Some people never seize to amaze me! I can only waste so much breath on stupidity and can only try to advocate so much, but sometimes I have to verbally throw my hands in the air and say fuck it, you're an idiot and I can't help that. This was the end of my conversation with a future Darwin Award winner...

Quote of the day, "I've tried vaping, patches, gum, but there is nothing better than the real thing"...my response was, "So is that cancer, COPD, Emphysema and heart disease your going to get...enjoy!"

I love it.
And it always comes from the sallow skinned zombie breathing like a pug while taking a drag.

Or how about the "vaping is too hard" idiots. I just tell them... yes, smoking is easy. And with smoking, it's also very easy to die. So enjoy!

Something that's going to improve your health IMMEDIATELY and probably give you quite a few more years of life to enjoy it, is worth some effort!

I don't push people. There are a TON of smokers where I work. I vape where they smoke, MOST of the time. When they ask questions, and they do, I answer them. When they start showing more interest, I'm happy to help, but I don't push. I think vapers can be as offensive to smokers, as smokers are to vapers. I wasn't ready til I was ready, but I was definitely curious.

I don't push people either....but, I work at a Vape shop and this lady came to me, not the other way around. I'm very respectful of others, especially when I am out in public. I typically only take a MTL device with me when out in public and don't vape in places that a typical smoker wouldn't smoke in. Like yourself, I will go hang out with the smokers and never push my agenda on anyone, but if you are going to come to me with nonsense like that I will be the first to tell a little cold hard truth...shit my own mother smokes cigarettes and I have never tried to pressure her into vaping as I know when she is ready (if she ever is) I will be there to help her transition away from them.

I would have torn a pound of flesh off her verbally for doing that.
As the saying goes. "don't start no shit, there won't be no shit".

That is tantamount to going into a gun store preaching gun control.

I would hate to be that person. But I'd love be the fly on the wall when it went down.

I'm a pretty chill guy, but it would have been warranted considering she was spouting off some pretty ignorant stuff. She was one of those people that walks into a headshop asking, "do you guys sell ****?" And yes I get that question daily even though it's a vape shop with no other paraphernalia.

Sometimes saying less is more, because certain people will never get it. Much like running your head into the wall repeatedly and not understanding why your head hurts.

I don't push either... but then, I don't know or encounter any smokers, as a rule. But go around them, where they're smoking??? No fucking way, I don't want that stench getting into my hair and clothes, after I finally got rid of it!

If we go out to eat -- rare, but occasionally -- I'll go outside to vape, but I will NOT go around smokers, no way, no how, no sir. If the weather's bad, I'll go sit in my truck!

Here they are trying to put the head shops out of business and make that only sold in dispensaries.

Having done enough retail I most likely would have asked where she lived so I could come over to her house and lay a steaming pile in her living room. I just do not take kindly to the ignorant bashing shit.

My favorite so far.......................................

I was actually in the Pickaway (Ohio) County Courthouse waiting in line to pay my property taxes.

I was also politely vaping (been doing this for years in the same situation without incident .

Someone (Some Idiot) crossed the lobby to ask me what I was doing.

I said, "Vaping instead of Smoking". Very Politely

She told me that I could not vape DRUGS inside of the courthouse.

I assured her that I was not vaping drugs at the courthouse because I only vaped drugs at home.

This seemed to have appeased her as she went back in line.

And the armed Courthouse Security Guard did a damn fine job of not completely cracking up!

Not sure why you included "working out"... some perfectly sane people -- such as myself and my husband -- don't work out, and aren't obese.

I'll run if something's chasing me, but under no other circumstances. Sweating... UGH.

I added it as one of the things that has healthy benefits to it...wasn't saying that it's something you should do. Lol...I don't work out either and I look like an Ethiopian marathon runner.

If I had access to a swimming pool, I'd definitely swim regularly; aerobic exercise is a great thing for asthmatics. But I can't fucking stand sweating, it's just gross.

IMO working out isn't about obesity. I lost weight a few years ago by lowering my calorie intake. I could have done that and been a couch potato.

I work out because of arthritis, mostly for strength and range of motion. My left hip is going to be replaced soon I hope. Without the work outs and being generally physically active I would have a hard time just walking now. Right now I'm ramping up my workout intensity and amount of work I do to help with my recovery. It really contributes a lot to my overall health, specially as I get older.

I rarely sweat at the gym though, that mostly happens in the summer when I do work outside :)

There was a meme recently in the Meme thread that expressed my feelings perfectly: "the best thing about getting older is NO MORE PE." Couldn't have said it better if I TRIED.

LOL, I hear ya Andria.

The funny thing is I hated PE when I was in school too. I didn't get into sports until I was in my early 20's and discovered I really enjoyed it. Over the years I got pretty big into skating, skiing and bicycle touring. Go figure.

