so with this mod positive end goes down so switch can vent if need be, we'll I've noticed if I run it that way I get shocked pretty bad all over the mod but if I run it positive up no issues.... wtf is up with that :/?

most mods are positive up. sounds like the tube is being used as a ground and the circuit is allowing positive current to flow thur the mod. in short i think your mod is a positive up mod.

Where does it tel you to put the battery in upside down?

lol not sure, just assumed it since the button and switch has a big hope for venting but after blowing through it with a battery installed it still has air flow so I guess it's positive up.

Should really make no difference in a tube mech.
Clean your switch assembly?

Do you understand 'difference of potential'?
Umm yeah and you have exactly the same difference of potential no matter which way you have the battery in there.
A 40+ year Electronics technician.

It is a closed loop DC circuit and you have exactly the same difference in potential no matter which way the battery is.

In a closed loop DC circuit positive and negative may flip around but that makes no difference. Positive will not shock you any more than negative. It is the current between the 2 that shocks you and it makes no difference if it goes one way or the other the result is the same.

I'm talking about the difference between the battery terminals and the hand getting shocked. And there is absolutely a difference between the location of the terminals, the load, the hand holding the tube and the difference of potentials that exist between all of it with the battery one way or the other. If there wasn't, turning the battery around wouldn't affect whether or not you get shocked.

Try again. I'm an electronics tech too mouth. Turning the batt around changes the potential of the tube in relation to the hand.

A battery has votltage potential from it's negative terminal to it's positive terminal. PERIOD.
It does not matter which way you turn it you only change the polarity not the voltage potential. Period.
And the only way one could shock you is pass current from negative to positive or visa versa thru your body. Period.
And no matter which way the current passes thru you the shock effect is identical. Period.
Since a mechanical Tube mod has no components to effect the voltage of the battery it would not matter which way the battery was placed in it as to any shock potential. Period.

I am done here. Period :)

Haha. Sure thing pal. The positive and negative side of the load are the same electrically. Uh-huh. Goodbye.

Your reading comprehension needs improvement.
Apparently you think that having the tube on a mod be positive is more likely to shock you than if it is negative?
You fail to understand some electrical/electronics fundamentals.

So now the battery being one way or the other changes whether the tube is positive or negative? I thought it didn't matter? You're a clown. Enjoy.

Ahh but a clown that does know what he is talking about.
I am not convinced that you are an electronics tech.
I would not want you working on my stuff.

How many batteries does your mod have? I can hold both ends of a 4.2v fully charged battery with my fingers and not even close to enough current to get shocked.

Yeah most people cannot even feel 4.2 volts unless on very sensitive skin.
I can put my fingers accross the terminals on 9 volt battery and not feel it.

Lol of course. Hasn't everyone?
I would not apply it to sensitive private parts either. :blech:

Then of course there is the charge the capacitor and play catch with someone thing.

I started in electronics in the vacuum tube age when anything but a flashlight would shoc you.
I think so. haven't done it since i was a kid though lol

I guess you're imagining things op. And there is no difference between the effects of a positive or negative contacting something else. They both do the same thing. :giggle:

so not only was it shocking me but also throwing sparks at the switch. what had happened is the brass button had arc marks and crud polished it up really well and bam working like a beast no more shocks.
