Any Double or Single Edged Brush and Blade Shavers Here?

Personally, they can keep the no doubt crap blades that are included.

I will be using either my Personna Med Prep or Feather blades.

With the upgraded shipping I chose, it is supposed to arrive in 9 to 12 days.

As always with shipments from China, it will arrive when it arrives and not sooner.

But I still get a kick watching the tracking info when it becomes available!

Okay, so shave number two is done. Now bear in mind my neck is sensitive and I have steel wool whiskers, so I need a one pass, across the grain, aggressive shave.

I opened this puppy up as far as it would go and it proved to be a much better shave. The angle was much more comfortable and I got a VERY DFS. One of the best. Smooth and irritation free.

With that said, I still find that because of the fact that I maintain a beard that has well manicured lines, the head it too damn big for me and the balance is way too top heavy. I choked up on it and that solved the balance issue, but maneuverability is still a huge con for me. Maybe a deal breaker.

I have a honeymoon coming up in October and this may wind up being my travel razor for the pure and simple fact that it was less than 8 bucks. If I lose it I won't be super upset.

For sensitive skin I would have thought #1....?

BTW, while I don't think of myself as having sensitive skin, from what you have said, we seem to have the same type of whiskers and I also need an across the grain pass.

One more thing, looking at the pic's, is there some special method to replacing the blade? Or do you just know by looking at it once I have it in my grubby little hands?

In my limited experience, I've noticed that if I use a sharp, smooth blade (for my particular face) with an aggressive blade gap, I can get a DFS in one pass. I think the irritation I get is a result of more contact with the blades (i.e. More passes)rather than physical expire of the blade in the razor. If I used less of a gap, I would have had to do multiple passes which means more irritation for my neck. I used it on setting 6 and it was excellent.

Regarding loading the blade, it comes with instructions so that was a nice touch. It loads like a TTO, but the top cap just pulls off instead of having doors that open. Use a towel when you put the cap back on after you've loaded your blade! I just imagine losing full fingers before I did it the first time haha!

Very curious that with sensitive skin you are getting a more comfortable shave at the max setting than a lower setting.

With my Gillette adjustable I get my best results at #5.

Once after I went a few days without shaving and tried #7 and it really irritated my skin.

I don't want to know what the #9 setting would do!

I have cleaned it and loaded a Feather Blade into it.

Well, I just finished my first shave with the Futur clone.

Pleasantly surprised that the grip was not as slippery as it looked to be.

Set it to #3 to start with and it did deliver a comfortable shave but I did kinda miss a couple of spots which I am going to blame on the heavy head and no experience with it.

Gonna set to to #4 tomorrow and see how that works out.

But for sure it is well worth the $6.62 I paid for it!.

Futur clone from Aliexpress for $6.59 with free shipping. Got to me in the East Coast in 9, count 'em, NINE days. Why doesn't my vape gear ever get here that fast?!

I'll give it go tonight and report my findings. So far the quality is outstanding for the money. Keep in mind I have no authentic with which to compare.

I was very hesitant to try it for the same reason. It was actually a very quick and easy transition. Keep in mind though, once you go slant you never go back!

No, a slant razor is a safety razor that either twists the blade so that the edge slants horizontally or the actual head of the razor is slanted. Modern slants don't really use the tilted head design. Most look like this:

The ones that twist the blade add a stiffness to the blade bc of the extra torque applied to it. That coupled with the cutting efficiency of the slant design (imagine a guillotine) makes for a very efficient shave.

A Cut Throat Razor is normally a straight edged razor or a version of said that you use half of a DE blade in which you change as needed.

Yesterday, I decided to try the #6 setting on the Futur Clone instead of my standard #5 setting.

Bad decision on my part.

Right off the blade caught a small Zit that I had not noticed on my upper cheek and promptly removed the sucker and had to be treated by sticking a wad of TP on it.

And while it did, in the end, deliver a BBS shave, it also delivered more nicks and scratches than I received from my very first attempt at using a DE razor about 3 years ago.

So today (and most likely tomorrow as well) I will not be shaving in order to give my face and neck time to heal.

Woof. Been there brother! I only shave every two or three days because I've found that if my whiskers are longer I get a smoother, less garage shave. Sure, I don't look all shiny and sexy by the third day but my face thanks me for it.

So I picked up some Snakebite soap by Fine Accoutrements from Amazon for $10 or so. This stuff is no joke! My fave felt FROZEN during and after my shave... it was amazing.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants a more intense Proraso-type experience. The scent is straight menthol so be warned!

A while back, I purchased this item as a closeout special from Rivers Edge Cutlery in Columbus, Ohio. While their prime focus is on knives, they have an awesome shaving department.

And can also be found here. Seach Amazon for Stephans Stay Smooth Conditioning Shave Cream [16 oz.]

While I CANNOT recommend it as a stand alone shaving cream, I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND it as a pre shave product and a post shave balm.

For post shave, I will add a couple of drops of cologne into my palm, then a dime sized dollop of the cream then mix together and rub into my face and neck.

Great stuff and now a permanent part of my "Shave Den".

I understand what you are saying 100%!!!

Gotta Beard of my own and like you said, the oversized "Head" can be a problem.

That being said, if while you are shaving, you pay attention to the "Feel" of the blade and not the head itself, with a wee bit of practice you can shave a beard with an amazing amount of accuracy.

If you miss a bit. wait a week or so for the said beard to grow back and try again.

I have both the paa bakelite and the German 37. The German 37 is much more forgiving regarding blade choice. I use a Rockwell 6s with Gillette Silver Blue blades almost exclusively. Sometimes I will alternate the 37 and the Rockwell every day using the same blade. The last time I did that I got 15 days from one blade, which is the most ever from one blade.

My Missus got some fantastic Bay Rum, all natural, not synthetic like most of em out there. Ogalla Bay Rum. It has natural Bay oil, plus others and Witch Hazel and Alcohol. The fragrance lasts a long time, 5 hours +. You have to shake up the bottle before use to get the oils in suspension. Best Bay Rum I have tried thus far.

I used the #6 setting on my Futur after being up at the cabin for 2 weeks with no razor. Used Proraso Preshave followed by Cella lather. It shaved just as close as one of my Straight Razors, it was quite aggressive, the only time I will use that setting is if I have more than a weeks worth of growth. My Merkur Slant is pretty much equal to #6 setting on the Futur for aggressive blade presentation.