Had some fun times and some great adventures to tell the grand kids about about

I liked bowling a lot when I was young; I was on a league at work so I got enough practice to get actually pretty good at it -- my avg was around 150 at one point, and I once actually bowled a turkey! But gardening in my late 30s fucked up my right shoulder pretty badly, so I doubt I could hurl a 10 lb ball down a lane anymore; maybe a 6 lb ball. :D I liked roller skating as a teenager, but I'm afraid my bones might be a bit too old for the falls that are so common in that -- when you're a kid, who cares; I never had a broken bone in my life, despite my innate clumsiness. But at nearly 56? I'm thinking I need to live surrounded by rubber. :D And I LOVE swimming, it's the best exercise EVER, but i don't have access to a pool, damn it all. Anything else... pft. I'd rather sit at my desk, play in the webz, and read books, plus the daily cooking and dishes and laundry, etc.

Since I moved my desk into my bedroom (from the kitchen), I think I get more exercise now; I seem to commute back and forth from bedroom to kitchen and back again about every 15 minutes. :D

Just saying.... exercise of any sort.... except swimming, is the Debbil!!!! I would happily swim everyday for the rest of my life. I loathed PE... especially in HS when we were required to run the mile EVERY FUCKING DAY!!! My teacher was this big ol' fat woman... the other PE coach was a skinny tiny short woman who ran every day with her class. My teacher walked s l o w l y everyday... She'd get on to me for walking and finally one day I get fed up enough to be like, "Why don't you run like Ms Ginger does with her class?" Her excuse was she had a foot problem, a heel spur, and that was why she couldn't run. LOL!!! I said, " Um NO I'm sorry but you don't have anything wrong with your foot. My mama had a heel spur a couple years ago and she couldn't barely take a step without limping horribly." She looked at me like I had two heads cuz she figured I didn't know what a heel spur was. I got a steady 80 in the class for the rest of the year. :p I win!

Unfortunately 'in shape' is more of a stereotype. I've learned it can mean a lot of different things, plenty of thin people out of shape or heavier people with pretty good cardio. Same goes for strength. Met plenty of skinny wimps and plenty of hefty folks with gorilla genes. I think the biggest disappointment was boot camp. Never really expected much from pe, it was usually lame and I hated running as well. When I enlisted I wasn't fat or anything, wasn't in too bad of shape for someone who didn't work out since I worked construction.

So enter basic, figuring cool, they'll turn me into some ripped form of my former self. HA! If anything I gained weight though to be fair I'm sure most of it was muscle. I did a shit ton of pushups, situps and ran more than I care to. Think I'd get a six pack? Hell no. Went from struggling to eek out a dozen or so situps to being able to do 60 in 2min. My mile runs as a kid that took me 15-18min turned into 2mi runs that broke down to a mile in just over 8min. Still wasn't skinny or chiseled.

One of my faves was a drill sgt who was built like buford t justice's chunky cousin. Surprised the hell out of me how he climbed a rope so fast lmao. Just wouldn't want him leading the charge into a tunnel, we'd have had a winnie the pooh situation going on. :p

Sounds like b.s. for someone to go in somewhere that caters to a specific crowd then insult them. Other than that, I'm not on any sort of crusade. I didn't agree with the ridiculous anti tobacco commercials built on fear mongering when I was a smoker and that hasn't changed. I consider myself an ex smoker, not an anti smoker. I don't have to be anti smoking just because I'm pro vaping and that's only because it's offered me a healthier alternative. If a smoker had questions or was curious I'd be glad to help inform them but not out to avoid them or berate them for their choices.

I can kind of see the person's point, when you're addicted to cigs and still smoking there really isn't anything that's 'as good' (as messed up as it sounds). Patches and gum deliver nicotine but that's only part of the addiction, it doesn't replace the habits. Don't get me wrong, I like vaping and I like the flavors, enjoy having my sense of smell return, most of all I enjoy basically getting to do what I like to do without all the coughing and hacking. I'm sure it would have been much more difficult to make the transition personally if I were 'fine' smoking (aka not coughing my guts up). That sort of pressing condition can be pretty persuasive to make a change. In that regard I'm fortunate that my immediate health helped choose for me.

When I started vaping, using an eRoll, and 6mg ejuice, I was amazed that vaping was actually BETTER than smoking -- I smoked ultralights, and though VA Slims, which I'd been used to ever since their full-flavor version, gave me better throat-hit than any other brand, vaping still gave me better TH, without making me cough, as that much TH from a cigarette would ALWAYS make me do -- that was why I had to go from Lights to Ultralights over 20 yrs ago. And after eating, the TH effect was even more pronounced, so the after-meal cigarette turned out to be the easiest to get rid of, not the hardest as I'd thought it would be.

When people say things like "it's just not as good as smoking," I think it's because they've made up their mind that it's not as good, and therefore it never will be. All these people who apparently feel the NEED to exhale clouds that look more like whipped cream than smoke, what total BS; smoke was never that thick! It's strictly in their minds. But then, a good deal of the smoking addiction is mental, so I suppose whatever works is still a good thing, even if it annoys everyone around the cloud-exhaler -- at least it doesn't smell as bad as cigarette smoke.
