Thought i would copy and post this over here as health and vaping seem to be a hot topic . This does not sound to me like " ECF " (regardless of how you feel about them) is looking to scare people as many suggest .

Hoping the responses can be of a mature nature and it doesn't (as usual) end up as a profanity laden mess . Despite what some may think excessive cussing makes you look like a moron , sad but true .

Enjoy

  1. Death by Vaping
    Gidday to all,

    Now I'm not trying to be a smart ..., nor am I morbid, and I love vaping, it's the best thing since sliced bread.

    I know that some ingredients that go into some manufacturers eliquid is not particularly good for us humans, whilst most flavourings are good to ingest, inhaling is another matter, like the following:

    Diacetyl, a flavour enhancer of the butter variety, used to be used in microwave popcorn, it actually caused a disease know as popcorn lung. Even people working in the factories where this was used caught this, a $7,000,000.00 was awarded just recently to a worker of one of these factories.

    Acetyl propionyl and Acetoin know commonly as Diketone have been known to cause cancer in some people. These particular flavour enhancers are used to develop the rich, creamy smooth flavour in desert ejuice, stuff like custards, etc. Nicoticket advertise that they use one or both of these flavour enhancers in there products and we must take our hats off to them for making all purchasers of there products aware of this, thus allowing themselves to make a conscious decision whether to go ahead with the purchase or not.

    In the end, all I want to know has there ever been a recorded death that has been proven beyond doubt to be directly caused by vaping? Just as an example of what I'm not after is, a person falling out of a two story window and having his Provari going through the middle of his forehead etc etc.

    Regards'

    Barge

    There have been a few instances of exploding batteries, probably due to misuse/user error. But I'm unaware of any fatalities linked to vaping. If there had been I'm sure we would have seen worldwide headlines.

    The only near death experiences I've heard of through the grapevine are those from angry spouses when a new shiny shows up in the mail.

    There have been three attempts to link vaping with deaths from 'lipoid pneumonia' in ex-smokers. The link is unlikely because:

    - Emphysema patients commonly develop pneumonia and die;
    - Lipoid pneumonia was not proven beyond doubt (full cell pathology was not provided and confirmed)
    - Irrefutable evidence was not provided that the cases involved lipoid pneumonia rather than regular pneumonia;
    - Inhalation of alcohols [1] cannot cause lipoid pneumonia as far as is known - indeed this would have been a world first, so we should have expected wide publicity in the medical press if this had been the case, with detailed cell pathology and case history/ies. None of this occurred.

    The only connection that can be found between vaping and lipoid pneumonia is that a doctor connected with the fatality at Gateshead, UK, said that the patient's bottle of e-liquid "looked oily". That's science for ya :)

    Smokers with advanced lung conditions such as emphysema / COPD stage 3 or 4 should not inhale anything further; if they wish to switch then Snus would be the best choice. If they have to vape, then VG-only is probably not the best choice, some PG in there seems a good idea in order to assist with elimination of pathogens (PG is one of the most powerful bactericides and virucides known, when dispersed as an aerosol, which is why it is used as the excipient in the nebulisers used by lung transplant patients).

    [1] PG (propylene glycol) and glycerine (more accurately, glycerol) are alcohols, as can be seen from the -ol suffix. They are not oils. Lipoid pneumonia is caused by inhalation of mineral or vegetable oils. Examples: paraffin - which is why it is also called 'paraffin lung', or fumes from ghee butter.

Lol - your thread title threw me a little.. this is simply someone ASKING if anyone has died from vaping.. the title suggested that someone DID die. or maybe thats just how I interpreted it..

I have emphysema and COPD and would get pneumonia about 3 times a year when I was smoking but since I have been vaping for almost 4 years I haven't had pneumonia once. Vaping saved my life and I will vape always. My health is so much better because of vaping.

Those flavor ingredients have been known about for a while now, alternatives have been developed. Even if an exploding battery did kill someone they wouldn't have died from vaping in all likelihood but rather from carelessly playing with high-powered electronic devices.

Good to hear , no doubt vaping saved my life as well .

Remember the point of this post was basically to show that what ECF was accused of by many on this website seems to be unfounded and is just sour grapes ( and i'm no ECF fan by any stretch) just like to be fair and honest .

I think your point is obvious to anyone with a decent amount of intelligence , i was also surprised with that answer by one of ECF's administrators , like "duh".
