Advice on Best Temp Regulated Box mod

I have been vaping on a Kangertech k-box nano for about 6 months and am interested in stepping up my box mod.

So far I have already bought :
Innokin iSub G Tank
A few Clapton .5 coils
EFEST V4 LUC UNIVERSAL LCD CHARGER
4 LG (Brown) HG2 18650F HIGH DRAIN 3000mAh 20A Rechargeable Battery

I want to get a temp control box mod so I can conserve juice and coils and cut down on bad flavor hits. I have looked around and was about to get a joyetech cuboid 150 tc, but then I read they were having a lot of problems in TC. I am not mechanically savvy enough nor have the time to build my own coils and i think a good accurate TC model is the way I wanna go. I want to know what you guys would recommend as a good accurate TC model in the $40-$80 range with at least 100W capabilities.

Hi @ztb17 and welcome to the forums.

I'm not sure what you have read about the Joyetech problems in TC, can you point me at a source? I had a Cuboid (it was stolen) and I loved it, TC seemed rock solid. I also have a few other Joyetech/Wismec chipset mods, and no problems with any of them. I'm interested to see what you are reading about them.

I have the eVic VTC Mini, RX75, RX200S, AIO, Centurion, Vaporflask Stout, and probably something I'm forgetting about too. Every single one of them seems to work beautifully and is supported with regular firmware updates to add new features and make the mods better. In fact, there are even aftermarket firmwares that can add capability and functionality, although they are not supported by the manufacturer. I will admit my DNA 75 and DNA 200 mods are all a little more consistent, but a LOT harder to get them set up properly. I actually prefer my Wismec/Joyetech mods for day to day use for that very reason.

Other than Joyetech and Wismec mods, I can recommend the Smoant Battlestar and Knight V2 mods. TC with both is very simple and seems to be very consistent. The downside is they are very simple ... no really advanced options for them, but if you want something easy to use and fairly bullet proof, they can't be beat.

I would stay away from the following brands, none have been anywhere near consistent: Kangertech, Smok, Sigelei, SMY, and Aspire. I've owned them all, and they really weren't very good.

If you have a local vapeshop, I recommend you go there and play with a couple of different mods and figure out what feels the most comfortable and best in your hand. After you've picked out a few that you like, do the research and see what the known problems are. Stop back in here with your finalist list and ask what people think of them.

HTH!

Thanks for the information. Great informstion for someone trying to get deeper into the hobby. I have a list of contenders after heavy tea search over the past week. They are as follows:
Ipv6x
Joyetech cuboid tc
Vaporesso 160w tc

These are probably the three I'm most positive on. Any recommendations on these three would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello ztb17 and welcome!

I use my cuboid on a somewhat regular basis. The last software upgrade added a preheat function, which makes all the difference in the world for this mod.

To be honest though, you can pick up the Hohm Slice for cheaper and at least to my preference gives a better Vape experience ... especially with temp control.

I have the IPV5 (not the 6X) and it is tremendously underwhelming. The Yihi chips Pioneer4You uses in their mods is a pretty good performer, but their build quality is below average and they tend to fall apart and just not hold up to daily use. Over the last few years I've owned a few of the IPV series mods, and they just don't hold up.

I had the original Cuboid 150, and it was AWESOME, one of the best mods I've owned in the price class, but then it was stolen (along with my crown tank). I am a real fan of the chipset used by Wismec/Joyetech, every single one I've ever owned has been rock solid with one exception, but that particular mod was replaced with an identical mod that has held up very well with no complaints.

I have zero knowledge about the Vaporesso.

Out of the 3 you mentioned, I can personally recommend the Cuboid. I don't know if it helps or not, but here is a link to my original review of the mod. http://vapingcheap.com/joyetech-cuboid-review/ ... HTH!

Hohm Wrecker G2 I have heard great things about. Waiting to get one myself.

You dont want the IPV 6X if you want a good tc mod, I love my 6X but only as a good, portable, power only mod, the tc sucks on it. Buy a DNA or Hohm tech mod if you want good TC.

Id suggest looking at the Joyetech Primo or if you can wait a couple weeks, the Wismec Predator 228 will be shipping. Looks like it will be the first great sub $50.00 dual 18650 device of 2017. You can find them both at 3fvape.com under the TC mods. Good luck, and let us know what you end up with.

The Cuboid I think works very well in TC mode, and I really do like mine. I think all of the Joyetech/Wismec mods that I own are good at TC for their price, the 510 is not the best but as long as you don't go cranking tanks and RDA's down you will be fine.

I can't actually comment on the Hohmtech mods as I don't own one myself, due to them not being very good value in the UK compared to the USA.

If you did get the Cuboid, I am very sure you will be happy with it. Do know it has a low output amp limit of 25A though. If you are building above around 0.16 though, you will be fine at hitting 100W.
