New recipe from a MIXUP?

Has anybody here ever screwed up a recipe but in the process created a new recipe that they liked? I was making up a 50ml bottle and accidentally swapped the Wild Blueberry (TFA) and Blackberry (TFA) amounts. The blueberry was originally 2.4 times more than the blackberry. I noticed after I added the blackberry but it was too late so I just swapped the amounts. Initial tastes are that it's not too bad but I'm going to let it sit for a couple days to see how strong it gets. I'm worried that the blackberry will overpower other flavors in the mix.

I was thinking that maybe I just accidentally improved one of my own recipes. Time will tell I guess. I thought this must have happened to others and was wondering if anybody else has ever done something similar? Or perhaps grabbed the wrong flavour and made a new recipe that worked.

While it hasn't happened to me, yet, I have a feeling it has happened to a lot of folks at one time or another. I just hope that when or if it happens to me it'll turn out to be something good!:ejuice:

Er, sorta. Got sent some mislabelled flavour a lttle while back. Was supposed to be Bourbon but was actually Grape. I mixed it with Ry tobacco flavour. At first it wasnt nice at all really, had a wierd mushroom taste going on. But i left it and the mushroom went away and i was left with a tobacco/grape vape. Now i dont recommend anyone make this on purpose because although i kept it and would vape it and have there are better ones out there to make the RYgrape. It showed me though that just because at first you think its not right, a bit of steep time can do wonders.

That is how many of the best recipes have been created.... the Chef starts out to create one thing.... finds that something tastes good along the way or screws-up and the result tastes good.. eitherway new recipe.

I'm worried that the blackberry will overpower other flavors in the mix.

I've only made a few small mistakes with measuring and only with the add-on flavors like creams, vanillas, etc.
Didn't really have a major impact tho.

Usually the Blackberry flavors are way stronger than the Blueberries but I've never tried the TFA Blackberry so...

Yes this was my concern as well. The TFA Blackberry IS quite a bit stronger than the TFA Wild Blueberry. I'm going to test it ove the next couple of days and see if it works or not. I guess worst case scenario is I have to split it in half and get the proportions a bit closer to the original recipe. In that case the Blackberry would only be approx. .2% more than the original.

I've saved the changes to the recipe though just in case!! ;)

I grabbed Meringue instead of Marzipan once Fortunately it was an ok vape and I may make it again.
I also did it once with Peanut Butter instead of Pistachio this one I have made again.
Word to the wise; If you keep your flavors arranged alphabetically read the labels anyway because you may have put them away wrong...duh.

I just tried a bit in my RDA and it's not bad at all. Just seems like the Blackberry has mostly taken over. I'll let it sit another day or so and may decide to split it up. I should make a 5ml batch of just the Blackberry to see how it compares. Then I would definitely know if any of the other flavours are making it through. :)

Good to hear those worked out for ya. Yeah ... Blackberry and Blueberry are only a couple letters off from each other. I didn't grab the wrong flavour I read my recipe wrong. Maybe a blessing in disguise but I'll be sure to pay closer attention next time.

Well I ended up splitting the juice in half and adding the proper ingredients to make it very close to the original recipe. It wasn't bad at all and was actually rather tasty. However it had a very pronounced blackberry flavour so I figured why waste all the other ingredients in the recipe and not be able to taste them.

So it all worked out in the end and I would have easily vaped it before the adjustments. And I realized that this was a good lesson in a couple of ways. Pay closer attention to the ingredient that I'm mixing and I now know the potency of the TFA Blackberry! ;)
