Just realized once again that we are using food flavorings for DIY. Took some wine glasses, filled them with purified water and mixed a few drops of various flavors into each…

You know what? That's how I gonna roll with new flavor sampling from now on*.

:coffee2:

* Maybe with the exception of some tobacco flavors; not sure if I want to experience even a single sip of Latakia flavored water.

And while I would not do this myself, I do wish you well:cheers:

Still thinking that the sweet taste of PG would add to the end product

It is a good method to get the feel for a flavoring.
Saw a vid a couple of years ago where a guy was doing that.
This is a whole new level for me. Right now I'm drinking sweet tea with 7 drops of TPA Strawberry Ripe mixed in a cup, and I can taste everything that is wrong (for me) with this particular flavor. With a usual "flavored base in a dripper" routine it was not so pronounced. Time to switch to FA, I guess…
A manly man would :bomb:
Back in a pipe era I used to love smoking real latakia. But when it's cold and there's a condensate in the stem… Yeesh!

Why won't you do it yourself? These are the same flavorings that are used in just about everything…

They guy in the show actually mixed recipes for a quick taste try using the shot glass and water technique.
You could see how different flavors work together and approximate ratios.
Rinsing and rewicking is a pain for mixing...

Wait a minute here! Are you drinking that mix or vaping it with the water? Because some might think your vaping it.

Drinking. Sampling like a wine.
Guess that is a great way if you DIY. I always taste the store bought juice first with a drop on my finger.

I used to do it too, but that was just overwhelmingly concentrated. Almost instant vapers tongue guaranteed! :blech:

That reminds of what Nitro use to do when reviewing different juices in one video is take a wash cloth, and wipe his tongue in between flavor tasting.

Just tasting it. Like wine sampling.
And rinsing your palate between tastes with some tea or something.

Interesting! So, if I wanted to taste/ test 2% FA Vanilla Bourbon, I would use water as if it was VG/PG like this?
  • 1 ml FA Vanilla Bourbon
  • 49 ml Water

NO. What you're describing would probably paralyze your taste buds for quite a while. However, you could make a one-shot concentrate of your recipe and sample it by adding 1-2 drops to a cup of water.

This is what I've been doing lately:
  • I drink a lot of sweet tea every day. Same tea, same sugar, same water for many years. It's pretty easy for me to taste anything that is not "my tea".
  • Ever since the discovery of this method I've been adding a single drop of flavoring to each cup of tea, every time a different flavoring.
  • Some flavors are really enjoyable in a tea, others made me suffer…
  • But now I know exactly what each flavor in my arsenal tastes like.
  • Then I started adding one-shot concentrates to my tea. Same scheme, just a single drop per cup.
  • That allowed me to quickly figure out which flavors needed an adjustment, because I was able to identify them.

Gotcha. At best I could probably 'sample' two flavors in 1:1 or 1:2 ratios in a cup of water. Could prove to be a useful preview technique.
