VG is all I vape most of the day - literally: I vape straight VG, no flavor. I like the distinctive taste of glycerin.

When I experimented up to 75-80% VG, I felt it suppressed my flavors. I basically kinda felt my way (like most of us, I imagine)
to my preferred balance of flavor and throat hit. I settled in at 60% VG. I really think flavors play nicer with PG.

You get used to the flavors with only VG. Me, I can't do PG at all: it gives me tinnitus. That's why I started using only VG. At first, I thought all flavors had a kind of rancid butter aftertaste because of it. And then the aftertaste disappeared. It's the same process that make people hate Coke vs Pepsi (or vice versa) and then after drinking the other stuff long enough, they get used to it.

I slowly progressed into max VG, it wasnt a need as in your case but I just started noticing every time I bumped it up the smoother it got and the harshness I experience from PG was going away. I didnt know at the time thats what it was but after so long you start to learn what you like. with max VG Im never trying to figure out how to make my vapes smoother or sweeter they just are, yet things that are sour or bitter still taste sour or bitter and I personally with no facts to back me up but I disagree that PG has any more flavor than VG. PG may be a better carrier for flavor manufacturing but not necessarily a better carrier for the next step. if you take a teaspoon of the FOOD FLAVORING we use and put it in cake batter its going to taste like a flavor art fuji apple, or if you take a teaspoon of the same thing and put it in 300 degree sugar you will end up with flavor art fuji hard candy, same with water and drinks. I know because Ive done it. what does that prove ? nothing really other than the flavor taste great in many bases.
plus I get to skip an ingredient meaning a few less types of gallon jugs laying around

Ive been using VG from Essential Depot it does the job.
I know that VG is naturally on the sweet side, but is there a VG that is less sweet?

Glycerin is glycerin. It tastes of glycerin - nothing you can do about it :) But vape enough of it raw and over time it'll taste completely neutral to you.
