Ok guy's I'm a little confused here. I'm a newbie to mixing my own liquids but have been spending so much on my e-liquid I had to find a way to cut it down. To make it a little simpler by not mixing the nicotine and PG/VG I found a kit that comes with the base premixed for me and all I have to do is mix my flavors. My Kit will come with:

The 1000ml Vapor Day Bundle = 66 x 15ml bottles of your favorite creation. The bundle includes your choice of PG/VG/Nic mixing base, your choice of 10 x 10ml bottles of flavor extracts, and includes 5 x 15ml dropper bottles, and 3 x 30ml dropper bottles. I'm also getting 1ml, 5ml, 10ml syringes and a 14ga/16ga blunt needles.

On the 1000ml base I chose a 70vg/30pg with a 3mg NIC Mix.
This is where the confusion comes in. Is this 3mg NIC per 1ml or 3mg per 2ml ? Not sure.

I'm confused on the mixing calculators where it asks for my base mix. How much Total mg NIC would be in the 1000ml Base if I chose a 3mg NIC ?

I just want to make sure I am doing this right.

They will do it as a percentage overall I expect for the volume you select and ....as to how much nic exactly depends on

1) what the suspension they are mixing with (pg or vg?) this will allow you to know whether you lower the vg or pg in the calculation

2) Also depends on how potent that nic base is before they mix it as to how much they put in for 3mg

I always buy mine seperately so I know exactly what amounts I put in myself :)

The 3mg is in your case for the whole 1000ml's. Break in down into any smaller size containers it will always be 3mg. It only will drop down from 3mg when you add in your flavors.
Think of it as a percentage of nicotine in your VG PG mix.

Edit KP beat me to it:)

I just noticed that it said "This is a combination of PG / VG and 3mg per ML of nicotine" So am I right to say that a 1000ml bottle will have 3000mg of NIC in it?

Nicotine is always expressed as mg/ml, so for your calculator you would put in 3mg and 30 pg 70 vg for your base. Note that once you add flavors your finished liquid will contain less than 3 mg/ml and will not be 30/70 pg/vg. I always buy separate PG, VG, and 100 mg Nic in PG so I'm in control.

Got you. Thanks. I may go that route then. I appreciate it. I am an electronics technician by trade but have never messed with Chemistry. I'm also a Amateur radio operator also and I love to build stuff so this sounds like a lot of fun! I never thought I could have so much fun quitting cigarettes ! I appreciate all the replies.

Most nic bases you buy on thier own tend to be 72mg/ml the way to calculate how much nic you put in is ......

(Desired Strength (%) / Concentrated Nicotine Strength) x Bottle size (in milliliters) = Amount needed (in milliliters)....see number 2 below

So let's make some assumptions here

You want to make 1ltr of a mix base
You buy individual VG, PG and nic base the nic base is suspended in PG at a concentrate of 72mg/ml

You want a 70/30 mix vg to pg with 3% nic

So you would need to first add

1) 700ml of VG
2) 3 / 72 x 1000 = 41.66ml of nic suspended in PG
3) 300ml of PG - 41.66ml = 258.34ml of PG

There you have 1000ml of 70/30 mixed base @3% nic ...

following on though I tend to mix it all as I'm mixing flavour concentrates with it as recipes on this forum will be expressed in %'s ...since nearly all concentrates are suspended in PG you would want to reduce the amount of PG in your base to accommodate the total of the flavour concentrates otherwise you'll end up with less than 70/30.

..if your ok with that no worries :)

Fair enough ...Well 48...20 whatever... I assume you have some sort of concentration level that you calculate from wherever you buy from on your side of the "pond" ..I also said in my post after that I made some assumptions 72 was one of them calculation doesn't change though (apart from concentration number)

@Calikid I encourage you to research yourself as well always check different sources and guides see if what I'm saying is a load of bollocks or not ...but this is how I personally calculate it I'll find some links ...edit coming up with links

Tons of different calculators on that link above check a few out show whether my workings are correct or not ;)

Also see below links for safety aspects handling nic

Yes! Each to their own desired nic base starting level....and Whatever it may be for me at the time, I just plug it with other numbers into the Free ejuicemeup program (http://ejuice.breaktru.com/) to determine my final desired nic level and make life easy peasy.

Yes I've seen all those calc's out there. I will use one when I do the mix. I appreciate it. Can't wait to start mixing.

Well Kingpin I ordered a kit from DIY E-liquid that has some bottles, syringes, blunt needles, 5 extracts, PG, VG, NIC and I added a 500ml bottle of 6mg premix. that I can drop to 3mg if I need to. I also added 5 blends that I can vape right away after mixed while the extracts are steeping. The highest NIC they had was 36mg though but I usually vape between 3mg-6mg so should be good. A lot cheaper than buying these 60ml bottles of juice from the store here at $22.00 a pop, and that's with a coupon. Got my station all setup and am just waiting for the order to arrive. Also got a Lemo3 Tank that I will use for RTA and I will build my own coils as I need them. Got some japanese organic cotton for the wicking. Just trying to knock a little expense off of this fun habit ! Hell I could never do that with the stinkies ! I'll let you know how it all turns out. Thanks for all the advice dude.

No worries happy to help DIY liquid will save you an absolute fortune after the initial outlay although it is a bit of a rabbit hole especially as concentrates can cost a bit when your trying things to see what you like when first starting out
...when I first started I tried to pick a few recipes with 2-3 flavours in them bit cheaper that way as some of them have 6-7 different flavours in them!...treated myself to a few new concentrates once a month (or replace some expended ones for the recipes I really enjoy)- in fact this month I'll be

...it's disgusting how much they charge really for all the pre made juice, they are making such a mark up on it ....think I bought about 2 bottles of pre made juice when I first started vaping cost about £40 and lasted me and the wife the weekend after that I though sod that! This is more expensive than rollies were so found this site never looked back since :)

If you need any advice on coil building give me a shout loads of helpful articles around this forum to help you

I agree on the markups on the e-liquids. It's phenomenal ! What a great business that would be. California today has imposed a 28% excise tax on all e-liquids and tobacco related vape products. I guess big tobacco is pissed because they are losing so much money. Anyway not to political but it's not surprising to me. This state raises taxes all the time if they know people are having fun ! <g>.
