true tobacco flavor, for me and many others, nothing beats a NET.

For me, FA Oakwood provides a fine fresh oak flavoring but not as the oak flavor from, for example, a used charred oak whiskey barrel.

That's spot-on! Simple and very efficient way to sort it out, after reading that it makes me think about 7leaves as a really suitable example of the first one, it smells pretty much like an unlit davidoff cig (a bit sweet with a smooth smokiness)- european cigs are really different compared to american ones. Which flavors tend towards burning cigs? I am guessing Black Fire FA only works in recipes.

My favorite for smoking a cig. is FLV Cured Tobacco...

...with a tad of INW DNB mixed in.

I suggest you do a search of FA Black Fire here and on the DIY sub forums for reviews before purchase. I have it but do not use it very often. There's a reason for that. ;)
