I just saw a spot on Newsroom Tokyo. Sony Xperia is coming out next year with a cell phone that can turn any hard surface into a touch screen. It uses pretty stock projection technology but combines it with hand movement/gesture recognition software. You could have a keyboard three feet wide!
Demoed it showing a really big qwerty keyboard, drawing & text recognition using one finger, even a full size piano keyboard.
First really new thing I have seen in cell phone technology in a long time. IF it actually works as good as it demos.

I like the counter tops with the screen, where you can use it like a pc, video time with someone, look up recipes etc... But, that is way cooler.
But wait for all the monies to go all digital and you can just walk through the check out in stores. They had a guy doing that in a commercial, it has been a while back. The commercial hasn't been shown in quite some time though.
