LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT RTA TANK-SUGGESTIONS WANTED

Hi all-
I just built my first coil using Kangertech Topbox mini RBA deck. I'm at 0.77 ohms and vaping at 26 w seems good, even though I am used to vaping prebuilt 0.5 olm coils at 40 w.
Looking for a new RBA I can vape under 50 watts (my mods are 75 & 80w but I rarely go over 40w). I may get another mod, too, but really like the Kanger bc it fits my small hand & is lightweight. I have an 80w Pico, which is a little too small for all-day comfort but great for when I'm on the go.. I vape all day, so my hand gets tired using those big boxy ones and cramps up using the tiny pico.

In the mean time, I'm looking for an RBA with 2.5+ ml capacity, 22mm is preferable so it'll fit my mods. I don't care much about clouds, am more interested in a good consistent flavor and fairly easy build. A big plus would be the ability to buy pre-made replacement coils so I wouldn't have to necessarily build coils. Gotta have a tank which is easy to pull apart & easy to fill, because my hands are old and decrepit. Preferably one that doesn't leak. (under $50)
I like the Congrevape Doge, but it's super-subohm and vapes best over 100 w. Not crazy about the wide bore drip tip, either. This thing uses notched 0.2 ohm coils (Helyx) which can be rewicked, but also comes with an RBA build deck which I can presumably build at 0.5 ohms.
The math on these things kinda confounds me, even though I've seen dozens of videos and read a bunch of info on it. Here's my question: Since lower olm coils support higher wattages, would I be able to enjoy vaping at 80 or 100 watts using 0.2 olms if I am used to 40 watts at 0.5 ohms? When building your own coils, does thicker wire make a finished product that registers lower or higher ohms?
Any suggestions for purchasing the flavor-loving tank of my dreams?

This doesn't tick all your boxes, but I just got an OBS Engine Nano, and I LOVE IT. It's 25mm, though, and you have to use your own coils. I have old and decrepit hands, too, so believe me when I say this is the most wonderful tank I could ever have imagined. It's dead easy to coil (buy pre-wound coils if you don't want to wind your own), you just stick the coil legs in the holes and screw the screws down. I'm not crazy about the Allen key that came with it for the screws, but I'm going to find a screwdriver styled hex driver and use that instead (I hate Allen keys because of my finger pain), but the Allen key works OK for now. Wicking, you stick the wick through the coil, cut it off flush with the bottom of the deck and stuff the ends in the wick holes with tweezers. There's no trimming or fussing required AT ALL. Filling? OMG, just pop the top ring up (it's easy to move up and down) and there's a beautiful big gaping hole there that you can use a glass eyedropper to fill. It takes me literally 10 seconds or so to re-fill this tank. Pop ring up, squeeze juice in, pop ring down, vape. :) And it holds 5.3 ml of juice.

I have a couple of mods that will only take a 22mm tank, but I love this tank so much I don't care about that teeny bit of overhang. It's hardly noticeable, and I'm OCD, so it should bother me, but its ease and functionality (oh, and did I mention FLAVOR?) way outweigh the cosmetics of a slight overhang. I'm currently using the .3 ohm clapton coil that came with the tank, and I'm running it at 40W, which seems to be the sweet spot for that coil. Previously, I was a .4 or .5 ohm coil gal at 30 to 35 watts. This tank is a bit cloudy, at least to me, but oh, the flavor! I have a couple more on order now, because this is the only tank I want to use on a regular basis for the rest of my life. I'll keep my previous favorites for emergency backups, but from now on, it's Nano only for me. They're not that expensive, Fasttech has them for $23 if I remember correctly - you should at least try one of these. I think you'd like it. :D

Oh, I forgot to say, this Nano also does not leak. Ever.

Tank sounds like a monster- overhang would bother me for the same reason, but more important- it wont fit on the pico with that silly raised battery cap.....but I guess it would be way top-heavy on that anyway.
Anyway,I'll check it out. For that price point, how could I go wrong? What do you mean 'the tank is cloudy'?

I can highly recommend the original Uwell Crown tank. The flavor it produces is fantastic, it's a 22mm tank, uses premade coils or you can build your own (with the optional RBA - about $7), and it's top filling like the TopTank Mini you are using. If you can build a coil for the TopTank RBA, then you can easily build on the crown RBA. When wicked properly, the Crown does not leak, ever.

BTW ... I'm using 3 Crowns and 2 TopTanks ... both are good with the RBA installed, but the Crown is the better of the 2.

