I vape using a Kangertech Kbox mini and Toptank Mini. I have never used the stock coils, instead opting for the RBA deck. I use 28g kanthal wrapped around 3/32nd drill bit. I'm a creature of habit and always use 5 wraps, no spaces. This always creates a coil of roughly .75-.85 ohms.
This morning, I wrapped a coil that was spaced more than usual. I screwed it down, read at .81, and dry fired it so get it hot and pressed it together to get rid of the spaces. I accidentally pressed the fire button while my tweezer was on the coil. It basically melted at the leads. Oh well, wrap a new one.
I wrapped the new coil using one of the long legs I snipped from the first coil. Same thing, 5 wraps. I'm not sure where my head was, but I installed the coil upside down (for me). I usually install with the coil above the legs. This time, the legs were on top. I didn't think it would make a difference, but when I read the resistance, it was .54 ohm. Double checked it on the ohm meter just to make sure I hadn't screwed up my mod, but it read the same.
I don't understand how I'm getting such a low resistance. I started with a short length of wire ~5in and installed it differently but in my understanding of resistance, that shouldn't matter....
As a side note, the flavor and vapor are incredible, but my juice is a 6mg so it's a little harsh at a .54. Any thoughts on how a coil that should read .8 is reading .5? Thanks in advance!
