Forgive me if this has been addressed before... I'm wondering how the AL85 & Pico stack up head to head. Tanks aside, just wanting to know about the mods themselves. Not concerned so much about temp control, really just wondering about the unit itself.
I'm a seasoned vaper with a collection of everything but nothing beats my Picos for stealth & portable, I have a few of them around the house and in the car always ready to go.
I've been thinking of checking out the AL85 since it's release but I don't have anywhere local to hold one in person...so I'm hoping for your guidance. I'm mainly wondering if it feels cheap-ish like the full size Alien, if the threading for the cap is solid, if there are any issues with the finish, and how the battery life is compared to the Pico.
Cheers

I wanna follow this. I'm a Pico fan, myself, but I'm seeing a bit more chatter on the AL85. Thanks for starting this. :)

Cheers, funny because I was THIS close to finally pulling the trigger on one just as the new Pico colors were unveiled.
Black brushed steel... Sexy little fella!

Yeah, I want one each of the black/bronze and the white/bronze. I am curious about the AL 85 as well, though.

I'm a fan of the SMOK stuff. The alien 85 (baby alien) is really cool. Gave one to my son to use and he likes it. Have one of my own but haven't started using it. Been using the SMOK Skyhook RDTA. Really liking that one ! The alien 85 is really tiny and it seems to work well.

I have an AL85 landing tomorrow. The biggest issue for me on the Pico (and I have a few of them, nice small mods) is the tank limitation. That ability of the AL85 to take a 25 mm tank is what works for me. I already have an Alien I'm quite happy with, so I'm expecting similar performance with this one.

I love my pico...... the only issue I have with it is it limits you to 22mm atties.. some have run 23mm.. Problem is all the new stuff is getting huge starting at 24mm...
But then I expected that would happen. When juice makers started wanting to make money.

Big atties and big watts equals lots of juice and Nic sales.......
Should keep the tobacco industry happy as we stop smiking.

I love my Pico also, for all the reasons already mentioned. However as mentioned it does limit you to 22 / 23 mm. I have always wondered if the AL85 would have the same issue, from what I see it does not. I will put the AL85 back on my list of mods I want next. Thanks and great question.

Best thing about my Pico is how well it does TC with SS316L so the AL-85 would have big shoes to fill for me. I've been seeing posts (may be true or not) about the alien not doing SS316L very well.

Not to change subject but when using TC on my Pico it seems inconsistent. I also am using 316L 26G. I am sure it is a user error with me being new to TC and building. I haven't tried TC on my Alien but maybe I should before putting the AL85 back on the list. That is a very good point.

I think TC regulation in general is inconsistent.... I also accept it could just be me......

Good thing is VW mode is there for use when TC doesn't do it.

FWIW I am running Arcticfox firmware on the pico... this has allowed me to use a power curves that gives me almost the vape I would expect from TC while vaping. In wattage modes. I run 3 VW profiles .. Standard, preheated and curved output and 3 TC modes. Std TC. TCR AND TFR. Have the Ni and Ti modes setup but deactivated. Because I do have Ni and Ti coils I might run. I also deactivated the smart function. Got tired of being asked if the coil was new after chain vaping.

I'd like to see someone compare the pico 25 with the al85... I've looked and haven't seen much -- I think that would be a natural comparison, no?

As mentioned above the biggest advantage the Pico has is that it can take arctic fox firmware.