It adds up to be a little on the expensive side but I am loving my Aspire Cleito 120, but the RTA 'System' is sold separate, it supports both single and dual coil builds, is very easy to build on and has amazing flavor. I have tried a few other tanks and am seriously considering buying another and maybe even an extra RTA deck. easy to build. I have had no leaks after watching this video review from vape don't smoke and using the wicking tips on it. I am loving the single coil build currently, still great clouds, amazing flavor and saves on juice and battery vs. dual coil build.

It's not a monster, because it's relatively short, but that's why it's 25mm. I'm sure it wouldn't fit on the Pico with the battery cap, though. All I meant by "cloudy" was the vapor is dense. That might be greatly due to the clapton coil in it, though. ;) The narrowest mods I have (Evic minis) are 23mm across the top, so this only overhangs 1mm on the side, which I'm willing to overlook because of how much I like the tank. But then again, I've never used the other tanks that have been recommended to you, and they might be better. I have a lot of tanks, including the Limitless and the Boreas (now, those are big) and they used to be my favorite tanks, until this one. The others have dual coils, though, so they burn through a lot of juice. I like the single coil in this because it gives good flavor without going through so much juice. I vape a LOT. :) Plus everything about it is so easy.

Okay, so other than the overhang ( I hate overhang ), this sounds like a perfect tank. I think you may have sold me on getting one to try out. :)

Yeah, my son has a Crown. He likes it a lot, but I have tried his and don't notice a huge improvement in flavor over my Kanger. He's not really a 'hobbyist'.
Only prob with the Crown RBA unit is that it seems a bit small. I might be ready to forego having my cake and eating it and just get an RTA that doesn't necessarily take pre-built coils. I already have 3 tanks that use pre-builts, so I can use one of them when I need the convenience. Thanks for the suggestions, I will be researching every one dilligently.

I am seriously looking at the OBS Engine Mini- same price point but 23mm. I know, only 1 mm difference, but I think it would be less objectionable. Either it holds 5.2 or 3.5 ml of juice (?) there are conflicting details on this. Actually, I'd prob prefer the smaller capacity.
I just saw a video about how to make twisted coils. I don't know if these are good to vape with, but I made one (will try next time I need to rebuild). Anyhow, take a length of 26 ga. wire (12"?), fold in half and stick one end into electric drill. Hold the other end with needlenose pliers, and crank it (not too fast). This may be a trick everybody but me already knew, but I thought it was cool.

I make my smaller twisted coils the way you mentioned. My favorite way to do a twisted coil for a nice and somewhat beefy build is with three 26ga strands. It's so easy to do and I find it preferable to Claptons in every way. :)

It's basically the same, except instead of folding one strand to effectively make it two strands you put the three strands parallel to each other with one end in the drill and the other gripped in your pliers and twist to perfection! That's the build I'm using on my Tsunami 24 currently.

Yeah, I ended up with a really tight twist on the one I made, then used a 3 mm jig with 5 wraps. I am super new to this craft, so I basically have no idea what I have created. But it's fun to explore. I imagine 3 plies would require a pretty big diameter coil (3.5?) & a roomy deck. But then you're going to be able to jam a lot of cotton inside, too.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out. Buying an extra deck seems sensible, that way you can have one ready to go without getting the whole kit out when it's time for a new coil. I am really into convenience ;)

Mine are 3mm inner diameter. Like I said it's somewhat of a beefy build but in my Tsunami 24 it fits just right and works amazingly.

If you are building your coils with stainless steel, it should not be too inconvenient to build a new one every couple months (or longer) ... :)

Not that, but you know your coil will fail when you're halfway out the door on your way to a job interview.......:gaah:

I just started building, too. Everyone (minus one) on VU has been helpful & patient with stupid questions.
You know you can clean them if they get gunked, right? Take out the cotton and fire the naked coil, dunk in water-ssssssssss- and swish around, repeat. Of course you do have to be careful not to get your mod wet, just dunk the wire coil! Plenty of YT vids on this.

SS coils should last quite a long time. I get 2-3 months out of a simple single strand coil, I would expect twisted to last even longer. I keep meaning to twist up some wire and give it a try to see how it affects the coil lifespan.

If you clean it in short pulses, it doesn't put the same stress on the coil, and should help extend it's lifespan.

Thanks I'm feeling better about taking on my vacation and not needing a stack of coils!

I'd still take a box or two along ... just in case. If you don't want to take too many, then you can always find out where the closest shop to your hotel is and see if they stock the coils for your tank. This way, if something goes wrong you will still have options and not be left high and dry. HTH!!!
