Short atomizer?

I have a smok alien with the baby beast tank and the past few coils I've built have varied from a .25-.35 ohm and all the connections are tight and the coil is not touching the deck or casing but when I put them on my mod they will read at something different each time I screw on the tank like 1.2-2ohm and it says short atomizer. Also when I put them on my ohm reader the ohms will jump all over the place. I am using a ss Clapton wire. I'm at my wits end with this thing I could really use some help. I've built many successful coils for this thing so I can't figure out what's wrong.

Make sure the base of the rba is screwed tightly into the body of the coil. I had the same issue on the cloud beast rba.

OK I did that and it was but upon further inspection I noticed that the pin in the bottom of the tank has a lot of play in it like 1-2 mm and it just shifts from one side to the other. Do you still have your tank? Do you know if that pin is supposed to be fixed or spring loaded? I'm wondering if I should put some kind of lubricant on it.

The pin just floats, so it's moving like it should. None of mine move very easily, though. It takes a little push to move them.
