Battery Recommendations

I am a smoker looking to quit after spending too much of my life, health and money doing that.

The only experience I had with electronic cigarettes is with NJOY King. Although they were nice, they didn't pull very hard and were far more expensive than even traditional cigarettes. This is why I am trying to switch to a full vaping box mod bypassing sticks altogether.

Even though it isn't recommended for vaping newbies, I have my eyes on the Smoktech GX2/4 because I love the modularity of a portable dual mode and a battery enduring quad mode for home use in one mod.

I can't decide what batteries to buy. My husband is a trucker/mechanic who uses 18650 battery flashlights so we already have a Nitecore D4 Digicharger. I am aware that ICR batteries for high power flashlights are designed for capacity and are unsuitable for vaping so I'll have to buy and marry IMR batteries.

I read both Mooch's articles on battery tests as well as Anthony Vape's test on this specific (GX 2/4) mod yet I still cannot decide which batteries are best for dual mode and which ones for quad mode. I am guessing Sony VTC5A would be a safe bet in case of accidental max wattage (350/220) with the lowest resistance coils in both modes but those are rather expensive batteries. This is why I need to know if 30A is necessary for accidental maximum power draw or is 22A or even 20A fine?

I would also like to know if the TFV12 Beast tanks work in either battery mode, four battery mode only or neither battery mode?

Which e-juices have the most nicotine per milliliter? I need recommendations on this since I am a fairly heavy smoker who would like to start out by vaping in a low watt, small puff, cigarette emulating manner at first before I get more adventurous with this mod .

I have the GX2/4 and love it. I keep it in 4 battery mode exclusively and get amazing battery life. As far as batteries go, I use LG HG2s in it.

I have my TFV12 on top and it works great. It will work in both dual and quad battery modes.

Nice to see here and wana make the switch. I have the gx2/4 also thats never seen the 2 batt side. I have 4 imren 40 amp 3200 mha. Bought them for like 10$ a pair i think. its been awail now. tfv12 works in both modes with any of the coils.

The 3000mAh is nice but does the MFR 20A Mooch 18A hold up against 350W/220W TC ultra low resistance vaping? I don't intend on actually vaping anywhere near that because my lungs and heart would probably give out if the batteries didn't but just in case it was accidentally set to maximum power with the lowest possible coil resistance this mod is rated for.

I'm glad to see people own and love this mod due to the relative lack of apparent threads about it on this site or anywhere else.

No such 18650 battery actually gets that performance. Mooch's tests claim only 17A for the old and 10A for the new with those Imren batteries.

I am reluctant to buy batteries that false advertise or even batteries that test subtantially lower than MFR. I will stick to primary MFRs like Sony, LG, Panasonic/Sanyo, and Samsung. I just don't feel very confident messing with even re-wraps that test as accurate as they label let alone those that are far off.

Would you happen to know anything about e-liquid nicotine levels?

Thats max or size idk. And do.140 ohm for min. for them otherwise they do 10 -12 amp continuous dis charge. I have a couple pairs of lg hg4 that do pretty good to. Nic levels. 0,1.5,3,6,8,10,12,16 depends on brand and what not. Was that what you were meaning by levels?

Max as in Amp load ( mod watts ÷ coil resistance). I thought a TC coil has .06 Ohm resistance but too lazy to check which coil has the lowest rating that Smok accepts for this mod.

So ejuice has nicotine liquid numbers and 16 is the most?

Wattage mode is .1 ohms
Temp. Control is .06 ohms
Is the lowest ohm smok gx2/4 reads. In order for tc mode it needs to be stainless steel, titanium, nickel. Plain tfv12 coils are not tc and probly wont work in tc mode.as for batt again idk the fancy way to figure it out. i go by temp of the batt when running. I have the imren in my smok alien mod running 155 watts and they dont get hot. Warm but not hot. And even if you did accidentally bump it to max and hit it the mod will tell you the batts cant do it if they cant do it safely. no you can get 36 mg if you want. The numbers are % of nic per ml of juice. I couldnt vape anything higher then 6 mg in sub ohm cuz of the throat burn. Others can do 12 mg or more. Its personal preference on that one. 12-36 mg is a pack a day or more.

You are smoker, right? Do you know what is the difference between MTL and DL ?
I suggest you first go to MTL atomizers and check if its in your style or not. Newbees using DL atomizers like TFV-x from smok will get cough and hard hit in throat if nic level is high.
Friendly advice, try Vandy vape MTL atomizer and then switch to any other DL one per your choice

I was going to say the same about the nic level. If using the tfv12 a high level of nicotine is going to hurt your throat and that will keep you from vaping it. A good mtl tank would be a better start as stated above.

Hey everyone im new to the forum, not trying to hijack this thread, just didnt see the need to create a new topic. been vaping for 3 months now and recently bought a sigelei kaos spectrum. now the user manual says use 18650 40a high drain batteries from lg,sony or samsung. my vape store gave me lg hg2 3000mha 3.7v 20a batteries are these gonna work or do i need to buy and where to buy 40a. (i use the clieto exo tank with .4 ohm kanthal at 40w)

I suggest you first go to MTL atomizers and check if its in your style or not. Newbees using DL atomizers like TFV-x from smok will get cough and hard hit in throat if nic level is high.

No, the 20 amp batteries will work great in your mod.
They are a good choice.

40 Amp batteries don't exist in the 18650 form factor. Only a few major manufacturers like Sony, LG, Samsung, Panasonic/Sanyo make batteries. Every other company either relabels those primary makers as their own or they are counterfeit.

Mooch is the defacto battery expert for this site. He has a chart of manufacturer ratings versus his tests linked below.

Smok Spiral is MTL tank. Vandy vape Berserker is RTA. Having high ohm coil in TFV4 doesn't mean you have MTL tank. A MTL tank mainly works in its air-flow design.

True on high ohm ≠ MTL. This is part of the description from the Micro TFV4 link which is why I added it to my last post wondering if the description below makes good MTL:

The Micro TFV4 has four adjustable air slots on the top and bottom in order to provide the user with optimum customization when it comes to airflow. This patented design allows for massive airflow with every vape. If you’re a fan of less airflow, you can close off the top four air slots to provide a tighter pull.

The MTL Facebook group had a poll on favorite MTL tanks. The Kayfuns we're the preferred especially the Mini V3 but they are too expensive and small (2ml) so I'll look for more information on the Digiflavor Siren that finished in 2nd place voting.

Thanks again for your input. Anymore on this most would be also be appreciated as I have no idea what makes a good MTL.
