Hey guy's Been vaping 70vg/30pg but anything over 30pg I get to coughing and sore irritated throat so I got me some 100%vg also but my flavors are PG based so it not quite 100%vg but damn close. I notice when I vape high VG it wreaks havoc on my Dual Claptons. They get burnt looking like and a little gummy and I was coughing up a storm when that happenes. My question is can I clean those coils off and continue to use them or do I just need to replace them? I know it's not the cotton cause I just changed it yesterday. I got me some 28 gauge wire on the way but won't receive it till Friday so I've been vaping off factory EC's till I get the new wire. The Dual Claptons I am referring to are the ones that came with the Lemo3 tank. What can I clean them with. I don't have a wire brush on hand. Is there a solution I can use or is the wire pretty much spent ? Being retired I vape all friggin day and most of the night.

Get a wire brush and use quality juice
By far the best and cleanest I've ever had

Just wash them off with a toothbrush under water then dry burn them a bit and another quick rinse. Good as new.

Just a note on dry burning:
When you pulse the coils, they only need to glow a dull red. No need to get them white hot.
Also, let them cool or dip them in water to cool. Don't melt the toothbrush. LOL

Cleaned them up and pulsed them as you stated gakudzu and it's vaping like a dream. These are at 0.47 ohms and I'm running 47 watts @ 5.18v, seems to be at 11 Amps even. Nice and warm and tastes great. Mixed up a 70/30 mix so hopefully this will work till friday when I can build a new coil.

I'm hooked on these claptons. Don't want to go back to the EC's. So much vape and much better flavor.

Seems like if I go over 60 watts it pops pretty bad. Is the coil flooding when thats happening ?

Glad you got em going again!
They can usually be cleaned multiple times before they're junk. Some folks use theirs until they literally break, lol. I'm still vaping on a pair of aliens I made around New Years. Cleaned em 5 or 6 times. Still cookin'.

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if one of the legs broke while vaping ?

You're using a regulated mod, right? If so, it will probably not fire since the resistance will double if one coils breaks. It should detect the change and throw a warning screen.

Just saw the question on popping.
The higher wattage is just flash-boiling the thick juice. If you really need the extra power, you could try to find an anti-spitback driptip.
Flooding usually occurs when the wattage is too low.

Oh ok. It has a pretty good drip tip on it. I don't really get juice in my mouth when it pops.

60w sounds high for a 0.47ohm coil. It could be contributing to the gunking.

I actually turned it down now and I'm at 52 watts. At 50 it seems like it's not cooking enough.

The original coil was 0.85 but when I cut the legs to install the coil it went down to 0.46

That doesn't sound right at all. The leg length doesn't affect resistance that much. Maybe 0.85 is for one coil, and when you put two in, the resistance dropped to about half the 0.85. If that's the case, that's normal. It's a parallel deck.

Your right. 0.85 was for each coil.
