Can someone help me save this Bailey's?

Ugh, after nearly two years, I've finally made a recipe I don't like. I guess that's a pretty good record, but really, this is UGH! I love real Bailey's, but I probably have the wrong flavoring. In my defense, I got it a year ago (maybe more) after having tried a sample of some Bailey's juice from somewhere that I really liked. I got Capella's because I *think* that's what the juice manufacturer used.

Anyway, I made a small bottle to start working on with 5% CAP Irish cream and 1% TFA bittersweet chocolate. I figured tasting it would tell me where I needed to go from there, but yikes, all I can taste is bad rotgut whiskey! I added some cream base mix I made (custard and various creams) in the tank with this stuff about half and half, thus reducing the Irish cream to around 2.5%, and rotgut whiskey is still all I can taste, after suffering through at least 15 minutes of chain vaping to make sure the mix was even and the old, strong stuff had worked out of the wick.

I know the consensus here is that FA Irish cream is the best (and I believe you!), but I didn't know that back when I ordered the Cap's version. Has anyone else ever used Capella's, and have any tips on what I can do, if anything, to save this? Or is it destined for the sink drain? (Trust me, scrooge that I am, it wouldn't hurt my feelings too much to dump this awful stuff out.) Maybe I should start again, using like HALF a percent or something? With not only several cream flavors but maybe also something like caramel or marshmallow, maybe a sweetener?

Any opinions or previous experiences would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks! I hadn't seen that thread before. (Thanks, HIC!) Yeah, "1 part Bailey's" and I don't even have the right Irish cream. I've already decided the percentage needs to drop down to 1%, at least for me. That whiskey taste is too intense. Then I think a bit of caramel, maybe, to smooth it out, definitely some sweetener, and a bit more chocolate. The whiskey flavor has completely overwhelmed my "touch of chocolate" already. I'll peruse the different combinations on the drink thread and see what else strikes my fancy. I love a good Bailey's & cream in the summertime, and having a vape of that flavor would be so beneficial to my waistline. ;) I can really overdo those when I start on them - it's worse than milkshakes! LOL!

I'll re-work this one tomorrow if I have some spare time. Hopefully, I can salvage what I have, but it's no great loss if I have to start over. Eventually, I'm sure I'll come up with something I like. This is the first time I've thrown something together that caused me to make a face when I vaped it, and I think I'm traumatized. It's all good, though, this is how I learn.

If you haven't tossed it, and have any plain almond, maybe try 0.5%. Not toasted almond. It wasn't CAP Irish Cream, but with FA, I found it smoothed a mix I was playing around with.

Guys, THANK YOU! Excellent ideas, and I have both those flavors! I haven't had time today to fiddle with this, and probably won't today, but I'll think on which one (or both) might help this. I feel a forehead slapping urge with the tiramisu suggestion. That would actually be perfect. It would add the little bit of coffee and chocolate needed, and a bit of cake to settle the harshness. I also have plain FA almond as well, so I'll give it a sniff and see if maybe a touch of that would be helpful as well.

I have to say, the tank I mixed yesterday with the half Bailey's crap and half of my cream mix is much better today than it was yesterday. So it might end up being a cumbersome recipe, but I see a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. :D Thanks again, and I'll let you know how this turns out, when I finally get it finished. It might not still be "Bailey's" when I'm done, but it sure as hell should be tasty.

(I still can't believe I didn't think of the tiramisu myself, geez... )

Have you tried just a stand alone mix of the CAP Irish cream ?

I was wondering if that or the additions made to it might be the culprit.

if in a glass bottle low setting crockpot bath for an hour or so will round that harsh off it also.

Been adding tiramisu to all sorts of shit mix wise and kind of shocked how well it works with everything.

The mix as it is now is 5% Irish cream and 1% bittersweet chocolate, but I KNOW the chocolate flavor is good because I use it a lot. This was the first time using the Irish cream flavor, though. I still haven't had time to fix the bottle I made, all I did so far was mix it in the tank with the cream mix, which tells me at the very least it needs more creams and less Irish. ;)

I know, that's why I was smacking myself over that suggestion, I use tiramisu a lot, and it's the perfect match for just about everything I like. I even have a bottle of just plain tiramisu (3% with nothing else) that I use for "tank mixing" when I feel the need.

My bottles are all glass, and although I don't have a crockpot, I do have an ultrasonic cleaner that I use for more complex juices. I'll try that, too, thanks!

If no crockpot you can get a mug, heat water to near boiling fill to neck of bottle and rinse and repeat it a couple of times.

My Nasty friend ;) - once again I have a  moment. I knew that, and it would be lots easier than the ultrasonic cleaner, too. ;) Thanks. :blowkiss: I got into the habit of using the ultrasonic cleaner after my wonderful husband bought it for me (I didn't want him to think he'd wasted his money, because he's a big ol' scrooge of the first order), and I kinda fell out of using the hot water in a cup method. Now, I'm usually topping off an almost-empty bottle of juice, so I don't do anything with those except add the additional ingredients, shake well, and stick back in the cupboard. :)
