Well, here in Florida I am looking at the string possibilities of being without power and subsequently without vape. Ugh! First world problems I guess!

Get yourself a cell phone charger or like: will totally charge mods :) There are also some amazing inverters you can plug into your car (if it's not underwater, lol)Screen Shot 2017-09-09 at 7.33.14 AM.png

Kind of too late now, and the prices of all those items have been jacked up a 1000% and may be sold out already locally anyway.

For times without power my charger had a 12 Volt adapter and a Universal battery pack is something to have on hand before a storm. Sorry it might not help now but maybe for the future.

I do have power supply chargers but I can't justify using them for anything but my cell phones. Priorities and all lol

Guess my priorities are warped, lol

Would totally put vaping before a cell phone - and I live in an area with all kinds of natural disasters and extreme weather

But we are used to it and prepared for all manner of BS to hit at any time with full knowledge that "help" could take a week or more to arrive

I have to agree with the priorities but when Sandy womped us years ago the Cell towers were mostly down and also the Internet. So I was charging he Vape and the cell while driving looking for a working cell tower and fuel.

Would suggest solar but that's out... wind/water mill and car generator come to mind.... not sure how to connect to vape.... but I did see some youtube vids where they used them for off grid living.

Since we here in the Houston area just had to deal with similar, though not as bid of a storm, what I did was pick one device and charged up all of my batteries. The only good thing about hurricanes is that most times you have days to prepare.

Also another reason to have MOD's with built in batteries as back ups and some low power devices which charge fast. Any USB Port in a storm!

Likewise! Keeping myself from smoking is the #1 priority, because you can't just drop it like a rock, it gets its claws in, fast and deep. Phone calls can FUCKING WAIT.

Frankly, after having lived through some pretty big natural disasters (floods are very common in my neck of the woods) I've learned that being prepared to take care of yourself trumps being able to call for help - which may not be available or available to reach you in a timely fashion

While communication is important, being able to take care of your own needs when electricity, landlines and road travel are not available is the number one thing

Yes, I have lived this out in real life situations here in Alaska, no power at -35 degrees, floods, over ten feet of snow falling in a few days, avalanches, 100mph-plus winds, ice storms - heck, three years ago a huge avalanche damned the river and the only highway out of town only four miles up from my house, and we flooded out (four feet of water) in 2006.

Three miles down from my house is a grove of dead trees still standing from the tsunami that wiped the town out in 1964 - 11 miles from the ocean

Another problem I see here on the forum after disasters is people claiming to have lost all their vape gear after leaving it in the basement and can some generous soul help them out?

WTF? Don't put anything valuable in the basement unless you can take it with you to avoid a tornado, don't leave it down there if there is a flood likely or even potential

I just can't fathom someone evacuating, and not taking as much of their vape gear with them as they can grab and shove in a grocery bag if nothing else. Or maybe those are just people looking for a convenient excuse to go back to smoking? "Oh, it's a hurricane, guess I'll smoke." "Oh, it's a wildfire, guess I'll join the party and smoke too." "Oh, I have a hangnail, guess I'll just smoke." "Oh, someone I love died, guess I'll smoke and try to join them quicker.":facepalm:

Maybe it's just the difference between people who really mean to stay smoke-free, and those for whom vaping is just a fad, a "hobby," not a means of actually improving and potentially lengthening their lives.

And in this particular scenario, I can actually understand the indignation of those vapers who try to discourage non-smokers from vaping; if you aren't a smoker who desperately needs to find a way of not smoking, then vaping is just a party-trick, and if you're one of those and can't vape for a few days because there's this gi-normous historic monster of a hurricane, "Oh well." If you're a former smoker who depends on vaping to keep you from smoking, then I bet you take your vape gear with you, and you probably prioritize charging your vape batteries ahead of a damn stupid phone.

If you ARE a vaper who depends on vaping to stay smoke-free, and you still prioritize your phone over your vape gear... you need to reassess your priorities.

I have a little go bag that goes with me when I go out.
In it is an extra vape setup, 2 batteries, Extra squonk atty and enough juice for a week. And my vehicle always has charger adapter and cable in it.Extra Extra built RBA and Squonk atty is ready for action as well. And a ziplock with a couple of vaper towells in it.
And of course my Kindle.
in the winter an extra set of vape stuff stays in my vehicle.

Staying smoke free.
Strangest thing was taking a break from building on a wheelchair ramp and wanted a cig!
After 2.5 years cig free, but if I had had one handy I would likely have smoked it....

Damn strange human brainz....

Sadly I live in a rural area that is serviced by South Central Power and I firmly believe that the local power grid dates back to the bronze age.

Power goes out for at least a couple of minutes every week. Or more.

If we get a big winter storm, I have been without power up to 6 days (I make the Mrs get a hotel room and I stay here with my emergency supplies to keep an eye on the place).

Keeping that in mind, I have about a dozen batteries that I keep in constant rotation.

As well as kerosene heaters and lamps, I also have a couple of large battery packs that are kept on a constant charge that delivers enough AC voltage to plug a lamp into. They will also allow me to charge my batteries.

And since I have a couple of Xtar Chargers that come with an automotive adapter, I can charge them on my car battery.

What can I say? I used to be a Boy Scout.

isn't vaping a good reason to buy a generator?
At least a little one?
I've definitely thought about talking to the bf about getting one. Have a wood stove for heat, but electric everything else.

If you rally want emergency backup get about a 6,000 watt or a bit larger one.
will run your fridge, some lights, TV and a microwave and 18650 charger.
What else does one need?

Well, decades-old habits like to reassert themselves sometimes

Had a similar experience last week - was going through a bunch of old stored belongings and decided to take a break. For some reason my brain told my hand to go into the top drawer of the nightstand and grab a smoke - which I did and for a nano-second was shocked to see all this vape stuff and no cigarettes or lighter, lol

Glad I finally tossed my security-blankey pack a few months ago...

If I really wanted a smoke, my Mr still puffs away, but fortunately (so far) I have some grip on those random cravings that come out of nowhere

If it's really bad, I have a little WTA tucked away, and also a supply of NETs

Yep, got my emergency WTA here. And the open last pk of smokes is still in the freezer in a ziplock, behind the nicotine. Just the thought of 3 yr old freezer-burnt tobacco is sufficient to curb any craving. :D

They'd better hurry - it is my understanding a wet tobacco crop is like wet cotton....
Yep.
I hope they quit cutting it for now and are just focusing on getting it hung in the barns for drying.

Because from the look of things we will get days of rain starting about Tuesday fro the remenants of a stalled hurricane.
Why I need to get the wheelchair ramp finished and sealed in some paint.

Anyone who still keep cigarettes around can't be considered a true Non-Smoker IMHO. I mean really still keeping them around while trying to educate people about vaping? Really?

Wheelchair ramp is up and primed.
Still need to add guard/hand rails on one side though.

I'm here in FL, as well. I charged up all my batteries before the storm. Now as I have the opportunity, I will charge via USB in my car (even if the battery isn't all the way low). My goal will be to keep my batteries as charged as possible at all times.

Also, if you get desperate you can go sit in a hospital and use their outlets. They are first priority in getting power back.

Hell, try the old kite and key trick! After all, it is a storm just an enormously catastrophic one. That ought to charge your mod up!!
