Promising but skeptical considering who published it. Also, the "The second paper also reports virtually no nicotine in the exhaled e-cig aerosol." makes me question the integrity of the study. When I vape inside with people who don't smoke but don't mind, they will get a nic buzz.

Not very valuable IMO, as the link says they appear to have custom-designed to study to make good outcomes more likely. That being said, the fact that cigarettes did produce negative effects in this study while e-cigs did not is promising.

Ultimately I'm waiting for Dr. Farsalino's study results and then for those results to be confirmed by other researchers without potential conflicts of interest.

Agreed.
When big tobacco sides with vaping, I believe the depth of their pockets may help with developing public policy. At least they are priming the PR pump.

Big Tobacco would sell their Mother if they could find her. They could care less if you die. Make as much as you can as fast as you can. The people in it are beyond belief wealthy. Let's just say I have been there, done that. Vaping is my choice what gets me pissed is when a group of mental giants meet with crap reporters and they sling shit at Vaping. It falls apart, but they never seem to get tired of it.

probably not, their mind is playing tricks on them....people tend to over think things they don't know about.

A tobacco company would never publish anything that promotes a competitors product. Soooo, lorilard must be getting into the vaping business. This is a really bad thing, since big tobacco (future big vapor) will promote their products as safe, then demonize all liquids, atomizers, and businesses that do not fall under their profit umbrella.

When this happens, they will fund national legislation to destroy all form of competition, except the other tobacco companies products (since they are all in cahoots with eachother).

Unlikely. The Drexel study showed negligible nic in exhaled vapor - http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...ettes-pose-minimal-health-risk-218843731.html

Lorillard owns blu ecigs already since 2012, though through the merger with RJ Reynolds announced in July 2014, blu is/was to be sold to Imperial Tobacco. Altria, the parent company of Phillip Morris, owns NuMark, which owns MarkTen ecigs. Big Tobacco has been in this ecig/vaping game for several years now already, getting their ducks in a row I would say.
I do totally agree with you, that their goal is to push to legislation that their products are superior, thus eliminating competition. I had also read somewhere that they are actively lobbying for ecigs to be tightly controlled and taxed just like analogs because they are already familiar with dealing with said regulations. Their goal here is to make it too hard for these little companies to survive, and also eliminating any vape shops in the process. Not sure if the regulations can be broad enough to eliminate manufacture or sale of devices though, I think it will just make it hard to get the nicotine. However, without the nicotine offering, it's going to be harder to get people to switch from analogs to vaping.
Furthermore, notice how these companies always refer to these things as ECIGS or ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES? Why do they not call them what they are, a vaporizer? This, in my opinion, is also done to help their lobbying/fight for legislature. I always refer to vaping as vaping and not electronic smoking or electronic cigarette or ecig. We need to make sure we as a community disassociate with the term cigarette, however, the B&M's fail at this, as they always have "ECIG" or "ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES" plastered on their signs/buildings/windows/advertisements. If future legislation comes down on it, I feel as though a lot of these B&M's are part of the cause because they constantly associate themselves with cigarettes...whether they really mean to or not. I've had this same discussion with one of my local B&M owners. She also has these cigarette terms in bright letters in her windows and signage on the road. She fears legislation that will hurt her business, but yet fails to see my point that we need to, as a community, disassociate from that "cigarette" term.

I think many people associate the term 'vaporizer' with ***, and probably steer clear of that term for obvious reasons. There are myriad ways to get the point across though.

I knew blu was owned by a huge tobacco company, but I did no it was this one. So, their findings make alot of sense.

There was no way that blu cigs could be in every gas station in two years time without serious money and lobbying. It went from new, to mainstream really fast. The shame is, it was done for money, not to save people from cigarettes. There is a clear niche where vapor products are concerned, but can only be 'tobacco profitable' when the competition is crushed.

Same is true with MarkTen... it's everywhere and it's a brand new product. Obviously because Altria allowed NuMark to use Phillip Morris' sales channels/connections.

We knew that they were safe all along. I got bored and did some calculations. With the vg, pg, Nic, & flavors I have on hand I will not run out till I reach 317 years old. By then they may have some test results to prove what We all know now.

In actuality , nobody knows what the long term effects of ecig smoking is , it's just all speculation until many many more years go by , it's just way to new to make any conclusions.

I don't think there's any question that it's better than tobacco but is it completely harmless over the long term , we won't know that for a long time to come.

The only 'wild card' in determining safety is the flavourings (that and your supplier)

I DIY since I trust labs for quality control, and not random internet/local businesses

PG VG Nic are heavily studied, and as long as there isn't any chem breakdown, things are cool :D

If the flavoring manufacturers would be trust worthy about whats in their flavorings it would help .

For the most part that has proven NOT to be the case . Somewhere on here there is a great thread about flavoring manufacturers claims of not having the bad stuff in their flavorings but after being tested by independent labs it turned out many were not being honest .

There are still studies going on about the effects of vaping at super high wattages compared to lower wattages and the long term effects if any won't be known by anybody for some time to come.

Anyone that says they know with certainty is full of shit.

TFA has full MSDS sheets for each flavouring. Even with some organic chem knowledge and Google, it's hard to be confident of much. Since heat initiates all sorts of reactions.

As for high wattage, it's all for sub-ohm builds. Takes more power to raise the coil temp to where it needs for vapour production. You rarely, if ever, want to overvolt/amp any build (sub ohm or just a reg prebuilt tank atty). All you do is burn the wick, juice, battery and lungs "P

You raise a good point. I hate the term ecig, but if I sat vaporizer all the stoners' run over and ask if I can get oil. I know we use the terms PV and APV, but P.E.N.I.S I'd almost looking like a option because the terms all get lost in transitions to people who don't have a clue

Very true. Vaporizer word has been used for 15 years by THC crowd. Even had that assumption at my hospital when asking about vaping policy

To make it worse .. they even sell electronic single hitter vaps now (dry herb) that look just like some mech mods

Ah well ..

This whole question bothers me. I lost a child in April and my wife is pregnant again. I hope there is no nicotine in the vapor I exhale, and if so, I think vaping SHOULD be banned indoors. I have been vaping inside and I do not want to jeopardize the health of my wife or my unborn child.
She quit smoking but I was not strong enough to do the same. I have been without a cigarette for nearly 5 weeks now, vaping exclusively, so I hope this is the case.

Well Nicotine is classed as an insecticide. I blew huge rolling clouds over a small spider and it went on it's merry way.

There will be some Nic in vapour, but the droplet size, absorption rate, and time it stays suspended in the air are all wildly different than smoke particles.

It certainly is potent taken internally though :p
