Alien al85 recommended coils?

I'm new to vaping and after a week of research on different mods I chose the alien al85. I plan on using it every day and stop smoking. I've read that the coils for the baby beast tank usually last only a week or two and this will be quite expensive replacing coils that often ...are there any coils that have a higher amp (like 1.2 amp) from different tanks like the melo 3 that will fit the baby beast and will they last longer than the smok coils?

Also, can you put a melo 3 tank on an alien mod and would I be better off doing so? I would really appreciate if you could recommend any cheap tanks or coils that will work in them or even just tell me your past experiences with them

Using Melo 3 coils in the Baby Beast, flat out no. Smok uses proprietary heads for Smok brand tanks, you might find a 3rd party tank that uses Melo 3 coil heads, but that is about it.

Melo 3 paired to the AL85, no problem, as the AL85 uses the very common 510 threading connection, so will work with about 85 to 95% of the tanks out there. Being variable wattage it will accomidate just about most tank wattage ranges 85watts and under.

Be cautious, being a single battery mod, 85watts max is really skirting safety amp battery input limits

20amp CDR batteries you are looking at max 60watts <- Most common, higher Mah (runtime)
25amp CDR batteries you are looking at max 70 to 75watts <- Middle ground of plenty of runtime and plenty of CDR
30amp CDR batteries you are looking at max 85 to 90watts <- Only 3 on the market that will do 30amps, the LG HB2, HB4, and HB6 1500mah, sacrifice of runtime to achieve power output. Don't trust any battery that says they can do 35 or 40amps plus, it is a lie using the short 1/2 second Pulse Discharge Rating (PDR) of the battery as an advertisement, not the Continuous Discharge Rating (CDR) which the battery can sustain the entire discharge of the battery. Sony, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic/Sanyo are the big 4 source manufacturers out on the market for 18650 batteries, any other name is generally a re-wrap and either a B or C bin discard the Big 4 said didn't pass their A Bin standard Muster, or they are a clone.

Suggested Batteries by category
20amp - Samsung 30Q 3000mah (though rated 15amps by Samsung, independent testing shows them as true 20amp)
25amp - Sony VTC5A 2500mah (take note of the "A", as it is a newer version of the VTC5 2600mah 20amp and is very popular atm)
30amp - The LG HB Series Listed above.

With an 85w mod, I would try x4 coils in baby beast. Performs well at 45-50w, lasts longer than preinstalled q2 coils, good flavor, and it is a little restrictive on the airflow, good for quitting the smokes.

As cheap as dual 18650 mods are now, I would consider one for the baby beast. Battery life and enough power for the T6 and T8 coils.

If al85 is chosen but not yet purchased, I would look at Smoant Charon or Battlestar. The newer Sigelei mods like the Duo or Kaos are not bad if price is right. Alien and Predator have had some reliability issues.

I am new to Sony VTC5A, and so far I've been impressed. As mentioned above, go with a good vendor, avoid chance of clones.

The AL85 is my out-and-about mod when using tanks. I agree with @mikeyboy74 regarding the X4. It's the only coil I use in my Baby and Big Baby Beast tanks. I vape high VG juice but as long as I stay below 50W, my coils last more than 2 weeks. Longevity depends on how and what you vape.

I have an AL85 that I use almost everyday. I have 2 Battlestars that I do use everyday. If you are only going to get only one mod, get the Battlestar.
