RASPBERRY GLAZED DONUT RECIPIE NOT WORKING

Hi, so I followed this recipe
--
http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/645738/Loaded Donuts (by VaporAlchemist)
--

I steeped for 4 days, and I could taste the cake-y or batter like taste to donuts, with the hint of the frost/glaze taste. But could not taste any of the raspberry that I added.

I added Raspberry CAP 1% and Sweet Raspberry TFA 2% but I cannot taste it? Do you think I need to let it steep longer, or add more percentage? I kind of want a sweet dough-ey raspberry taste, with the hint of vanilla.

Any suggestions of percentages?

If I was using the CAP, I'd be at more like 3%-4%.
For TFA Raspberry Sweet, I'd be around 3%.

If you're looking for stronger raspberry flavors that will help keep your overall flavor percentage in check, look into INW & FA.

The Cap raspberry is too weak to work at that level. I love raspberry, but FA is the best by far. Similar to what @Howard Hughes suggested, I'd switch out cap for FA. The flavors should be closer to around 3% TFA raspberry sweet and ~1% FA raspberry. Side note; I'd drop the sweetener in favor of ~.5% FA marshmallow, but that's just an opinion.
BTW, that looks good, but it looks like a serious coil gunker :headbang:

Is that a general rule for all CAP flavours - to use it at around 5% and work upwards from those flavours? Out of INW and FA, which one is better?

Thanks for this - is INW a better one for the raspberry or should i stick to TFA? And yeah I think you're right with the marshmallow. I do love my ejuices really sugary sweet though!

I haven't tried INW sweet raspberry, I prefer regular raspberry as a base, and add what I need from there. As for Cap flavors, it isn't a Master Rule, it's more like guidelines. Though some of their flavors even rival FA for their strength, it's all about one person's tastes. Some people think FA forest fruit is pretty weak, I find it pretty average, others find it overwhelming. There is no exact right percentage.

P.S The marshmallow will only add sweetness while being slightly less of a gunker, as opposed to actual sugar.

I like both INW and FA. I find FA is more of a true fruit flavour and not so sweet and INW is more of a candy sweet. As stated above both are much stronger. I have a couple of recipies which use just .5% INW and it's the dominant flavour.

Nope, not really a general rule regarding all flavors, just my take on those two.
The INW & FA are just stronger with the raspberries. Both the FA & INW are good, and yes, as bobnat said, the INW is very potent & should be kept at 1% or under. His suggestion of .5% as a starting point is right on.

You could also try 1% FA Raspberry with 0.5% FA Blackcurrant. The Blackcurrant gives the raspberry a jam like consistency. Also FA Meringue really helps the fruit pop at 1%, or you could go 0.5% FA Marshmallow as Hillbilly suggested. Finally, 4 days isn't near long enough to make a final judgement in my opinion. Give it a few weeks before you are truly convinced. It takes time for the creams to smooth and mellow out.

My way would be to 86 the CAP and TFA and replace with 2% INW Shisha Raspberry, boosted with 0.25-0.50% INW Raspberry (Koncentrate). IMHO, that CAP will give you nothing until it gives you cough medicine.

Update, its probably been about 1 week and a half to two weeks. I added a little bit more if raspberry (FA) about three days a go. and now the ejuice is pretty bland. Should I start again, or just add more % of other flavours or, should I just leave it for about 2 more weeks?

PS everyones advice has been exceptional!

Start again and sub out the raspberries in the original with the changed ones. Fruit flavors tend to become bland and perfume-y at high % raspberry is REAL bad in that regard. Also try what @Ishkabibble suggested with the black currant if you're into that.

I've never really had luck adding a flavor after it's already sat for a bit. I agree with Hillbilly's advice. FA Raspberry takes time to develop since it's very concentrated. For example I hated FA Blackberry for the longest time, made a mix with it in a very small % and it was perfumey as all hell. Left it in the drawer and forgot about it, and tried it after like 2 months of sitting and it was delicious!

Yeah FA blackberry can be a tough flavor to work with. I have a couple that uses it at .5% and if I didn't use strong flavors to back it up, it would overpower it like nothing. Goes nice with FA forest mix and a bit of lime.

Thanks for this. So do you think I should just leave it for about 1 month, then taste it or should i be tasting it each week? It's just so disheartening when a followed recipe doesn't go to plan!

From what I understand, that batch seems to be borked. Best to start over with a better understanding of your flavors. That and too much of a flavor can actually make your juice bland. So yeah make a fresh batch, with the changes (not the original raspberry flavors) give it like a week, and hopefully it'll be all good.

Thanks for this. Yeah, I'm not gonna go over 5% for any of the flavours. Everything's under 4% n then I'll work my way up.
